Was Link Ever Smart?

Rikimaru_XRikimaru_X Member UncommonPosts: 11,718
NOTE: This is a half joke topic and half serious topic. Bare with me.

Now I only played a few Zelda games, but hear me out real quick. I don't know but it seems like Link was never prepared to save Zelda, he may not even knew what to do. It always seem that he was dumb yet became smart in the end. Why? Becuase he relied so much on other people/things, without them he wouldn't know what the hell do do. For Example:

Old Man: Hey kid.

Link: The hell you want?

Old Man: Princess has been kidnapped. Are you some kind of knight?

Link: Yeah, but no one gave me the 411 on that...MAYBE I SHOULD GO SAVE HER!

Old Man: Yeah....uhhh you should. What are you going to do?

Link: I have no damn clue. Where can I get me a sword? I panwed mine few days ago.

Old Man: Uhh, go to blah blah blah.

I had a few other examples, yet forgot. I guess that's what makes the adventure, but if you think about this, dosen't it seem that way. Now I can possibly be wrong, like I said I only played a very few games and as what I can remember seems he's just relied on people. Maybe that's what makes an adventure. Anyway can someone shead some light?

Kids aren't smart.  He gets all his eq's and maxs out, then NPC's them and waste his money on noob green clothes.  Everytime.

Atleast he doesn't ask me for plvls.

Change my mind so much I can't even trust it

I'm actually waiting for Link to say "What!? they kidnapped the princess.....again!?", too bad he will never say anything.

Come to think of it, Link is way behind. even Ryu from Breath of fire speaks now.

It would be funny if there was an Easter Egg where link finally speaks and he sounds like Samuel L. Jackson.

In some of the earlier games its not quite as bad. For example, in the N64 version (can't quite recall the name), he follows his uncle and takes the sword from him when his uncle gets cut down. Nowhere in that particular game did you get anything more than vague instructions every once in a while, more often than not simply story updates.

No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main. any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind, and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee.

And the day that happens is the day i stop playing zelda. Honestly if the lack of a half assed voice over by some totally unsuitable actor (and it will ALWAYS be unsuitable as everyone has there own idea on how he will speak) is putting you off go by some knock off version on Sony/Microsoft's current console of choice and stop trying to ruin my gaming experience.

he is a dum dum little boy. He never went to shool, had a full childhood, talked,or asked why he was doin this and what was in it for him.

My mind has changed so much. Yet I'm still acting like I'm the same.

Ehh I don't remember any uncle giving you a sword in either 64 version.  You get the first sword in the small starting village after going through a small series of mazes, and then the master sword is in the temple of time...the BIggoron sword is after a rediculously long series of delivery quests.

Your argument is like a two legged dog with an eating disorder...weak and unbalanced.

Here is a 2 part newgrounds video about Link. It's a little long but funny. I think part 2 is considered one of top videos on the site. Parts fit your statement very well IMO Riki especially in Part 2.

Look, if you are a warrior/knight. I would assume you are smart if your going to save a princess.

More importantly... Zelda seriously needs to beef up her security... Sheesh how many times has she been kidnapped now? Oh and if Link could talk he'd sound like Chris Griffin from Family Guy

The only reason the NPC's lead Link around like a little kid is because the people the games were aimed at were little kids...
