I normally only play one MMO at a time, but I appreciate the historical authenticity that this game is striving for and would like to give it a try.
What is the best deal for getting started? I see mention of the 14 day trial, 30 day friend trials and would be open to purchasing a box or download if it was a good deal.
I sew "New" World War II Online: Blitzkrieg at Amazon.com for $3.00. Is this only an expansion? Does it include 30 days?
Thanks!

Thats sounds like the original version. Not sure.
Anyways, there have been no expansions that cost money, so once you install the game you'll be directed to update. I believe that it should hold 30 days games time.
If you buy the box you'll get a cd-key and 30 days free, and that's the only thing you need.
The CD in itself is worthless, as there are no updates anymore that can patch you up to current version.
The game in itself is fully downloadable for everyone at their website.
You can try out the game in off-line mode, testing all the equipment and set up your key-mapper (each key can have multi function).
To drive and fire with a tank for instance isn't anything like to drive a tank in Battlefield 1942. So it is highly recommended to learn how the equipment work in off-line mode before you enter the front line.
The box from Amazon's partners seems to be the original box from 2001, and if it is unbroken will you get a CD-key for $3 which you otherwise will have to buy online for $20. The CD-key includes 30 days of play. The used (open) box is worthless since the CD-key most likely already has been activated.
With the CD-key do you create an account which is needed to be able to subscribe.
The CD inside the box is proberbly WWII Online v1.0. Today is the current version v1.25.4 so the CD is an antique item.
