Now I've been playing for about a week now and I am really enjoying the game. I've figured out crafting, making a lil cash. I'm up to level 7 adventuring and feel how I felt when I first started playing EQ1 oh so many years ago. My questions are geared to those that feel they will be playing VG as their primary long term game.
I never played WoW, I played EQ1, Earth and Beyond, Eve Online, Planetside, and beta tested many other games like Lineage 2, Matrix Online. some others. I find the complexity in VG and the possibilities to be the key to what makes me want to play the game. Back in EQ1 you could always tell the good players, not just their gear, but their understanding of the game and how well they played their charachters. Those people that came into a group and just made the group. I always strived to be that person and I think VG will allow me to do that once again. Not just be a single zergling with the rest of the zerg.

Gold Farmer Reporting
The community has been absolutely fantastic at helping us catch gold farmers by reporting them and pointing them out to us. Many bannings have happened already and many more are soon to follow. So please, keep up the good work and thank you!
2) Tough question. Anyone wants to advance. Some fast, some dont care how fast but want to advance too. I am still on my journey to find the hidden tribe of roleplayers. I want to explore and see as much as possible.
3) You enjoy the fun of the first 15 levels. It will change once you move closer to 20. Be it adventuring or crafting. That said i say this game stands or falls with its community. It all depends on the people you play with. Money and penalty is an issue you have to deal with. My approach is patience and i keep away from "tier dungeons" until i really know with whom i am going there. I am leatherworker and so i do gain quite some experience only from hunting and skinning without feeling like grinding. Lots of the group content is very time consuming or needs camping. Ok if you like it and have a static group or guild. I hate it with passion. A game in 2007 should not contain any camp except the /camp command :P So i have to travel a small path, away from the mainstream. As long as this is possible i ll play. If there is a point where i cant do this and cant people who play role within the lore i ma out.
I have played a few MMO but will give you some of the more popular ones I have played .. SWG, MxO, DAOC, EQII, D&D, WoW
Goal wise is to have fun!! Make some new friends and just enjoy the community. I like to explore and VG gives me plenty of opportunity to do just that and the community over the last week or so has really improved.
Yes I plan on being with VG for the long haul, I think once they get the bugs worked out this game is going no where but up. I see so much potential and cant wait to see what the future brings.
Out of every 100 men, 10 should not be there,
80 are nothing but targets, 9 are the real fighters.
Ah, but one, ONE of them is a warrior,
and he will bring the others home.

1. What is your experience with other MMO's?
I have played EQ for 8 months a few years ago, EQ2 for 4, months WoW for about 6 months and now VG.
I liked EQ for its depth, also the character class progession was the most interesting, always couldn't wait to get the new abilities because you were always frequently getting actual fun new ones. The world was large and interesting, but I really hated the death exp the stupid mob trains and the long, boring as hell mob camping for quests. I quit after frustration, constantly develling from level 17 to 16. It was also frustrating that you needing groups all the time, but at least groups were easy to get back then when the game was super popular. Also the most friendly. I tried to get into it again recently, but the copious amounts of corpse camping just got on my nerves and quit again.
WoW. I've been playing it on and off usually for a month at a time but quit again recently. Really addictive and fun in its simplicity, lacking the features and depth of EQ but nontheless the game world is really beautiful and stylistic. I also love how solo/casual friendly it is, I can go at my own pace, play for only short periods of time and still have a damn blast. WoW does the best with atmosphere. Forests are so damn gorgeous and I loved the alientmushoom zone in the Outlands. Crafting system is the worst out of all the MMOs, bloody boring as hell, I hated all the dumb reputation grinds and raid or die mentality. The expansion sort of fixed this, but just grew tired of the game. Community however, well and truly craptastic. I've met the worst people here, more ninjas and dickheads then anywhere else. People simply don't give a crap about anyone but themselves and I've had people swear at me for no apparent reason. Got a hunter to 60, druid to 55 and a warlock to 40 since my last cancellation. Don't think I'll return, I'm just completely tired of it, particularly the community. Just read the stupid forums to have a taster.
EQ2 really got my interest for a while, I really thought I'd leave WoW permerantely for it. I really liked the character customization and the fact you could become any class/race combo...but it felt...hollow I don't know. World felt dead and uninspiring compared to Wow, gaining levels in anything was really dull as well because the classes...the progression isn't interesting. It's just upgrade to existing abilities and virtually no new actual abilities. Quests were boring after a while, voice acting cheesy and over-the-top. The crafting system was boring and repetitious, I didn't like how you couldn't customize anything you made. Armor is the ugliest and most embrassing in my opinion. SOE is also unresponsive and don't seem to give a crap about their playerbase and what they want. I got a Warden to 40 and a few other to similar levels before quitting. Community is a whole lot better then WoW, more mature and friendly overall.
VG. I love the big world, the large varity of classes/races, the much better character customization then WoW....but I hate the EQ nostalgic death system and the casual unfriendliness beyond 10-15. It quickly feels like a dull grind, more then the other MMOs I felt the grind wasn't presented well or tried to be a bit more different then competitors, because virtually every quest is the same old kill x number of creature and deliver something with a different scenery every now and then, even though I was going at my own pace, exploring and reading the quests. I wasn't rushing at all, yet I was falling asleep. I really thought this was going to be much more. Hopefully in the future VG will be a whole lot better and I can get rid of WoW forever.
2. What are your in game goals?
Explore, quest, learn about the game world, meet new people and just have fun at my own pace. Sometimes getting to the next level if I'm going to get a new amazing ability but I don't pressure myself to level a.s.a.p. I prefer to solo, don't mind duoing every now and then or grouping but don't like relying on other people to get things done all the time.
2. Do you think you'll be playing in a year? If so, what do you think the game will be like?
Hopefully I will. I think VG will have alot more features and be more polished in a year, but if its not more casual friendly then I won't be staying as much as I want to. I don't want raid gear, I don't care about that, I just want to be catered to properly, considering VG was supposed to cater to all types of MMO gamers.
Yeah bloody long post sorry oh well.
I was level 70 with 700+ AA's (When there were only 850 AA's for my class in the game) I used to 6 box fire for hours at a time. The grind wont phase me.
