EBGames Pre-order Sales Figures show:
~~~
Overall game sales -- LOTRO is #2.
PC game sales -- LOTRO is #1 (WoW:TBC is #2 )
As an alpha- and beta-tester of LOTRO for the last six months (since August), I am happy to see that Turbine has a WINNER!
~~~
And I think this is well-deserved!
(I do not maintain that EVERYBODY will love LOTRO -- I just think that is a GOOD and a FUN game and sales like this means Turbine will have the funds to develop this game to an even greater extent.)

BOYCOTTING EA / ORIGIN going forward.
I miss DAoC
I think it has potential to do quite well....

Well ... actually, the statistics are NOT "essentially worthless."
1) I personally have a "hard copy" WoW:TBC gamebox sitting on my computer workstation. MANY people order the boxes because they want the discs and any associated paperwork -- like the small game manual which comes inside.
2) LOTRO also offers direct download options -- no gamebox required.
From the Pre-Order FAQs:
Can I Pre-order online (Digitally)?
A: Yes. Click the icons for either Electronics Boutique or Gamestop (or other select retailers as they are added) on this page. Those links will let you place an electronic order. Please note that digital orders do NOT include any of the physical components.

You can, if you choose, purchase the key and download TBC directly from Blizzard -- this is true. NOT everybody did that -- not by a long shot.
Besides, nobody is criticizing WoW -- heck, I played it and liked it.
But I am on my way to LOTRO now. Everybody won't join me. Plenty will stay and continue with WoW, which is peachy-keen with me.
Barrens chat?
Yep -- it is FINE with me if people remain and play WoW. FINE.

Um, i'm sorry but I'm going to have to agree with the poster above me. Do you have any links to prove these figures? All this really is, is a huge guess without any facts to back it up.
The guy doesn't even mention WoW in his post, so how exactly does asking for some facts to back up a huge assumption make him a 'Wow Fanboi'?
I've been in beta for 6 months now as well. The art is quite nice and the quests are well written. But I would never call this game a WoW Killer, lol. I'm sure it'll do well and have many happy people who enjoy it. However... Whether WoW is a good game or not is beside the point, labeling a game 'good or bad' is a matter of personal taste and one person's views will always be biased based on them.
When debating whether or not a game is better than another on a global or national scale, majority and numbers rule, and hard facts do not lie. Until a game can compete with not only the NA subscriber numbers but ALSO on an international level like WoW does, Blizzard will be king of the castle. So you can argue and disagree, call people WoW fanbois, announce the evils of Blizzard, and make grocery lists of every little thing that you hate about WoW till the cows come home. Whether you personally think WoW is a good game or not is beside the point.
I personally do not like LotRO mainly because I enjoy PvP and I found the lack of customization in skills boring. Does it make it a bad game? No, just one I personally do not like and will not help continue develop.

One thing I noticed today checking out gamespots website was that LoTRO is #1 on the PC list. I know Vanguard was listed at #3 when I looked and I think TBC at 5.
Edit Correction its the number one game listed console or PC.
Again it is a really awsome game, for people just sick of the same old non story based online games ( Who makes a game with out a story ?? what is the point of that , specailly if you fill the game up with boring people) . The story and the game play in LoTRO are the best that i've played since half life 1. The reason I compare it to Hl 1 is because the skills are like the bullets for weapons, i've seen more weapons in this game in the 15 levels I've played then any other mmo's end game. Their is alot of different armors to discover as well.
Half of us have yet to reach the real fun , being able to equip bow at level 30 will be interesting, Lineage 2 was the only game I've played that allowed that, though it wasn't class specific in L2 like it is in LotRO. And what happens when One character reaches 50 , well roll a new one , and choose a different craft, or Take part in the monster vs player, who says you have to be the monster, be the player and try to maintain control of the areas , a non - stop virtual tug of war for middle earth . Brilliant
Their is a reason why LoTRO is rising to the top, it is simply a brilliantly thought out and executed game, with one of the best insightful and helpful communities to support it.
Turbine , this bud is for you
