After playing the game for a while, I'm under the impression that the game almost runs itself. I set patrol mode on and my group justs whacks away, while my scout is auto-healing whenever health gets low. Although I don't think you can pick up items that are dropped while using this method afk, you still can make some good exp I expect.

I haven't actually tried this method long term tbh, but it's just sort of in the back of my mind. I have to say though, the game is a blast to play so far so there's not much need (at least for me) to do that.

Well using the patrol feature for an extended feature isnt a great idea in high lvl zones because:

    A) the mobs will knock your party around and split them up

    B) the massive ammount of mobs that spawn will just pwn you

    C) if you're in a dungeon and you hit a box you're probly going to die

    D) if you're not going to die from any of the following chances are you wotn be getting great exp

That's why you patrol in an area where the mobs are a bit easier, so that A-C wont be an issue. You can still get very decent exp, of course not as much as you would if you were there to supervise the action, but leaving your party to auto kill slightly easier mobs for 16 hours while you sleep will give you a few levels.

Nah trust me you can still die, actually the feature does wear off and youll just be standing and you can be beaten up.

Ya, It wears off in about 5 minutes.  Also if your fighter runs off too far from your captain which happens alot; they will stop the patrol mode.

You see a lot of families which had the great idea to do this. Once you hit the lvl 20+ zones, you usually find them backed up against a well, getting killed over and over without fighting back. Past that, they mostly disappear. :)

Do you use skills and switch stances more in the higher level areas? I've only been up through Al Moreza, got to the boss (who killed me, definitely a group quest). At any rate, I've basically been CTRL + CLICK-ing and SHIFT + CTRL + CLICK-ing my way up.

yes, you do use skills a lot more often in high lvl areas, also depends on your class. As for the boss, most of the early dungeon bosses are solable just so you know.

Well on my way to lv 20 i used a lot of skills...i simply wanted to see the exiting action. I got an Ice elementalist doing his aoe nuke and my fighter w her dual sword doing the dust devil aoe knowback. Its fun, and i only see more fun in the long run.

As far as patrol mode...i have seen tons of families afk getting killed time and time again, the spawns were just too much and the game does disengage in certain points. On the other hand if they have a room you want and their just wasting space challenge them to adual which theyll accept regardless in 30 secs and kill them off to send em to town. Many peopel seem angry at this idea but tbh...after playing L2 for 2 yrs im quite content abusing people trying to abuse a system that was put in place to make it easier to mage 3 chars at a time and for you to enjoy using skills rather than click 20k mobs coming at u. So i have no sympathy for the families ive sent to town for afk gringing lol. Ofc i do always wait a few mins to make sure they didnt go to the 'bathroom' like so many of them claim then ill go for the kill.

Its a fun game and i hope it only gets better.

where you the guy who tried to duel my in tetra dungeon?  Cause I was there trying to move forward inch by inch but kept getting mobbed.  I was using 1 guy actively to taunt and someone wanted to duel, but in that second I cancel duel, I missed a taunt when 12 phobitan's jumped my healer, and my party was soon to follow.

Now see, while this is a bad idea to do by youself, if you're grouped with another party or two, then the auto-patrolling works a bit better in the harder areas. Granted it'll take longer to level at that point, but with three groups, you can have all but one person from each group on Auto-Patrol. Then with the last person from each group set them to Auto-Gather so you can pick things up as mobs get killed. This just requires the support of your friends really.
