Upates and changes since launch? Former player thinking of trying again.

I haven't played the game since launch (didn't go past my free month and didn't really like voice chat to much as I don't have a mic but could hear pretty well) but was wondering if anyone could direct me to where I can read about changes to the game and impressions players have made in relation to changes?

Or simply could someone list the changes and how things have improved (if you were trying to explain why a former player should play the game again or at least give the trial a shot (plan on doing the trial before signing up again but would like to know a few things before I even start to update the game).

Also how have things change between voice chat players and non-voice chat players. I personally didn't have a problem with hearing people talking. However when I play MMORPGs I do it to relax. I'm talking all day to different people and really I like to not talk when playing games. I'm the kind of guy that can just enjoy the silence in a way and I know a lot of people that are like that when they are enjoying a hobby. Granted this isn't all the time but a times I don't feel like saying much. Voice chatters I noticed ignored non-talkers. So much so that a times I would flood the chat window once or twice just to make those talking take notice (one of the talkers would notice). They would apologize for ignoring those without voice but it was a problem all the same. All non-voice chat groups were far better I felt cause it slowed down the gaming and allowed for more communication all the same (bad mics or low voices made things hard at times).

Has anything been done to change this as well or at least address this problem some might have had or have?

First off, before anyone says anything. The game is being finished. It's not being improved and it's not getting better. Not that the game sucks or anything, it's just that the game has yet to reach a level 20 endgame.

From my experience last November

- The monk & druid still haven't been added.

- More dungeons have been added.

- Added auction house and mailing system.

- Certain bugs from beta are still present in the game. (The dice is still messed up)

- I believe they recently added level 14. (Or they are about too.)

- They add PvP, which hardly anyone plays due to extreme imbalances between classes and equipments.

- They added solo, but the solo is limited to level 3. They coming out with more solo content as well. However, if you're really good at soloing and you have a class that's good at solo then you can solo the game without solo option.

- I believe Improve Trip has been nerfed or removed for PvP reasons.

- Lastly, more high level players are within the harbor area doing mission on elite for favor and XP. Some of them haven't even left the Harbor area and have manage to get level 6 to 10.

Like I said, the game isn't finished. It's not improving and it's not getting any better. I'm not saying this to slam the game, but I'm trying to warn before someone else gives you bad information.

haha right... this coming from a lvl 4 trial account and can tell you it is not getting better or improving. A person that does NOT play the game, but can tell you it is not improving or getting better. Total matter of opinion, but coming from someone who does NOT play the game.

To the OP try the trial with a different email and see for yourself what has changed. If you listen to the above poster your listening to someone who does not play the game and has only done a trial account. But if you don't like voice chat I am hear to tell ya not much has changed in that area. A lot prefer voice cause some people cannot type fast.

Need I remind you that in order for what I say to be an opinion the thing I mention have to be exaggaration of the content. Turbine is added more dungeon is it not? Can you guarantee he won't see a level 8 to 9 character in the harbor area? Is Turbine not adding level 14 cap to game. Have the monk or druid been added in yet. Doesn't the game feature an auction house, an arena and a mailing system. At what point did my list include an opinion? I may have gotten level 4, but I've experience someone of the content for myself and the reset is mentioned on the website itself.

I've reported your post as harassment because you really do need other than picking fights and misinforming. Good day to you, sir.

My statement is your opinion that the game is not improving and not getting better. But you don't play the game! Do you follow now? How do you know? The rest of the stuff you posted is what Turbine has posted.

But go ahead and tell the poster that if he plays a bard he will have a hard time finding a group. Or tell the OP that you can whack skeletons in one hit on elite in the lighthouse. Boy talk about misinformation...

To the OP the game has a year worth of patches in it now. So it is more stable and runs better. The main thing is the core game is the same so if you didn't like the game before, I can't see how that would change. So it really kind of depends if you were enjoying the core game and a few minor things were bothering you.

There is plenty of content to go from 1 to 12 without having to repeat any quests that you don't want to. They are about to have a patch that will make the old enhancement system more of a skill credit purchase system. They also are increasing the lvl cap to 14 in March.

Your best bet is to either download the trial account or shell out the 14.99 to play 30 days with your old characters if you already have bought the box.

For some reason my mic is bugged so I usually never talk via voice chat but can hear everyone and really like this aspect of the game myself. Whatever your playstyle the LFG and LFM tools allow you to play with the types of groups and players you want. So if you don't want voice players make sure thats posted on your bio and Player notes.

This was by far the silliest thing they did, however a lot of people play it, and a lot of people make characters just for this. On my server the lobster is always full with people duking it.

Nothing was taken out of the PvE part of the game because of PvP reasons. Some abilities are non useable in PvP, but they exist in PvE. So please don't make up stories.

Simply not true, you need to get out to level, and most leave soon to make more cash or XP. Don't know where you came up with this last one.

The game is getting better, and is improving. This all is a process, one I have seen the beginning of, being an X beta player, and a process I keep my eye on to this very day. You can't see the process, as you no longer play, didn't play long enough to estimate the rate at which the game grows. All those stated above (in part by you) prove the game is getting better, and being imroved.

Need I remind you, they are immunity, items, DR and resistance items. The game is heavily imbalance. The only people hanging out at lobster or any other PvP are high level character who make difficult for low level character to pvp because it's all confine to one room unless duel in the inn.

Make up? Can you prove I ddin't quest with a level 6 to 8 in harbor area on elite? I do remember last november, they were ton of high level players doing elite quest in the harbor area. This is fruit of your post here because you have nothing to back this up statement nor can guarantee this guy won't run into a any high levels. I can guarantee this guy when goes to habor he's going to run into a level 6 to 10 because the quest are repeated and most players repeat quest for XP and favor.

Like I told, Sevenwind, you need to be able to back up your class before you start trolling. BTW, how do you stand to correct me on the solo content when I already mention there was more solo content coming out? You need stop trolling these forums. And I'm off this topic, you guys can make all the post you want. I'm not listening. nor do I care to give you the answer you are badly trying to get.

Can we keep the arguing down or take it to PM please. Just looking for the changes (they have to be positive) to the game as I am interested in trying again (you can't change that, so all the negative isn't needed to try and change my mind). This is why I asked here in hopes of hearing from someone currently playing or has started playing again as they most likely would have knowledge of the game based on how it was and what it is now. Actual player experience.

I can't tell you all that has changed since I have only been playing since Nov-Dec. I have an active account and in my opinion the changes are improving the game. If you want to see what is coming in this months update...http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/112340

I posted a screenshot of the upcoming patch.

But the thing is from your OP if you don't like the voice chat it is still heavily used. Ode had a great suggestion, the social panel is great for finding like minded players. If you are new to the game and make a group and want to go slow, put it on the social panel, so same goes for the voice chat thing. This isn't a bad community.

Correct. Monks are scheduled for this fall, and Druids will be in at the EARLIEST sometime next year.

Correct. They added PVP, but I disagree with your oppinion on why most people don't participate. I think most people don't participate because they aren't here for PVP. Grouping is where the fun is. Tavern Brawls are just a time killer between groups.

Partially Correct. They added solo, and you can solo even without the solo option if you want, but the solo option currently goes up to level 5 or 6 dungeons.

BZZZT. Wrong. Not even close. Improved trip is still +4 over regular trip. Not sure where you got this from.

True. There are high level players in the harbor getting favor, or possibly running some of the high level harbor quest, not sure how this affects you though.

I think we will be getting both monks and druids with the up date around September. That is what they told me. If that is true or not will be seen. I do not trust to many people for this reason.

I just browsed the DDO site and saw a dev chat posted there. The time frame for Monks is in the Fall. Druids will be much later sometime in 2008. Its a a pretty funny read and you can see that the devs have a very good sense of humor.
