I know Ryzom is under new ownership, at least I believe that is the case, and unlike other games it went well. I think I remember hearing that the devs were kept on. At least I heard nothing bad about it.
Are there still plans to keep expanding the game and adding new content or are the new owners just keeping things up and running?
How did the Ryzom Ring expansion go? Also how is the population (not just during the trial but afterward)?
Thanks.

That alone says enough, they fired CSRs due to lack of resources and are now looking for volunteers to help keep Ryzom going.
I'd stay clear if I were you, the ship is sinking, don't be a rat!
Nevrax, the original developer company, has always been making losses ever since early development and launch. When GF bought up Ryzom they also took over Nevrax and kept the majority of the developers, as they know the game best. So the same people are working on the game, different people to answer to and sending them their paychecks.
GF's main aim right after the takeover is to turn Ryzom into a game that makes a profit for a change. So far this means they are working on a lighter client, making the webpage more accesible and getting it advertised. Developmentwise they have temporarily put all work on larger content on hold, as it's nowhere near completion and soaks up much-needed resources, focusing instead on straigthening out glitches, missing core game mechanics and adding more apeal for new players. Thus far we have had a couple of minor patches added that have overall been largely applauded by the playerbase.
Sadly GF choose to no longer extend the contract with Jolt anymore, who had been in charge of both hosting Ryzom and delivering it's ace team of both paid and volunteering CSR, as a bussiness decission to make Ryzom profitable. A new GF CSR team is currently functional.
As with any takeover or change you can expect some people to leave, which was also the case here. However, most of the veterans seem to have decided to stick around, patiently waiting to see how GF will pull it off, hoping they can make their promises true, soon. That being said there seems to be a steady influx of new players; I guess any advertisment beats none at all, even if it's word of a take over.
Also the freqeunt patching is a good thing! GF is making an investment and this game will still be her ein the next couple of years, dont worry!
