Why is WoW on the tip of everyones tounges and yet Eq2 is recieving no love what so ever? even being dogged. Don't get me a wrong, i'm a big fan of Blizzard and i've played every game they've made for PC. It just feels that EQ2 should recieve more appreciation. What is it about WoW that has captured everyone?

Not just that, but the fact that Blizzard's doing something they've never done before, and taking a product such as Warcraft and turning it into a MMORPG, although many elements aren't revolutionary, their doing things as if they've been working in the MMORPG industry for decades.

I don't want to hear anything about EQ2 on a WoW forum thread. Keep it where it belongs. Just the mention of that game makes me queasy.

The worst custommer support I've recived in my entire life was from SOE when I got SWG. From that time I've promised myself to never play a game made by SOE ever. They will have to work hard to have my money back again...

Rofl, that made me laugh so hard. And most people (on gaming forums, at least) puke when they hear SOE, they completely ruined SWG :P I remember a post on their boards in the beta that said "Why not call it Galaxies then add Star Wars when there's actually Star Wars in it?"

This thread turned pretty bad, very fast. If you hate SOE, i don't blame you, but don't start bashing it like were all 5 year old fanboys. Not liking SOE for whatever reasons you have, is fine. But by bashing it like "eq2 has some f'in ugly graphics, honestly, its all bubbly n plasticy, wth @_@ so gay, f eq2" It'll just open the gates for a flame war that isn't needed. Something most would hate to see on these boards.

With that said, he asked the simple question like his topic states. Wondering why EQ2 isn't maybe getting much attention as WoW, is a thread that relates to WoW, which means it's fine posting it here. As far as being able to handle the question as mature adults, after a reading a couple posts in here already, i have my doubts if that's possible. And unfortuately no matter where you go, you'll find people who ruin it for the rest.

I hear that. Back in the EQ days, I had a petition that took 14 days to answer. That level of customer support is just rediculous. I think WoW is getting more attention due to Blizzard's record of releasing high-quality games AND SUPPORTING THEM(I mean hell, they still make good war3 maps and they aren't required to).

The reason WoW is getting so much attention is bcuz Blizzard have always gone for the i dont know wat u call it ( the birds eye view with all the armies running around). But now they have or making a game that has better graphics than most, if not all mmorpg's. just imagine Warcraft 1,2 and 3 all the men you've controlled just imagine you could almost be one of them. If you say then Y isnt starcraft ghost as popular (its still popular,so, no offense to it) because starcraft has never been as popular.

I played EQ for one year. It was a good game don't get me wrong, but the fact that they had so many expansions and it was so big put me off of it. It may just be me, but I have played many MMORPs and that was just way too big!

Well my last message didn't come up so here I try once again. I have played many MMORPGs and I found that EQ was way too big. It also had too many expansions and I had to keep buying them to keep up with the game. I played it for a year and gave up because I never felt even close to accomplishing anything on the game. Sure I got to level 68 but it took me forever. It may just be me thinking that, other people may like big games; lol I don't.

Hey, I said no more discussing EQ in any shape or form on these threads.

Seriously tho, the mention of EQ just brings about flame wars, or at the very least dialogue that accomplishes nothing. Doesn't matter who likes EQ, who doesn't like EQ, why they do or don't, because what yer trying to do is compare that to WoW. Which you won't be able to accomplish successfuly by asking that question on either thread. Talk about the pro's and cons of WoW on the WoW forum all you want, but any mention of EQ is going to get unfair assesment. Since most of the ppl who like WoW come here, and not to the EQ thread. If a poll was held on each thread "Which game do you like better" I have a feeling the results on the WoW thread would be far different from the results on the EQ thread.

In closing, if yer only going to respond and say that I spelled something wrong, or I came accross with "the wrong kind of attitude" plz don't bother posting because you've missed the ENTIRE point of my post.

Oh also, I'm aware most of you weren't "comparing" them, and what his question was when he started the thread. Yet asking why one game is getting more attention, is like hinting for ppl to say why one is better or worse than the other.

Simple answers to your simple question though could be one or all of many things

developer reputation

marketing

media hype

E3 coverage and the media-public's response to what they saw-played

stage of the game, beta-alpha-phase1/2 etc etc

features, lore of the game

Hmmm thats almost funny. To those who doesnt follow progaming in Korea(Starcraft). I can tell you that Starcraft is the most popular game to date. It is the best selling game ever, its the most played game to this day and its one of the select few games that has a share of proffesional gaming.

On topic: Blizzard`s has a good reputation of focusing on gameplay rather than content/graphics and when the screenshots looks decent, its bound to be a good game(not nessecarily). Like people have already mentioned, EQ2 is SOE's work and SOE's has made themselves become the easiest targfet for hate. Their support is ridicolous, they destroyed what could have been a great game(SWG) followed by other good reasons.

I'd like to see where you get your information. Starcraft is no where near, or ever will be never the top selling game in the world. I dont need to back up, what i thought was common knowledge with a link. When i say that soccer is the most popular sport, should i need a link to "prove" it as well? Dont blame me that you do not know anyhting regarding this issue. I can tell you that without Korea, Starcraft would probably only be in the top 10 or top 20 of the most popular games atm, though. I can tell that you are an american, that may give you a hint, that the world consist of more than USA.

Every magazine, every website, everywhere I have have read about any game has never show starcraft claiming the top. Making a statement of "I don't need to back it up, it's common knowledge" is generalized bullshit. I never claimed its "Top of the world", i said its the most popular game even to this day, that means it has the most players playing it. If you werent so ignorant, i would have bothered finding a link(maybe i will anyway). About that your are American, im new to the site and i hadnt noticed the user info option, i just guessed that you were American, based on your ignorance. If you dont like Starcraft, its fine with me, but it doesnt change the facts. Call it discriminatory, but its also common knowledge that Americans tend to not have a clue about what is going on outside of their country.
