I said I wasnt going to buy the game and I didnt and im glad of it. I got a buddy key and have been playing it a bit the past couple days. My impressions are as follows. with a 3ghz geforce 7600 512mb and 1gig of RAM the game runs just fine. If you log onto wow and immediately log onto vangaurd youll think the wow graphics were laughably bad. The graphics in this game are phenomenal. The gamplay is THE EXACT SAME as wow. Hotkeys, hack and slash, grind out 10's of thousands of mobs to max level, etc. The world is MASSIVE to say the least. Its so insanely big and barren of other players it may as well not be mmo and just be SP. Thats VG in a nutshell. Good game, but def not worth buying. They fuxed up big time with the size of the world. Itd be nice if they can go back and make it more simple like wow. Cry all you want, simple is good. You CANT have a large fanbase if you cater entirely to 80+ hr/wk players. The game is already dead now that the first free month is up. GG on to warhammer.

Fine VallenRo, care to state why you think so?
Everyone is of course entitled to their opinions, having played both Horizons and Dark and Light I can tell you this is nowhere near as bad. I play Vanguard and I am having fun. Here are my thoughts on the game from another thread:
"I will try to list the games pluses and minuses according to me:
Plus:
- Huge world, that is open. No zones or artifical walls. Everything you see you can explore (but some places might take a flying mount to reach).
- Involving and fun combat, combat is really fun be it solo or group. I find it much more involving than WoW combat (I played WoW for 2 years).
- Good crafting system that is a lot more complicated then the poor WoW system, but it is not as good as crafting in EQ2 or even Horizons (ok that was the only plus Horizons had...)
- Diplomacy, a good amount of lore to be discovered and a very fun mini-game, not for everyone but it is a good invention no one has tried before.
- Mounts, horses, camels, flying mounts of different kinds. You can get your first mount at level 10 (which is a poor mount, but still helpful)
- The game does not hold your hand or spoon-feed you content. The content is there but you will have to explore to find it.
- Lots of races and classes to choose from
- Good community and never hard to find a group (at least this is so on Gelenia), quite possible to solo (I do that a lot as well) but it takes time.
- Player housing, good system for this as well, the houses are in the actual gameworld but there are special plots you can buy. There you or your friends can then build your own house.
- Player built boats and ships.
- Great graphics if you have a good system. My spec: A64 3500+, xfx 7800gt 256mb, 2gb ram. Runs the game well on balanced settings and increased drawing distances, and it is a beautiful world.
- Some good quests with intriguing storylines and fun events, but on the whole it is the usual mmo-quests.
- Non-instanced dungeons, which makes the dungeons seem much more a real part of the world.
- Immersiveness, which is the sum of all of the above pluses and design decisions.
Minus:
- Performance if you have an older system. Really ugly if you turn the graphics down to highest performance. I think they have some work left in tweaking their engine.
- Some say the graphics are dull, I don't agree. I much prefer VG-graphics to WoW or LOTRO (I got into beta yesterday), but some people still think this way.
- Bugs. Still a lot of them, but it is getting better. Much better now then when they launched the game. Still, the finish is quite poor compared to most games. WoW was much more polished on launch and LOTRO will also be really well polished (but a spoon-fed and hand-held game, I will play it anyway though)
- The grind is more of EQ1ish than WoWish and maybe it is on the grindy side of things, but the grind is fun and only a grind if you look at it that way. There are a lot of things to discover and explore even when grinding.
- Non-instanced dungeons, I write it here as well since with instances you can script events and tailor content much easier.
I think that is it. I have probably forgotten some things on both sides. If you want a game that feels in between Vanguard and WoW I would recommend that you try EQ2. It has been WoW:ified since launch, but that has only made EQ2 better in my opinion.
I play and will continue to play Vanguard, it is a game with an epic feel. I will however play LOTRO as well."
Ok I will comment on this. I would say 3-4 hours between lvl 12-13 in Vanguard is a pretty accurate estimate if you solo the whole level. When did you play? They increased the xp you get from quests by a lot in the last patch, that helps quite a bit with leveling especially if you solo.
Tried 6 quests and none worked? Wow, I have run into one, yes one, quest that did not work! And I must have done too many to count by now. But hey, you must have been unlucky, have fun in whatever game you choose to play.

I dunno try playing as the Raki. Nothing seems to work anywhere. I think i did 4 quests and none worked. May have been 5. Vangrind isnt my cup of tee. I spent about 1hr to 1.5hr's grinding level 2's to get to level 4. If i wanted to grind id go play wow. I want action! I guess i need to stick to FPS's untill someone gets it right with a mmo.

I had 2 quests bug on me, the apenlippe one, and the one at tod(which has been fixed). 2 borked quest dont matter to me. after 206 quests complete at lvl 20, i aint complaining.

None so far... ran into a bug last night but have not investigated it yet..think they changed an ability in rogue...though i didnt read the patch notes ...
Most people want to spread the stuff around ... cause they want to be heard and frankly probably only played the game through the free period. They they come back on these forums .... make noise cause that is all they do.
rofl, for one i got a fiance, second my play time is like 3 days since the headstart. cant really say that is excessive can you? you should look at the lvl 50 with 468 hour splayed, THATS excessive.
Out of every 100 men, 10 should not be there,
80 are nothing but targets, 9 are the real fighters.
Ah, but one, ONE of them is a warrior,
and he will bring the others home.
