Did they? If we didn't pay we wouldn't have the huge updates like the recent one. They do update once every two months or so. We wouldn't have people working all the time for security, people working all the time to fix bugs, GMs, etc. We definitely wouldn't have near as many servers as we do now since they not only have to pay for the servers, but for the electricity bills to run them and the buildings that house them, the staff to run and secure each server, et al. This game would not be near what it is now if we didn't pay.
If MMORPGs didn't have monthly fees then you would only be able to play them for a short time because the companies would not be able to afford the upkeep and the games would never get new content, or they would just have to make an expansion every two months to make money and provide people with new stuff to keep them playing.
If you think that it is stupid to pay to play thengo ahead and buy a $50 dollar game every two weeks because you beat it. While I keep playing the same game and only paying $12 a month. And you might say that playing the same game over and over is dumb or not fun. But it isn't, I have fun with the new items, areas, and content even though I have to pay $12 dollars a month for it is still less expensive then buying new games all the time.

Don't atack him dude... i bet he is young that why he lack some vocabulary or do not share the same idea as us. What would you do if you had 10-12 year old and u wanted to play Final Fantasy 11?
U would ask your parent... what if they didn't want? Eeek u got it... maybe he want to play the game bad but he can't.
Personally i don't mind paying 12 bucks per month.. it's not even the 1/3 of what i spent on drinks when im going out... shessh.
Anyway please be more considerated

Well if it were free, they would make no money, and money is what Squaresoft wants. This game is a mere filler to keep people interested in FF, in my opinion this is a very poorly designed MMO (it has no REAL PvP, only 2 professions at a time, really horrible combat engine, ect). In fact... I might even say that Runescape is better... which is pretty low to go .
Games worth looking at: Morrowind and all the expansions Anarchy Online Wish Everquest and any of its decandants Daggerfall (Good 'ol time-wasting 2D) Neverwinter Nights and the expansions There are more but i've seem to run out of space :P
I'm not going to address any game issues. I'm quite tired of it. You have your way, I have mine. However, it's hardly a filler until the next Final Fantasy game comes out. If that were true, they would have dropped the game when Crystal Chronicles came out.
It is a filler, why would they make a game with such limited features as a major attraction?
CC is on the GC, Nintendo made a deal with Square so they could milk the FF and GC franchise further. All this FF stuff is to hold off until the movie, which manipulates FF 7.

So they could milk the FF and GC franchise further? CC is the first FF game for the GC. You'd also be a retard to think that companies are supposed to make games without the intent of making money. Of COURSE they want to make money. But they do a good job with the games. CC was a great game.

Let me guess you live in the US? Some people don't get paid in US dollars . For me to play a US game it costs me over $20 a month Canadian plus the exchange fee. So if you think outside the box alot of people are paying alot more than you and others still might not be working so its alot to them.

Well not sure where you get this from since your monthly fee is usually not used for game maintanance anyways. EG.. Funcom posted there monthly subscription is revenue and SoE has used there monthly subscriptions from EQ to finance SWG/Planetside/EQ2/EQ for playstation and a couple of other small MMoRPG's plus a few offline games. So stating that they need this $15 a month to maintain the game is incorrect. There making the game to make money.
But for those out there that can't afford to pay to play check out Guild Wars in a few months.. First MMoRPG with no monthly fee..

I still cant believe people dont understand why MMORPGs are P2P... I guess it's just ignorance.. (I understand that in reality most mmorpgs make a hell a lot more money then they use on updates and servers and etc.)

I think this could all be settled by agreeing upon the fact that it was stupid to pay for FF11 in the first place.
