I was just wondering whether anybody could help me out with this query.
I am playing WOW now early stages and I was wondering if the game (quests) get progressively harder as you level up or is the difficulty much the same because you are always increases your strength level of armor etc?
Also which mmo has the most taxing and challenging quests out there at the moment and out of 10 what would WOW be rated in difficulty.

mmmm yeeeah, thats greeat, a little to the left would be greeeat, ::sips coffee mug:::
no the quests do not get harder, you will get a few elite quest but its easily done with a group, and groups are easy to find.
they are quests in the game where you need to be prepared (potions etc...), but its always the same difficulty unless your doing a level 20 quest at level 14 for example.
the most taxing and challenging quests out there at the moment IMO, i would say final fantasy XI. in ffxi they wont show you where to go, what's the level requirement, sometime what item you need, where to get that item etc...
However the dungeon (instance) areas become more dangerous towards the end of the game. To complete the later dungeons you will need a moderately experienced party in which everyone is aware of their role in the group and has some understanding of tactics etc.
You really notice if you play a high level character and then go back to an alt in a low level instance. You will marvel at how the party continually screws up and gets away with it.
PvP also becomes more involved at higher levels as each character has access to a much wider range of skills.

Is this a harder character to play with or one of the easier ones?

If you want a more complex class to play I'd suggest trying a warlock

None of the classes are hard, its just whatever your flavor is. I tried all the classes to at least 30 except for paladin, priest, and shaman. I maxed lvl with warlock and my mage was upper lvl 40's. None are hard to play, but I found warlocks to be fun with using all the DOT's, lots of curses, drain spells, direct damage attacks, and demon pets. For mages its all about high direct damage and AOE attacks and crowd control. I found mages to be mostly fun in PvP. I played a hunter to low lvl 40's but I got bored and didn't lvl up any more. Rogues are fun if you like stealth and surprise attacks and high DPS although they felt way too cookie cutter with not enough abilities. I enjoyed playing warrior in PvE but they need more PvP abilities to defend and counter attack casters which is another balance issue. Maybe TBC addressed those issues of balancing characters especially in PvP but I kind of doubt they did. Basically, you can hit lvl cap solo or grouping with any class, but choose the one that is the most fun. Try several classes to at least lvl 30 maybe even little higher and do some PvP to see if you like that class.
I guess you could say that CoX is challenging in that they have 5 difficulty levels that will change the spawns on missions. Heroic is sort of the default setting. The next one add more guys per spawn. The third one goes back to smaller spawns and add +1-2 levels and you start seeing bosses (whcih reisist certain effect to a greater degree inaddition to having special attacks). 4th is like 3rd but with larger spawns. 5th is like 3rd byt + like +2-3 or maybe +3-4 I think.
Does that really make it harder? Sort of, sort of not. On the 5th level of diffculty it doesn;t matter how badass you are personally, because if you have enahcned your powers with enough accuracy you will miss most of the time. At the same time you certainly need to be more effective there is no doubt.
At some point most of these games are simply reduce to equations, as there is no real "skill" involved and most of the games have no real dynamic intelligence so battle field tactical expertise is not actually needed once you have the gameplay down. Most of these games like WoW that use taunt mechanics can never be truly challenging. They are made to be completely predictable. And furthermore a large protion of their customers will complain if they cannot directly control the behavior of mobs via taunt instead of using tactics.
And when it comes to PvP (ie. unpredictable and tactically intelligents opponents) a game like Guild Wars is far more challenging because it lends itself to creative and varied tactical thnking whereas WoW is extremely static and can only rely on tactical execution. At the same time Guild Wars is one of the few cooperative games that does not use Taunt mechanics and they get a lot of pissing and moaning about it. Most of these coopertaive games are doomed to never be challenging when it comes to PvE, because frankly their customers don't want challenge, they want control and the illusion of challenge.
Some people will tell you raid encounters are challenging. They either do not know what they are saying or are lying. How can anything that can be completely timed down to the second to the point where CT-Raid-assist will notify you of the nasty Ragnaros AoE be considered difficult? Is looking at a clock hard? Is going to place X at time Y really that hard? Something you can train a dog to do? No it is not hard. They think it is hard because they wipe and try and new strat and then wipe again and it takes them a long long time to do enough iterations. But if you could do it on a test server where wipes cost no equipment damage and rez was instant and infintie you would solve the problem of just about any raid encounter in about a day easy especially if you adequately geared.
Some games are bit more complex then others, Eve, Guild Wars and CoX are more complex than WoW when it comes to what individual characters can do and have a richer attack/counter/counter-to-the-counter system. And Eve specifically can have some fairly interstingly complex dynamics when it comes to gun range and tracking that is non-obvious (although I find Eve a bit boring). Some games have a more razor's edge execution/timing than WoW, Guild Wars can have this with certain skill builds, other skill builds are roughly similar to a WoW rogue, but in general timing and execution is much tighter and more challenging especially with some of the novel builds that may use extremly dangerous skills.
Or if you want a realy mental challenge I guess you could play Uru Live and solve puzzles.
Quests are generally easy to do with any class, they are easy to comprehend and very straightforward, in some cases it can get challenging but that would be coincidence..this is one of the easiest MMORPG's ive played.
I'd say the same, but it's being made impossible due to the, 'misses, resist, dodge' shit, i play a priest myself and i got a warrior alt, with my warrior i have way less problems doing quests then with my priest, where i required help with my priest i pounder through with my warrior solo and yes i tried disc/holy and full shadow spec.
For example with my priest(lvl64) i am able to take on a lvl 66 mob, but with my lvl45 warrior i can take on a lvl 49 mob not to difficult.
And this only due to the fact my warrior 'dodge/misses' (resists/miss/dodge) way less then my priest. If you ask me a melee class character has a better chance on soloing higher level mobs then a caster class, but for example a (ice) mage can take more at once with their AOE spells (freeze/slow).
WoW is designed such that folks with no MMORPG experience at all can get into the game and be successful playing it. All the way to the level cap.
But, that does NOT mean that they are players that have Mastered what WoW has to offer. There are so many games and sub-games in WoW that it is really not possible to even come close to being master of them all in a single character to cap run.
You will find folks posting here that, for instance, say that the Raid game is not difficult. But, they personally have never led a Raid in, for instance, Molten Core. They have only heard about it. And from that, they draw conclusions.
For your question : Most quests are designed so that they can actually be completed. Surprise! The point of quests is not to frustrate you, or hold you back. It is to entertain and give you a way to get good exp, loot, and lore without the classic EQ1 Grinding.
Now, that said, there are some VERY hard quests to complete, even with a group. The Vile Reef line is famous for defeating the efforts of careless players. Many quests are easy, if you stop and observe the motions and patterns of the enemies you face. Where, on the other hand, if you just charge in it will be a crapshoot if you even survive or not.
WoW is a very complete game and operates on many different levels. The 'Easy Mode' is there for all to access. But it is not the be-all and end-all of WoW. Dig deeper. You might be surprised at what you find.
Good Hunting
its an easy game allllll the way till end game and raiding. The hardest part about this game NOW since it was changed a little is the raiding. SOOOOO once you get to 60-70 and get into a raiding guild then it will be harder then what your use to
Or if you just want to make things hard just try fighting higher level mons.
