Howdy, Stranger!

It looks like you're new here. If you want to get involved, click one of these buttons!

The devil is in the details.

Interested classes coupled with an already addictive trait system, in turns produces a very addicting game play system. I cannot help but grind out traits because to me it’s almost like collecting. Trait system is a form of AA, the fact that it launches with an AA makes it a very ambitious game.

Deep engaging story telling… only FFXI provides this but in LotrO its imbedded in the game, its not some side sht. Lotro is the only game that does this.

A return to small raiding, more close knit community settings. The endgame won’t be about who can blind invite who the fastest, there will be more of an emphasis on community.

Finally a next gen mmorpg. A game that will take advantage of today’s technology but will also take advantage of all the bleeding edge stuff coming down the pipe line but some how does not marginalize the low end user, in fact the low end users are going to be very happy with what they see compared to other games… very happy indeed.

Combat that is both interesting and visceral, in LotrO you cannot go afk… you are always doing something. Most of the classes have abilities that link, or lead into other stronger abilities… coupled with the junction system you have a much more entertaining and thought provoking combat engine. Far better then Vanguard, WoW , EQ and on… it is something that reminds me off FFXI skill chain system. Back to the visuals or combat animations, those are also spot on. I am very happy with the fact that turbine doesn’t reuse stuff. Every ability has its own unique and nice animation; even auto attack has its own animations… its not like vanguard where you just do the same old sht every single “turn”… If MMORPGs cant delivery the type of combat that we see in say, Zelda then these engines must be more visually appealing. IMO LotrO could use more work on this front, it does a good job but always could do more… sht every game needs help on this front but at least Turbine did everything in order, instead Vanguard just skips through everything, its as if they didn’t even have a project plan when they made that game.

The most important thing going for this game … MIDDLE EARTH. W/o question Lotro has the most amazing looking world I have ever seen. A world that some how manages to be large but also alive, a world that is just breath taking.

What we need to see down the pipeline

Player and guild Housing, this is a must.

Get crafting to work for the community. Right now there is no clear reason why I should craft. My motivation for crafting should be greed, so I expect to be able to make some high end items… right now I just don’t see it like that… its just a side thing.

Attention to class balance, we all know some classes just are not going to be needed, try to fix them early.

Expand the trait system, this needs to grow and become deeper. In fact, I wouldn’t even increase the level cap, but just expand the trait system.

More reaction based skills, more combat animations; again we cannot make a Zelda online in an mmo so we need to further buff the visuals.

Change the insta horse traveling to something more interesting. I would suggest something like a caravan, a caravan that could be ambushed or attacked… Maybe make this instanced.

Very much agreed. Also with the recent news of world events going in like in AC1, this game has sold me. Literally playing through the story of the War of the Ring (and my they have a lot of material to work with!) is going to be a great gaming experience. The people who say it's boring must be fans of hack and slash mass-kill games or something, because it's absolutely addictive to me. I find my biggest complaint is that I have a month left of closed beta, and I desperately want to play my character, yet I know he will be wiped.

oh what i read about the the combat system, it reminds me more of DAOC than ffxi. Daoc had combos like the ones in lotr, 1 skill takes you to the next which was utterly fun,

Watching Fanbois drop their soap in a prison full of desperate men.

considering there is anotehr 8 weeks of beta ( closed and open ) left I wonder how much more refined the game wil be by the time it hits the shelves?

    I miss DAoC

It should be pretty damned refined by then. Or else Turbine messed up. But it will be refined because they haven't screwed up with LOTRO. Yet... and hopefully never.

    Currently: Playing EVE Online
Previous: FFXI, Dragonrealms, sad little stint in WOWland.
Awaiting: Fallen Earth, Hero''s Journey, Tabula Rasa, Age of Conan.

In terms of crafting, I was level 11 and my girlfriend was level 12 and the first 2 things I could craft were better than what we had. As long as crafted goods always stay better than all but the rarest drop we're golden.
