What kind of hardware are you running and what problems do you have while running VG?

Girlfriend is  running an Intel 6600 core 2 duo, 7950 GT, 2 gigs of ram. She doesn't have a problem.

I run a 6600 core 2 duo, 8800 GTX and 2 gigs of ram, the 7950 has less problems but doesn't get the framerates of the 8800.

    I'm running a Sager 9890 Laptop:

    • P4 3.4 GHz HyperThreaded
    • 2.0 GB RAM
    • 256 MB GeForce 7800 GTX Go
    • Dual 100 GB 7200 rpm SATA (Data-striped)

I'm able to run with full graphics turned on at about 10 FPS, but I normally play with High Performance profile to get my FPS up.  I believe they have not fully tweaked the graphics engine yet, because similar graphics settings on other games produces better results.  In a matter of time, I expect I'll be able to ramp up my settings further and still be playable.

P.S.  I'm loving the game, it's a breath of fresh air to someone who's played every MMORPG ever released!

    Dual Core 4200+

    2gb ram

    7600GT OC'd edition

    250 gb SATA HDD

ran a lot better on day one than it does today for me, for some reason. It's gone downhill with each patch :(

I'm working on some things to figure out what's causing my failing performance with this game (it's only VG that is progressively getting worse) but for now I had to cancel. My month is just about up and it's almost unplayable even on the lowest settings... i know this is not happening to everyone, and I am not blaming the game really... I am just frustrated with trying to figure out why it keeps getting worse.

I played the first two weeks running really well on high settings.

Just curious ,I have 1g of ram and a ATI Radeon X300 Pci-e 128 video card,  Which would be better to upgrade for performance ?  I was thinking 2 gigs of ram would do the trick also I'm running a 2.8 p4. Havent tried the game yet but just wanted to know what would help me...Thxs

I want to make one important point here before I post my specs. One thing that people always, always ignore and never bother to post or talk about is their video display resolution. This is the number of pixels the game has to display to your monitor. And it makes a very critical difference. Running the game at 1024x768 requires far less pixels to be displayed than 1280x1024 or 1600x1200. If you just change your resolution on a single machine, without touching the other settings -- in any game, not just in Vanguard -- you will usually see the frame rate drop. That's because you are forcing the computer to do more computations each second. Each and every pixel has to be re-drawn if you  move across a landscape, and that means if you have more pixels to re-draw your GPU is going to have to do more work.

Just to see what I mean, if you have a 1024x768 display, you are looking at 786,000 pixels. But if you have a 1280x1024 display, you are looking at 1.3 million pixels. That's almost twice as many, which means your machine is working twice as hard to display the same image. Bump it to 1600x1200 and it's almost 2 million pixels -- 50% more than the 1280x1024 res, and almost triple the number of pixels at the lowest res in this example. You cannot expect to get the same performance re-drawing 3 million pixels every second as re-drawing 700,000... it's just not possible.

Now that's not to say the game should not have good performance at the higher res -- those higher res values are fairly standard today. But when I see a friend in IM chat complaining about his frame rate, and then saying he's running at 1920x1600 (or something like that), I just have to chuckle.  I'm not saying you guys should all start running at lower res (my monitor is LCD, and those usually run best at factory-spec res, which in my case is 1280x1024, for instance). But, if you are going to post specs and talk about performance, resolution is a very relevant, I would say critical, piece of information. I suspect that, when people have basically the same system, and one gets good performance and one not, the secret difference between them is resolution.

Now, that all said, my specs:

    3.2 GHz single core P4

    2 GB RAM

    256 MB GeForce 7800 GS

    1280x1024 resolution

I have very few performance issues -- no worse than any other MMORPG. I run on "balanced" settings (the default for balanced). I typically get frame rates in the mid-20s to mid-30s, averaging just about 29 FPS. I will get hiccups of teens and even single digits here and there, more often in crowded areas like the dwarven crafting hall. But these are usually temporary and after my machine has a chance to "load" everything in, that usually goes away. I'd say I play 85-90% of the time at over 25 FPS. That's about as good as the performance I used to get in City of Heroes/Villains, provided I similarly had that game set on what Vanguard would call "balanced" video settings.

Mine is set at 1280x960, so guessing that should be good

    C2Duo E6600 (stock 2.4ghz)

    4Gig DDR2-667 Ram

    8800 GTX 640MB

Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit edition

Run my game at 1440x900 (19" widescreen) at highest quality all the time - get some frame rate issues (sometimes drops to teens) with lots of NPC's/players around - but never in combat areas or dungeons where its always 25-40fps (and often much higher).  Usually perform the occaisional /flush which can give a few fps boost if things seem to be bogging down.  As long as the fps is above 25-30 I'm happy as this doesn't create any lag/response issues.

Vanguard NEVER crashes on me.  I get graphical glitches (blinking trees etc), and other probs, but so far the game hasn't crashed (since I sorted out hardware).  I'm not sure if this is because I use /flush every hour or two, or something else.  My only big issue is still with the hitching loading new areas - but this can vary wildly

One day I might run into leth nurae and it will be shocking (well for my system anyway).  Next day (session) I'll be out fighting and come back to Leth Nurae and run right up to my sorcerer trainer almost without a hitch.

    When I first bought VG:

    AMD  Athlon 3200+

    X800XT PE

    1 gig crappy ram

Ran on high performance settings with bells and whistles turned down, got a playable 20-30 fps unless in highly populated areas.

    Recently upgraded to:

    E6600

    8800GTX

    2 gigs Kingston RAM @800mhz

Got everything turned up to full, get > 30 fps pretty much everwhere. Only had 1 crash in about 40 hours playtime, but i do get this odd bug where if travel across a long distance quickly (ie ride horse along a road for 20 mins) my frame rate rushes down to single figures and stays there until i relog. Manageable bug but still a little annoying (it doesn't happen in dungeons when Im travelling slowly).

Are you running a pair of Raptor X hard drives? And are you running the RAID 0 off the mobo or a RAID card?

i run in raid off the mobo 680I board.  Currently no i do not have raptor drives as my drives i got were one of the firsts that came out in sata 2.0.  I do plan on eventually getting a couple raptor drives though.

    Asus P5W DH Deluxe mobo

2 GB 800Mhz Dual Channel RAM

    7200rpm HDD

e6600 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo- Overclocked to 3.1 Ghz until I can get higher

    Nvidia 512mb 7950GT

    Sound Card- X-Fi Fatal1ty

7.1 surround sound home theatre system

    46" widescreen monitor

    4ms response time & 10,000:1 contrast

    Resolution: 1920x1080

Settings: Very High - to - Absolute Max

FPS: Average 20-30 on max settings at 1280x1024 resolution, sometimes 10-20 in town.

Haven't tried it at 1920x1080, but suspect I won't be able to have max settings.

I prefer AT LEAST 40 fps, if not 60+ fps, but I can live with only 30. Anything below 30 is ridiculously slow and choppy.

Biggest problem: No object draw distance option. Objects, npc's, and everything except major environment (trees, mountains, buildings, etc.) "pop" into existence, ruining all immersion and making for very crappy graphics.

Biggest Annoyance: Human characters are cartoony in a realistic environment. Humans have Fonzie grease-hair even in total darkness. Horrible animations.

running on a gateway 19Inch wide screen at 1440x900

I run the game in single card mode and i also run it at highest settings maxed out get about 50-70 fps on average and bout 25-40 depending on towns in SLI i actually lose performance but i guess cause the game isnt SLI friendly yet

i have talked 2 friends of mine into investing into a 7900 GS oc vid card and they both are on 2 dell computers and the game runs like butter =)

    3.2 GHz P4

    2GB pc3200

    XFX 7800GTX

    XP Pro - SP 2

    I play at 1280 x 1024.

I think I have surprisingly good fps for this system. I play at everything at max (except volymetric clouds) and gets 25-30 in combat outside town, 30+ when not in combat. Don't lower when in town but get around 10 fps.

    • AMD Athlon 2000+ (1.67ghz)
    • 786mb RAM (PC2700, 512mb is Kingston)
    • ATI Radeon 9600XT (128mb)
    • Cable Broadband

I run a modified High Performance setting with 1152 x 864 resolution.  I get 10-20fps outside of towns and 0-5 fps in big towns (Khal & New Targonar).  I do get mobs popping close to aggro range because of my setup but that's when I am on a horse.  I have up to 5 second Chunk times but it used to be 30+ .  I have also done the .ini tweeks listed in this forum.

Just not worth my time anymore.

Running it on an Amd 3500+ , 3 GB ram , Leadtek 8800GTX  @ 1600x1200  on highest quality settings, getting roughly 40-45 avg outdoors ,  drops down to 20-25 avg in lag heavy areas

Do encounter white graphic bugs and CTD's from time to time,

I run an AMD X2 4200+, 4 gigs XMS ram, 300 gb raptor(for games), 8800gts, X-FI soundcard, and an 24 inch dell monitor.  With my monitor, I get around 15-25 fps in cities and around 25-40 fps in the wild ungrouped.

I do get a lot of white textures with the latest 100.65 drivers from nvidia.  I've never had this happen before in a game.  Other than that my machine runs it fine.

Honestly, you could use both. However in your case, spend your money on a new video card. Get at least an X800-class or an Nvidia 7800 class card. I played Vanguard OK with 1GB of RAM before my upgrade less than a week ago.

    My specs are as follows:

    Intel D945 Motherboard

    Intel Pentium D 820 2.8 GhZ CPU

    2GB DDR2 667

    Radeon X800XL 256MB GDDR3

    On-board sound

Running Vanguard off a 120GB SATA 3.0Gb/s HDD, Western Digital.

Game is playable at 1280x1024 on Balanced. FPS drops sometimes, especially when approaching the crafting area, but so far not unplayable at all. Looks pretty good, and I keep the grass and shadow effects on.

I see where Ver.. er Sigil messed up, they should of put the recommended hardware at a duel core processor and a 7800+ Gforce card with atleast 2 gigs of ram.

Now anytime anyone posts a complaint about lag, everyone in this thread should ask for their hardware stats. When they reply with a Pentium 4 2.0 Ghrz, 512 megs of ram and a gforce 6300 vid card, we can all laugh at them and tell em to go play WoW.

amd fx-57 with 3 gigs or ram and a 7800gtx on vista at a 1680x1050 resolution..running all settings on max except grass density (50%) and i average about 20fps, but does dip into low teens
