Over all more challenging to me is Vanguard. Alot of the higher quests up past 14 involve grouping and if one person doesnt pay attention to their job can ruin a group and cost the party alot of exp.
Hard to say, I enjoy Vanguard alot but their will be thise die hard WoW fans so it's up in the air at the moment.
Vanguard definately has the better mounts. Alot of variety to choose from from horses, wolves, hellhounds, camels, and the flying mounts rnage from Pegasus like, gryphons, and Wyrms. The flying mounts are also entirely controlled by you. No flight paths, go where you want. Where as WoW's are race specific and if you want a new styled mount you can only choose ebtween the race specific ones and flying mounts will only be useable in the expansion zone.
I would probably rate V:SoH 8/10 and WoW a 6/10. I played WoW for awhile and i enjoyed it till I hit 60, I wasnt one for farming Honor, the attitude of the pvper's who just said "Let the Horde win so we can get our honor" and i'm not a big fan of instances or raiding. Vanguard has its bugs and its a fool who says there's nothign wrong with it but I enjoy the game for what it is and what I hope it turns into.
Challenging quests: Even, I would say. Quests are pretty much the same in both games. One difference is that you can play WoW and level through quests, in Vanguard quests help but don't give as much xp.
Mounts: Vanguard has the best mounts no question about it! Might take you some really long time to get a very good mount though. Your first mount you can buy at lvl 10.
Popularity: Well, WoW of course! It has over 8 million subscribers! Vanguard has maybe betwenn 100 000 and 150 000, no one really knows as of yet.
Vanguard is a more complicated game, it has more complicated (and more rewarding, in my opinion) crafting and a very fun diplomacy minigame. The reason I like Vanguard better is due to it giving more freedom, you can simply do more things, build houses, boats, get mounts that fly and you can reach whatever you see. No artifical walls in the world or instanced dungeons that break immersion (a lot of people like instanced dungeons and there are benefits to that system as well, like scripted encounters), a lot less hand holding than in WoW, the game lets you actually do stupid things! This is a great thing and gives a feeling of freedom.
WoW is by far the most polished game of the two, but I will play Vanguard due to the "deeper" gameplay options (I played WoW for 2 years, it is a great game as well).
Which game has more challenging quests WOW or VSH?
And which game looks to be the more popular in years time?
Which game has better mounts?
And last what would you rate each out of 10?
Mkafna
It depends on how you define challenge. In open world quests, I'd say Vanguard is more "challenging" because the game mechanics are no where near as polished, and you need a group for everything. World of Warcraft, the open world quests, as designed, are mostly soloable, and thus easier. However the group content in instances, especially the new Outland instances, can be quite difficult. Try Shattered Halls for instance. Yikes.
More popular in years time? World of Warcraft. Burning Crusade isn't the last addition to World of Warcraft, the game is playable and mostly bug free now, where as VSH might be playable and mostly bug free in a year, only the most dedicated with the highest end machines will remain. I will put money on a major addition to WoW in the next 6-12 months.
Better mounts? Very subjective question. The mounts in World of Warcraft are harder to get, feel much more accomplished when you get them. True there are racial specific mounts, but there are also PVP reward mounts, faction reward mounts, you can get racial mounts for other races with enough reputation with them. Even mounts as rare drops from boss mobs. Yes, the flying mounts are only usable in Outland, but you have no need for a flying mount in Azeroth. That's the key difference, things in VSH are in the game just for the heck of having them, everything in WoW has a purpose / reason for being there, a well thought out one. It's called "good game design" something Brad never learned.
I'd give WoW a 9.5/10 in its current state. There is some room for improvement, though with the level of polish and well thought out design, most the improvements needed are just personal opinion and stuff I'd "wish" to see
As for VSH, in its current state I'd give it a 6.4/10. In 6-12 months it might be a much better game, I pray they fix all the problems and I really don't have anything against the game or its players, if ya'll like it, enjoy, I'll be playing a finished, polished game thanks.
This was obviously a trolling thread so might as well flame on a bit.

Challenging Quests: Of course it's going to be Vanguard. Mainly because the mobs are a bit harder and you have to collect a little bit more stuff. Basically everygame has the same kind of quests. Go kill this and go grab this for me. WoW does it in a way that you can do it alone, VG does it in a way that you need a few friends to complete this. Along with the bugs also, as of right now, it makes it more complicated, but that could all change when they patch the game.
Popular: World of Warcraft for sure. WoW will be around for ages. You can bet yourself if WoW dies, that it will be because they have WoW2 or WoS/WoD or some other blizzard MMo. Vanguard is a niche game....and when I mean niche, I don't mean UO niche or EQ niche. I mean NIIIIIICHE! The gameplay is alot slower compared to wow and not as inviting compared to WoW. But if you dig Slow gameplay and have the time, then your half-way there.
Better Mounts: All hands down to Vanguard. You can get your first mount at level 10 (thank god!!) And there are so many, Flying mounts etc.. WoW has awesome mounts as well, but you have to be high in levels to obtain them.
Final Rating: World of Warcraft I would give an 8.2/10. The game is very inviting, very friendly and fun overall. Nothing is better than sitting down to a nice warm fire, with a cup of coffee and playing WoW with the gf/ buddies.
Vanguard: SoH, 5.8/10. My first game was Ultima ONline in 1999. This game was to cater to people like me. But it's not. It's too boring to be honest. I played VG from beta 3 all the way up until my 3 days head start in the game. Never did I see progress towards the game being fun. They did do alot of work on this game, but the land is too massive to be alive. Plus, I just don't have the time I used to. Vanguard is not my cup of tea and probably never will. Too bad, I was looking so forward to it.
To be honest, I don't know where Vanguard is going. I don't know if the game will be around in 2 years or if it will be. it's hard to tell right now. But I think when WAR and AoC come out, it's going to damage VG severly. Unless they can turn things around.

Quests are a bit similar, i liked the quests in WoW but in Vanguard they're pretty much up to the same standard.
WoW will be more popular for a long time, its easier to get into, and with the current base of subscribers there's not gonna be any MMO that's gonna beat it soon.
I really like the mounts in Vanguard, you get them at low lvl and can get better mounts later on.
WoW has always been a polished game, pretty much from the start. Most MMO's start of with lots of bugs and things to work on, vanguard is no exception there...
I've played WoW for about 7 months, its been a great experience.
What I like about vanguard is the crafting, diplomacy, and the ability to built houses and ships.
WoW = 8
Vanguard = 7, will be better with patches, its like the start of Star Wars Galaxies (pre NGE that is!). I started playing SWG right from the start on an american server ( I'm Dutch) and it had lots of bugs and stuff that was intended but not there yet., still I loved playing it. Vanguard gives me pretty much the same feeling.
Which game has more challenging quests WOW or VSH?
Neither has very challenging quests, for the most part (80% or so) of the quests you get from both games are along the lines of kill 10 of this and 10 of that and go there. All pretty simple. Some of the instance quets in WoW can be fairly entertaining, same can be said for Vanguard, but I wouldn't word them as a "challenge"
And which game looks to be the more popular in years time?
For better or for worse, I'd probably go with WoW. I don't think Vanguard will make a dent in WoW's population, there's such a huge difference in the palyability of these, it's less likely they'll encroach on each other's player base over time. I do think however, with upcoming games will hit both of the titles. Games like AoC, WAR and TCoS have a good chance at taking some people away from both these populations. Of course, only time can tell this for sure.
Which game has better mounts?
I actually prefer the timing and "way" you get your mount in Vanguard, I do however like the versatility of the mounts in WoW more. A combination of both would be great. IMHO the only people that have ever done Mounts properly was Saga of Ryzom, now that's how a mount system should work.
And last what would you rate each out of 10?
Vanguard would be: 4 out of 10
World of Warcraft would be: 6 out of 10
Both OK games in their own right, WoW just has a lot more "Fun" factore IMO.

I know VG only from the beta, but I bet I know it enough to give you a reasonable answer.
VG has more challenging quests, mostly because after like lv 15-20 it is advised to group. The game mechanic is more challenging in VG, but once you learned it, at it's core it is not so different from WoW.
WoW will always be more popular, not because it is a lot easier, but because it's done by the best professionals out there, who knew exactly what components a comercially successful game needed.
Vg has better mounts, but you also need them quite early on, since the world is huge.
WoW: 8.4-8.6 ... only because it is not complex enough for me, but it's the most compact game out there.
VG: 6.2-6.4 ... Can't put it in a nut shell, have written extensively in other posts.

Agreed w/ you right up until this. Blizzard is great at producing their Warcraft series, Starcraft and Diablo. Unfortunately in the MMO ring, they are not the best professionals in the business. The best wouldn't change the core fundamentals of the game 3 times in 2 years.
To the OP:
VG and WoW are pretty much the same type of quests. The only difference between the two is that in VG risk vs. reward is much higher (not that the reward is but risk is quite a bit greater). Since you can lose xp by dying, grouping is strongly encouraged.

Basically true, but at this point WoW is easily digested, and V:SoH is likely to give the player very bad indigestion unless he has a very strong system.
Which game has more challenging quests WOW or VSH?
Slight advantage to WoW, just because some of WoWs quests involve going into instances and fighting complex boss encounters, which Vanguard doesn't have. Other than that they're identical.
And which game looks to be the more popular in years time?
WoW will be in the millions of subscribers.. Vanguard will be 100K or so.
Which game has better mounts?
About equal. Both serve the same function. WoWs mounts look better and there are more types.. but you can put a couple pieces of gear on Vanguards.
And last what would you rate each out of 10?
Vanguard, as it is now, gets a 3/10. When, and if, they get the bugs worked out it could be about 5/10.
WoW gets an 8/10.
If you haven't played WoW yet, you should play that. It's a far superior game. However, if you have played it and are looking for something new.. Vanguard is worth a try. Just give it a couple months.
Thank you all for your opinions but at the moment it looks like WOW is the way to go and maybe wait and see if AOC or Darkfall can go beyond what WOW and VSH have to offer.

WoW is the most fun I've ever had playing an mmo.
Quests in WoW have great rewards, their worth doing. Vanguards, copy cats imo, nothing memorable like WoW's.
I've played them all - EQ1 and 2, AC1 and 2, AO, Eve, DAOC, Shadowbane, Vanguard
imo Vanguard is not as good as WoW in many ways, Is Vanguard "harder" yes - but is it more fun? no.
Cities are better in wow and so are dungeons, heck even the landscape is done better in wow.
Vanguard is a big dissapoinment for me and many others, it's certainly not lived up to it's hype.
Play WoW, trust me, fun is where it's at!
WoW= candy

I think i better get my WOW subscription...
