512 megs of RAM enough?

Been thinking about playing this forever.

Will I be able to play this game decently?

Thanks

    what card exactly?

probably not though, from what i have experienced and what i have heard from other players is that you need at least 1 GB of ram.

Unless they updated since the last time I played it, you should be able to play it on a Commodore 64.

1GB RAM is minimum, 2GB is recommended.

512 mb is more than enough on your video card......

No, it's the same game I played a few years ago.  I was checking out some new screenshots and it appears they have updated it some.  When I played it, the grahpics looked no better than Meridian 59 looked several years ago.

Just look at the damage model thread.  That will give you some idea of how complicated this game really is despite it's graphics.  It ain't the graphics that count in this one.

Thanks for the compliment, Zertyr. Normally I'm told I look about 35, even tho I'm 42 years old. As for CS.. never played it. My orginal post wasn't to bash the game for the graphics, but the fact that it shouldn't require a lot of ram to run it. I'm sorry if my post offended the fanboys here. The game has a great concept and I would have enjoyed it more if I hadn't lagged so much, even with my cable modem. Go play the game to take out this aggression you guys have.

not so much that we are rabid fanboys, its that we get frustrated with the amount of people that don't understand how resources are used in a video game.    just because the textures in the game aren't the best, there i still a ton of things to render that will stress even a decent system.  not to mention the extreme amount of physics calculations that completely soak up processor resources.  basically graphics as you understand them to be, are not the only factor in RAM and other system resource usage.

if you have a good connection and an otherwise good system, 1 gig is fine.  but yes having 2 gigs is highly recommended.

The Game Requires So Much Ram Need Because , Of The World Itself. The Game Has a Bigger Map Then Any Mmo Out Now Basically , And thats Alot For a Computer To handle. EVen Though Is Had Bad Graphics , The Game Is Still good. Ever HEard the saying Never Judge a Book by Its Cover? Dont Juss Look At Screenshots and Say Wow , This Is Bad, And Now Try It Out. After playing it for a while you wont even notice the Graphics. Go Play World Of Wacraft , And Stop Bothering About WWII Online,

If You Want Bad Graphics, That dont even look real Go Play World Of Warcraft, <----- Cartoony Graphics.

  • I don't see the need to bash other games, it's not like WWII online is the best thing since sliced bread, but it is pretty great! But, world of warcraft and Counterstrike are both good games, just different games.

Yes, the graphics in this game are sub-par compared to most other games. However, if the graphics in this game were state of the art, the game would simply be un-playable with the computers most people own today.

This game puts a very heavy load on the system because it's computationally complex. The field of view is huge, unlike most other games and the map is of epic proportions, bigger than nearly any other mmorpg out there.  That alone puts quite a burden on your pc. The other part of the game that makes this thing a beast is that things are constantly being calculated. There are tons of other players to keep track of, missions happening, damage models, etc... The damage model is probably the biggest factor as far as taking up computing power. It's not like there are just 1 or 2 spots on an object that you can hit to take something down, precision shots really count in this game, like a well placed head-shot.

This game is about simulating actual warfare on a real battlefield. It's long distance fighting, not hopping into an arena and slashing your way through other players that are only a few yards away from you.

So to stay on topic here... The specs mentioned in the first post would definitely not be able to keep up with this game. And a commodore 64 would blow up if it came within a mile of this game.
