I find that I spend 99.9 % of my time staring at my charcters back. Once cloaks, helms, and the rest of the armor is added on you can't see much except his beard anyway ~shrig~ If i really want to build characters I could play Barbie Swimsuit Designer I suppose

Isn't that the Sims Online? Anyway, I can understand why some folks want alot of character customization, but I just don't personally see it as a breaking point as far as playing a game. But, I suppose if that is the current flash point that some are using as a game breaking flaw, hey, I'm happy. On my list of things that that are important for a game to entertain me, that part is at the bottom. Like you Jack, I'll be staring at the back of my character 95% of the time and my memory isn't so great that I'm going to remember every detail of the face of the avatar I ran by 2 hours ago and how they compare to the face of the character I'm standing next to now, so, meh.
"Many nights, my friend... Many nights I've put a blade to your throat while you were sleeping. Glad I never killed you, Steve. You're alright..."
For me customization is important but I don't need to be able to morph the face in a million ways. Why? You really don't see others close up and you really can't tell the nuiances of faces until you do. Most of the time you have the camera pulled back. Too much facial customization just ends up taking up the game's resources.
Now I'm not saying there shouldn't be different faces but I think they should put more emphasis on hairsyles which you can tell from a distance. But most importantly, the armor or clothes that the character wears must have many options. That's what stands out the most. CoH doesn't have one of the best character customizations because of the various faces (although it has a lot here too) but it's because you can have an almost infinite amount of costumes.

Personally it does not matter so much imo.
it's not that often i run up to a character and look at their face to see how they look like.

Well, don't get me wrong, I love character customization.
But the changes in faces have been so different from last Beta to this Beta that I believe they will have one more pass in open beta.
In last beta you could change some noses but not pick "a head". In this beta you have "head choice" but the nose can't be changed.
I believe they are still implementing the final system.
