Ok well i played for about 6-7 hrs now and im going 2 go through the things i enjoy and dont enjoy and let u no if its worth 2 buy or not etc.
Ill starts off with the pros -
Graphics- The world is beautiful, graphics amazing with great draw distance, the charecters themself are very well polished.
-
Quests-The quests arent your standere go kill this and that quests, even tho there are some of those they make it in a diffrent way 2 make it more enjoyable. Lots of exploreing in the quests whitch helps grow the game.
-
Money is made much quicker then WoW and or ffxi, the money focus is quite nice becoause u can actullly buy stuff sooner then later witch is always fun.
-
Experence- the xp in this game is on scale to WoW actully its so simuler i belive it will take the same amount of time to get to 1-20 in WoW and in LOTRO. im level 10 in 7 hrs.
Crafting - crafting in this game is simuler to wow, u put a craft set equiped then go off 2 mines or if u wanna make jewlery go 2 town get materials and click 2 raise crafting
YES IT HAS HQ IN CRAFTING , this is a big thing it tells u witch are HQ and says your % for example, if i wanted 2 make a copper ring a HQ is a blah blah ring and says u have a 5% chance 2 hq etc. this is real sexy so enjoy it
Monsters- when u begin u will notice alot of monsters from sheep to wolfs to spiders to weird bores that are desiesed and are hard 2 find lol.
Difficulty- the difficulty in this game is fairly easy 2 start off and gets harder as u play like most mmos nothing special:P
Combat, One word for combat is "Smooth" its real smooth animations are fantastic and simplistic all at once.
Titles class charecteristics - U can get titles for ownage, for example if u get to level 10 without dieing u get a title about u not dieing and u can show it off for ownage. classes in this game is nice to, if u use blocking with shields more u will get a class for it witch u can level it up and get even more sexy skillz
Skillz- buy them from trainer same as WoW lol
pvp- theres monster play witch is fine but there needs 2 be a tad more pvp.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cons
Lag- Laggy during stress test, i have a great rig over 4 gigs duel core and 8800 gts and i still get lag on max settings, if u go low or medium your lag is minimal but theres always lag in towns, but if u are like me (max max max) you will experence quite a bit of lag but im sure this will be fixed when stress test is over^^.
Bugs- even tho there are very little bugs, some of them are funny to annoying,
Funny bugs- u can jump off mountin and fly in sky Yes i aint jokeing its funny but then u fall and die:(
sometimes when u kill a mob it gets up and has a seizure, also halarious.
Anoying bugs- music can go on and off sometimes, especally early on but its ok cause i listen to my naruto music while i play ^.^
-
Feeling of Lotr- even tho we are in LOTR theres time where u belive u are in WoW cause the menus and how the game looks as in interfaces cafting etc are very simuler, NOT THE GRAPHICS THO Graphics look real realistic and amazing.
Conclusion - OWNAGE AT ITS PUREST, turbine took all the best parts of WoW gave it a LOTR combo added tons of quests beautiful world and just a amazing experence.
GO Preorder this now u wont regret it i promise. (ps yes i have spelling mistakes so dont hate:()

who me ?
You might want to check your computer on the lag... make sure you have the latest drivers, etc. I'm running on a duo core 2.1ghz, 2 gigs ram and a 7600 GT and I have to say I've never had less lag in an MMO than this game. I can run thru Bree constantly and never lag.. maybe a studder or two every once in a while. Tonight with the stress test, I did studder more, but not even worth calling lag.
I also run every setting in the game maxed... it's too nice not to see everything
Glad you like the game... enjoy!

OK, you are reviewing a game that is not released and you are listing the Stress Test performance as a "CON"????
You are listing several "bugs" as "annoying CONS" BUT the game is in BETA and its YOUR JOB to report them.... so.........they can fix them.
Save the reviews for after launch. Since you are listing test situations as "cons" take a look at what a BETA test is, I don't think you are tracking your role. You are not getting a free trial you are suppost to be testing the game and helping fix and problems, not hanging around reviewing it before it launches.
I love you guys

You find PVM to be PVP?
PVM is not PVP, it is just another form of PVE, made to sound like its PVP. This is nothing or even remotley close to any form of pvp.
I thought the graphics were pretty good and the game was really smooth as far as performance goes. I know it was a stress test but I never really had any noticeable lag issues.
I just really couldn't get into it. The instancing/zoning was kind of a turn off. In the starter town whatever buildings you could enter were instanced. At least it was a shared-instance in that you're not alone in that room when you enter, and the loading screens were fairly quick - but it still just kinda seemed unneeded. I heard someone say in game today "why is there a loading screen every 5 seconds?" It's obviously not THAT bad, but it is noticeable and just kinda bummed me out.
There were some UI / Presentation stuff that bugged me. The floating character names over people were really too big and distracting for me, but when I turned them off it became hard to separate the pcs and npcs. Maybe that'll be something that will be adjustable by release, but just certain visual things like that I wasn't feeling. Like I said, I thought the graphics were pretty good (background was nice) but just something in overall look kinda didn't work for me.
I can't really pinpoint exactly what else really rubbed me wrong, but it just didn't hit "right on" for me. Not the worst game I've played and I'm sure a lot of people will dig it, but definately not something that I'd keep on my harddrive , let alone pay a monthly fee for.
LotRO managed to make a massivly multiplayer "where is waldo".
Massive ammounts of quests with very little information given. No map with npcs. No npcs you can talk to to guide you to other npcs. If a game is going to entertain me by leading me all over thier game world with quests, at least make it so it is not painfull and frustrating to do the quest. If you like wandering around a game world stumbling over stuff hoping to find what you are looking for then this is the game for you.
The interface was ok. It borrowed from every other MMO out there.
The combat was lackluster as it is just a button mashing skill spam combat system like too many mmos.
Loading screens everywhere.
World design was well done. I did feel like the maps and scenery was a pleasant to look at.
Character models and character animation were definatly not as polisehd as the level/map design.
I had no sense of being in middle earth. LotRO did not capture the feeling of a world on the razors edge between good and evil.
No detail on minimap or main map to help find quest objectives or npcs. It is not fun wandering around for an hour in a town trying to find an class trainer.
Many annoying mob issues such as mob teleportation, dead mobs appearing as frozen live mobs, and no interesting combat to make one mob feel like a differnt fight than any other mob.
The only unique feature in LotRO is monster play. It is ok... but is it enough?
If you want to spend your time wandering aimlessly looking for solutions to quests this is the game for you. This is mostly a PVE quest game with some overly scripted quests and monster play tacked on. I have played 2 days and I am already bored. There is nothing unique or intreaguing other than monster play to alure me to LotRO. Sure, I will enjoy monster play for a little bit but not enough to convince me to buy LotRO.
Do the quests provide enough xp to be a good substitute of grinding?
Your objection is like saying there is no PvP in WoW because one guy's is playing an orc or a bloodelf (or whatever).
Besides, isn't all your PvP really PvM - after all, trolls are definitely monsters...
I actually think levelling is too easy at the moment - I tend to outlevel my quests. But I hear that this is a feature of the beta - they want people to test the high levels too, so need people to level fast - and this will be toned down for release.
LoL Yeah. I started out as Hobbit ministrel, and by the time i was 6 i went to the main town/area. "Shrine" There is a chain quest, delivering mail which gives u a nice +1 power boost. The quest gives u 300+ exp per mail delivered. It is chained 13 times so thats alot of exp just for delivering mail Also the farther u need to take the mail the more exp u get. And the exp system is cumulative which means, at start u need 100 exp then the next u start at 100, and u need to get to 250 which means u only need 150. Etc etc, overall questing and exping is beautifull. The quests are very nice and so are the graphics alongside of it.
Ouch.
And the outdoor main world has no instancing - it is seemless and the only indication that you have changed area is that your regional chat channels change.
The starter quest area is indeed instanced, but that is the tutorial (which you can skip). From your comments, I suspect that is as far as you got. (Was it to challenging for you - did you need to get back to your carebear Vanguard?)

This game got me moore hooked as Vanguard, i run the best of the best PC out now. Duo core 6800 extreme, 4 gig ram and 2 GTX cards, and still Vanguard lags for me, chrashes sometimes and thats on balanced settings ( then u know something is wrong). I plugged in the stress test of LoTRO in last nite. I put all settings to the max on 1680/1050 Hooray for widescreen LCD's!!!. And this baby looks so hot on Antialising X8, never lags... only a jitter here and there but thats cause it had 300/400 peeps in the same area... and this is still the stress test!

Pvp in lotr depends on chahrcters creating a monster lvl 50 and going to another region, and just restricted to that region, there is no chance of world pvp etc. The PVM is a hybrid PVP/PVE style of play. The only chance of pvp happpening in this region is if there are lvl 45+ PC in that region m8. PVM is by no means any real pvp, like i said before this is just another term for pve.

The 'mosters' can be played as long as you have a character above level 10. The PCs can only engage in PvP once they are high enough level to handle lvl 50 enemies. So it is somewhat restricted, but it is still definitely real PvP.
If you had ever tried 'mosterplay' you would have found that there are plenty of PC's to play against, so it is definitely player attacking player.
Also, WoW's battlegroups is a restricted area, but that is still PvP.
M8, wows pvp is not restricted, even if i played on a pve server i could go and attck IF/Org or any other town or city for that matter. Pvp server i can attck whoever i like if they not same faction as me.
PVM is restrcited, due to the simple fact you have to hope any lvl 45+ are in that area, if they are not how are u going to do pvp?
You can always do the pve quests for your lvl 50 monsoter in that zone i suppose then. I

Lol u u trully are an idiot. M8 let me tell you quests from lvl 1-20+ even ungrouped quests are instanced. You trully are an idiot. I dont play vanguard, but calling vanguard carebear, lol
Erm, I am not entirley sure where all this instancing in the game is comming from as I am yet to find an instanced quest except for the end of each chapter of the story driven quest lines. It also has to be said that the instancing works very well with these particular quests giving you a more unique feeling as you are running the quest. Sure there are underground areas that are separate zones to outside [which isn't exactly unusual for MMORPG's] but they are not instances exclusive to just one group, anyone can come in and interact.

Ok MATE (hehe) well anyways no this guy is not an idiot, grats on making a fool of yourself, there are hardly any instanced quests in the game from 1-20, you are very misinformed about this game, you also stated that there is no actual PvP??? PvM is PvP, there is a monster controlling that player, and you can go into the monster lands and fight them as your main character, how is that not PvP?
