Darkfall is making a lot of claims on how it will resemble old school UO. However, Darkfall is a long way away still. If DF lives up to all their promises, will you leave UO for DF?

Yeah. . .after seeing the videos of the new upgrade, it looks exaclty like WoW/EQ style game. You have the same 1-0 buttons to mash. Of course you don't have to use it, but it just shows that EA is just trying to go for the masses instead of the original. They said they are "updating the UI." Who said that to update something you have to copy what every one else is doing? Can't they seriously think of their own way to "update" the UI in the game? UO was in better hands with Origin. So yes, I probably will be leaving UO for Darkfall....actually, I left UO after the Samurai expansion.

im definitely going to try darkfall, and i hope it will atleast end up as something close to what uo was. It definitely seems to be taking aspects of several different games, however, if they do live up to what they claim it will be, it will not necessarily make it worse, just attractive to those who love the new mmo generation as well as the old. However, i most certainly wont quit uo, there is and only ever will be one uo. Plus ive put way to many years into it to quit : P even tho i occasionally want to (damn ea : ( )

I left UO years ago, and have been waiting for a game like Darkfall to come along.
Will Darkfall be as good as UO was in it's prime? hard to say... It needs to get moving though, with a beta sometime this year, or as far as I'm concerned it may not come to pass. They've been taking quite a while, but I'l give them a little more time.

No, I will always play UO on and off. I can’t see Darkfall as being a UO replacement. They promise to deliver many things that are certainly attractive, but I don’t hold high hopes. I will definitely try Darkfall if it ever comes out. The way I look at it, not one game will ever deliver everything one want, I just need to sample the best part of each one.
I left UO when AoS was released. I doubt very much that todays UO community will join Darkfall. Darkfall is open PvP, todays UO community is carebears that live in trammel. Even people that do PvP in todays UO are arses that have no PvP skills, UO is mad item based, people (hide) behind gear. Darkfall Dev's have stated that they will not make the mistakes of EA / UO made. It will be funny though to see some carebears get on Darkfall and then shed tears when they get killed, the Dev's will tell them that this is not the MMO for you, lol.
Like mosy UO vets eveytime i hear the word Darkfall i get excited but im not gonna hold my breath for it. Pre Exp Uo still best game of all time though.
Now that is funny, leave UO for vaporware. I am surprised the devs for Darkfall still have funding.
They have not even announced when beta will take place.
You should wait till at least the game is in beta status before asking this question. Too many MMO's have self destructed prior to beta for this question to be any more than whimsical.

I've been searching for a game to match old school UO's fun and balance. The game wasn't about item whoring and it wasn't about getting the highest level and then farming the same quests over and over. UO was about the player and that player had the choice to do whatever he or she wanted to do. If you got killed in UO you would lose your stuff. The nice thing about it was that all of your belongings were easily replaced. Items were cheap and the economy wasn't based on the items. The economy was based on housing and the ability to advance your characters.
I hope Darkfall finds a good balance between death and economy. The only thing that scares me is that it looks awfully close to Shadowbane. Shadowbane was simply far too cumbersome and there was practically no penalty for PKing other players. I enjoy playing as the PK but sometimes when there is no danger involved it becomes almost like farming... I honestly don't know if I'll ever find a game to rival that of old school UO.
Darkfall is definitely on my list of games to try also.
Many would probably still be playing Ultima Online right now, likely in a modern 3d version, if EA had not stepped in, caused Lord British and team to leave, and then tried to wring every last cent out of the customer base with their sub-par developers like Sunsword, with little regard to the quality of the gameplay or updating the technology of the game.
LOL, Darkfall is the number one vaporware title out there. What makes you think it will ever see the light of day? I will personally be shocked if it actually releases.
Oh no no no Darkfall isnt vaporware, yet. Duke Nukem Forever is.

I have played UO for over 5 years. If it EVER gets released I will try it. But I have serious doubts. I signed up for the guild beta about 2 years ago... I really dont think its going to make it.

I would rather them never release than pull a Sigil and release like Vanguard. 3 months out the gate and sucking so bad you are left with no choice but to sellout to SoE. Thanks for "The Vision", it was fun while it lasted...
Fear not fanbois, we are not trolls, let's take off your tin foil hat and learn what VAPORWARE is:
"Vaporware is a term used to describe a software or hardware product that is announced by a developer well in advance of release, but which then fails to emerge after having well exceeded the period of development time that was initially claimed or would normally be expected for the development cycle of a similar product."

Darkfall is still vaporware. The game has been in production for ages, has no release date and no announced beta.
I have great doubts this game will ever see the light of day.

Actually, I never tried it... but once the new expansion comes out I might give it a go, just for nostalgia value.....

Another mmorpg world would be nice, though as I play uo now until darkfall comes UO might be gone.
