Question about pets/followers

I've been playing a Captain lately and I notice that the AI pathing on the Herald is really, really bad.  He gets stuck/lost on the tiniest of uneven ground, or a tree, or a fence, or a rock.  It is very frustrating!

Does anyone know if this happens to other classes with pets, or just with Captains?  Hopefully Turbine will get it fixed soon.  Thanks!

P.S. This game is very good!

I know they're working on it and it seems a bit better than it has been.  (I have a lvl 21 Captain)

My Herald doesn't really get stuck on things any more.  The main problem is him despawning after just stopping and not following me.  I think they could really ease the problem a bit if they just took the recast timer off the Herald.  Buffs are quick to cast, so I wouldn't be so bothered if I could just summon him  whenever I wanted and not have to wait.

Glad you're enjoying the game!  The Captain class does needs some definite love, but I've really been having a great time playing the profession.. he's a bit of everything.

I rolled a lore-master to see how the other side lives... haven't played a Captain, though my friend does. My raven does get a case of the wanders quite a bit, he seems to like to sit about at times, rather than follow me, then he desummons, and I summon him again (my raven is as scatterbrained as myself it seems)... that along with horses running off the beaten track and suiciding are errors that I have encountered.

I saw Jackdog's post, I report them as errors via the game interface.

most of these posts are trying to discredit the positive build the game is getting . Think the BBC article pretty much sums it up ,

    who me ?

Come on... the person asked a completely vaild and true question.  Don't think that any post less than perfect about LOTRO is trolling.  No one said the game isn't great and that we don't plan on playing it.

Don't do the blind fanboi thing... I like LoTRO, and I ain't going to say it to please you, every time I post about this game. So get a piece of paper write "Aurelyn likes LoTRO", stick it to your monitor.

No offence Mars505, but I am getting sick of the censorship thing, there is another forum where I can go to get my fix of absurdist commentary.

Something I've noticed in MMO's. Pet pathing has always been buggy, ESPECIALLY in beta. It should be fixed before release, no problem.

Pet pathing has been an issue in the turbine engine since asheron's call 2...guess they still haven't fixed it.

Everything else is 1000% better though.

Yeah, I /bugged this on my Captain today. Haven't played a Loremaster for a few months so not sure if they are affected.

I hope so!  I also notice that a lot of mobs get stuck on terrain, so I think there must be some bad programming overall in the NPC pathing, or else they limited the searches in order to improve server performance.

Aside from that, I really like this game (reminds me very much of WoW 1-60 but with improvements).  I just wish Captains' single-target heal could be used on themselves too.
