Opensource AC2 servers! Why I have a CD with all this nice art and graphics and can't do a thing with it?

I'll just put it next to my EARTH and BEYOND CD. Which I can't do anything with.

    good luck with that....

it really was such a good game just so misguided by moronic development.

A little bump on this long forgotten petition.   Since LoTRO looks like it will be a big seller, maybe we can get a couple turbine devs to get us up a classic AC2 server with their new found riches.   Viva la AC2!

If you didnt play AC2 towards the end, you really dont know how the game was. it took some major turns in the last patches, improving the game immensly. Now, i dont claim you would have like it, only that it was two whole different games. :)

And i really hope Turbine will listen, and yeild to the die hard AC2 fans, and give us one or two servers to enjoy our game on now that they probably will earn a hand full of gold.

I thought the expansion was a vast improvement. The loot/exp was very good there as well as the quests.

I think they should open up a server again and just say there will be no more developement on it. They could only fix the expliots and bugs found. Basically they could charge like 5 something dollars a month to cover bandwith costs or something. I'd even be open to in game advertising just to get in there and play again.

    I miss my drudge.

A more telling petition was already submitted to Turbine that resulted in AC2's cancellation.  It's called subscriptions.  There weren't enough to keep it going so why do you think this has changed?
  • Let the dead rest in peace. AC2 was a mistake from the start. If Turbine and Microsoft had put all that dev time and money into upgrading AC1 with new graphics and engine, they might have had a hit.

I don't believe updating AC's graphics would help as much as everyone thinks. Turbine had the right idea of making AC2 so different and easier than AC1.

AC is too complex and too open. There's almost no way we can live without third party sites in AC. Without them we would miss a lot or most of the content. Turbine is fixing it now by putting better documentation and descriptions in the game and also maybe someday adding a quest panel. Even with that AC is still pretty complex. Most people don't have the patience for it, which is why WoW is so successful because of its ease and hand holding.
