I have spent a ton of time to loot a bow in VG and the best i have to show for it is a 31-31 damage bow. But I had a crafter make me one like this http://www.guildcafe.com/zProfile.php?ShowProfileTab=1 (in my image gallery).
My questions is: Do you find its worth the time to camp for drops in VG or just farm money and buy?

Crafted iteams are almost always better, and u will get it as u want. (skillinplant)
But they will be realy expensive.... Bowcraftern need rare materials for the bows
Nice Crafted Items are EXTREAMLY hard to make, and take a HUGE time investment. Looted items can be good, but so far I have yet to see a Looted Item beat a Crafted one.
I would suggest crafting up to LVL 12 yourself. At that point you'll be able to make some REAL nice stuff, and Harvest some really nice Resorces out of the Dugeons as well. At that point, selling Loot, Resources and the things you can make should give you more then enough Coin to have some VERY nice Crafted Gear made for you.
I'll start my own SWG... with Black Jack... and Hookers!!!
In fact, forget the SWG!!!!
Ive been focussing moslty on crafting and Im becoming more and more convinced that the end game uber items in VG will be crafted. Im just starting to get my head around the level of complxity in tailoring. Its quite brilliant and Im looking forward to the more involved recipes that I can see starting to emerge.
I recently got a "Mature Cotton Bale" while harvesting which was listed as a "rare" . I only just last night got a recipe to upgrade coton armour that requires this mature bale and another couple of rare items. So its pretty clear that a crafter upgraded cotton robe or whatever is going to be a pretty expensive item. I guess what isnt clear is whether it will be worth the trouble.

Yes it should be this way, otherwise why bother having crafting in the game if Looted items were better.... All the looted items are for is to get you going in the game, once you hit higher levels you will need to either craft the items yourself or become friends with someone who is good at crafting. SWG used to be this way until NGE came out and they made crafters useless and ruined the economy at the same time.
The best items in the game SHOULD be crafted. Period.
Otherwise there's no point in including tradeskills as part of the game. What amazes me is how few people seem to realize how good crafted weapons really are. I literally had to badger my guild mates to let me make weapons for them.
And anything that eliminates the need/desire/urge to camp.. is a very very very very good thing.
/agreed
Especially since Im only L11 in adventurng and Ive already given up on one quest from waiting for the mob to spawn.... I mean old school camping is fine.... but at level 10 ???

I have about 150 hours played and probably 65% of that is in crafting. Level 30 Armorer. If crafted wasn't going to be better than looted I would have stopped a long time ago. I would also like to note that some items have a very low chance of producing a rare crafted that is far better than standard.
For the time being I have stopped crafting until the complications are fixed. Tier 3 is livable but tier 4 is literally impossible. The extra 500 points isn't enough to cover the additional icon, let alone the HIGH effect complications and additional complications. I had 100% fail rate when getting any progress penalty on level 30 items. It doesn't matter all that much that I progress now as tier 4 and 5 don't have some of the recipes for items that exist in tiers 1-3.

I disagree. It should only be an alternate path, an alternate option. Enforcing crafting isn't a good idea, it is something most peoples will work around, it is still not something an adventurer wants to do. Crafting should never have a best path exclusivity to best items. IMO crafting could be an alternate path, not the only nor the best path.
Someone who invest himself in crafting should be someone that like crafting, not someone looking for the reward in grouping activities. I see no problem with crafting having access to the best, I see problem if crafting become the favored/only path. As after all, the players who want to be good in groups should be required to group, and offered alternative path...not putted on alternate path by force. If someone doesn't want to even read nor learn anything about crafting, that person shouldn't be backward in anyway while grouping. Crafting is something that would developp better if crafters are happy about crafting, and if you have peoples who doesn't want to craft doing it, they won't be happy.

Stop being so narrow sighted. It is an alternative option.
1: An adventurer can either just kill kill kill, and get money or items which he then can sell and buy crafted stuff.
2: An adventurer can pick up gathering skills, and gather items for crafters to use, thus getting crafted items, cheaper or just make money selling the stuff to crafters.
3: An adventurer can have crafting, and craft item for themselves.
Surely Brad McQuaid(Praise), is a hardcore fan of raiding, and im sure the raid bosses will drop some of the best loot, as seen in EQ and WoW.
For my own sake, i havent picked up on crafting yet, and im lvl 14. Have had no problems finding items, or buying them cheaply of the Auction House.

Maybe make crafted stuff almost as good.
Tell me that again when you have been on your 37th raid for the 'uber Palidin sword of pwnage' and there are still 5 other Pallys with more DRPs than you on the raid...you will then be begging for crafted loot
