Yes, you can actually bring T1 into the fight and in most cases it won't change much. I simply felt very uncomfortable, when most of my gang-mates were bringing HAC's, command ships or recon cruisers and I was flying a miserable T1 cruiser. Or when an FC asks to bring a battleship with T2 guns and ammo and you bring a T1 fitted ship. Besides that, I had all skills trained at high lvl for fully T2 fitted HAC, and I never used it, after time it just became too depressing. yeah sadly T2 guns for sniping is one of the few times you really need it though thankfully I can fly a rohk so I don't need that T2 sniper setup. I actually enjoy fighting against the T2 ships but not in them, they are just to cap dependant, one Curse or Nos domi and your hosed. You try any of the new tier 2 BCs for combat they seem to work well in combat? And I feel you on the not using the skills part, training for a dreadnought and doubt it will see the light of space often.
I'd strongly suggest avoiding Eve. The two biggest problems with the game : (1) You have to wait on real time to pass to gain any skills...after your basic skills you have to constantly wait and wait for real life to pass to advance in this game...as you move into the higher level skills, you have to wait longer and longer periods of time, often up to a month or longer for 1 lvl 5 skill....that is $15 of your subscription for this one skill....
So true, 2-3 year veteran will always have more sp (skill) then you. So, in some way, they will always be better and/or be able to do more stuff in game and sadly, the more money you give to CCP the better is your char, despite the amount of time you wish or could put in game.
And a 2 or 3 year veteran should be better then a newer player. This is no WOW where you can grind out a lvl 70 in a few weeks and be as good as the guy thats put yrs into the game, and amen for that.
It's life stealing in part because it's so revolutionary.
Eve is very deep, very complex, and very revolutionary.
Unfortunately it's a snoozer.
Hmmm that's funny cause EVE can keep my up till the wee hours of the morning whereas WoW puts me right to sleep.
Whoever said there was plenty of action in Eve is a moron.
It takes you 20 fuckin seconds just to undock and 3-4 seconds on average for the ship to respond to commands.
And how long does it take to zone in EQ2 or any other game with zones? At LEAST 20 seconds if not more and in my case it's more like 10. Get a better computer or net connection if it's taking you that long.
Every time you lose a ship it takes you hours to buy and equip a new ship, and more hours ratting or mining to pay for all the shit you bought.
Congratulations!! You suck at planning. I've got roughly 10 ships of all types prefitted and ready to go at a moments notice and none of them are fitted with any rediculously priced modules because they don't need to be. Still got plenty of isk in my wallet as well to replace them with when they go poof. So once again to reiterate, you suck at planning.
Yes Eve has alot of good qualities, none of which cover up the one fatal bad quality that Eve is a snooze-fest.
It literally is as exciting as watching paint dry, and that's the PVP not the extra-extra boring part such as ratting or mining.
If I had to use one word to describe Eve it would be "Wait."
Wait to undock. Wait for gang. Wait for rats. Wait for mining laser. Wait for skills. Wait for ship to respond to commands.
Anything you want to do, the first thing you do is wait.
So what we've discovered, besides the fact that you have poor planning skills, is that you don't like the control scheme for EVE. That's you're only valid gripe with the game and is a valid OPINION.
I love Eve because I have a real life outside the game...I take a day or two off and can go visit friends to come back to a character that has progressed over two days even though I havent played at all.
On top of that its a fun game, enough said. But once again I gotta say..dont let a game engulf your life...
This is the main reason I like Eve so much. As a married graduate student, I don't have a whole lot of undivided time I can spend just sitting in front of my computer levelling like I did on EQ (single and undergrad...those were the days). With Eve, I can set up my mining barge and with a small amount of attention keep it running for hours while I study, read papers, etc. And then, when I need to be offline, either running an experiment at school or doing something with the wife, my character still progresses in skills. Tried to do that in SWG, but instead of just popping on for an hour or so a day, I would have to spend several finding a new source of whatever base material my harvesters where harvesting, but can't anymore.
I guess it really comes down to irl playing style, but for me, now, I like Eve just fine.

Question : Is Eve revolutionary or Life-Stealing?
Answer : Both.

Hi, I was on Kette too, a long time ago, I was only really active Pre-CU. What was your character then?
Oh, and what is your mining corp, and where is it? If you are recruiting I may have a character interested in mining with you.
