I thought it was only the vocal minority that participates on the official SWG forums.
Why would SOE put a poll on there if it doesn't reflect what the majority wants?
On the other hand ...it feels like this is a little to late. A poll like this before the CU and NGE would have been great. But SWG is no more... hail NGE.

Sums up my feelings about SWG pretty well

1. Creature balance is a joke. Taking down krayts is a walk in the park. There are absolutly no dangers or risks in hunting. All creatures can be soloed with ease.
2. Profession balance. IMHO balance in a MMO is not needed. Diversety and co.op is.
3. Expertise systems. A really poor substitute for the all skill system and profession mix.
4. Mini games. Yeah i guess...
5. UI improvement, just bring back the old UI. problem solved.
6. PvP content. Hm i think the PvP'ers have got enogh love the past 15 months.
7 PvE content, see nr 1. Again creatures and NPC are a joke.
Here is the fun/sad part. They dont have the resources to do more than one ore two of these things. When the truth is that the entire game still need BETA development resources. Its gone so far that its obvious that the game is broken beyond hope.

I want pre-CU back
Station.com : We got your game
Yeah?, Well i want it back!!!
But they gave us the NGE.
Here is the updated one as of March/2/07

They still do not get the big picture..
They want to build on top of a broken foundation.. ask a contractor... it does not work.
Decay or risk?
Nope...
Diversity and professions back?
Nope...
Complexity and rewards vs risk?
Nope....
Jedi... well with effort again.. or somthing... make it work more then a mere click of Lukes and head and a force pole arm! BAM BING your a Uberleeet Jebi!
Nope...
They need to ask the right questions NOT THE FREAKING OBVIOUS ONES....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes think about it.... Here ya go:
"Do you people like to breathe air? Do you?... Well we will give you air in this next publish!!!"
Asking if the playerbase wants content is a age old question that has yet to change.
What it should say is..."We realize we are bringing things back that we took away by mistake... we are spending all the dev time doing this instead of adding content due to our major lack of insight to what the playerbase wanted the first time around, we are trying to figure out a way to bring back the older version of the game saving us the time to add back things and THEN fixing and adding things that are NEW into the game as content."
"So instead of rehashing things trying to recover... we start where we left off and build on top of what we promised you at one time already".....
Or somthing like that..
Not:
"Hey do you want us to fix things?" ALRIGHT THUMBS UP TO YOU

Winner of the worst MMOS goes to.... the NGE and SWG..!!! http://www.mmorpg.com/showFeature.cfm?loadFeature=1034&bhcp=1
SOE should just roll the damn game back and be done with it. I may like the NGE but I'd rather see a happy playerbase then all of this. I'm shutting my acc down, screw SOE and SWG.
I pop in now and then to these forums in the hopes that maybe just maybe SOE had at least got its act slightly together.
Then I see a poll like this. Did they really need a poll to tell them that players wanted more content? Thats about as no brainer as no brainers gets.
Perhaps they should say " on top of more content what would you like us to focus on, being as we have hiked up your monthly subs"?
LOL its a bad comedy still.

I don't play but the grey bits on that UI sucked.
you know ... even with everything i did find wrong with the game prior to NGE ...
the thing i still would have liked to see more of, and an improvement in ... was PvE ...
i always thought SWG lacked really good combat ... smart mobs ... and interesting dungeons ...
i guess they still havent gotten around to making Pve " star warsy"
I admit it has been a long time but I could have swore before the creature revamp for the combat revamp we never got NPCs were alittle smarter. I know it is not much but I remeber being in groups fighting nightsisters and the night sisters would heal and nail you with force like attacks. I remeber getting killed by swoopers and fails because they love to use there bleed attacks. Then again I played a wookiee and never had armor so I guess things would seem to hurt when they hit me.
I am sure I remeber things differently but I still think the creature nerf even messed up the con system since before they did it if it con'ed red you had no chance(I should say I had no chance). After the creature nerf even my wookiee with basic heals was taking out reds. I can not remeber if I was a MCH/with commando skills or if I had changed to MCH/TKA then.

i see your points ... and yes some of the mob special attacks were unique and nasty ... but when i say i would have liked to see smarter mobs ...i meant a more collective smartness ...
i never had the feeling as if mobs worked together in SWG ... they all seemed to run around in circles of chaos untill you managed to aggro one, and then when you did ,,, their frame of attack was very simplistic .. they came at you untill you were dead or ran far away enough for them to lose interest and return to their spawning points ....
it just didnt have the depth of play imho that say dungeon crawling in everquest 2 had, where your party slowly traveled through a dungeon .... taking out certain foes first ... with your mezzer freezing the ones you wanted to save for last .,. ...
or the mechanics of interdependency among villains and mobs, as say city of villains did, where certain villains only played support to their bosses ...
in SWG one creature or villain didnt seem to compliment the others in his group ... they all seemed like grouped individuals ( if you can understand the point im trying to make) , and used whatever their powerhouse attack was, over and over .. one mob as far as combat mechanics would be indistiguishable from another ..
sure a BOL fought differently than a nightsister .. in that he had only one real attack ... but fighting nightsisters was pretty much the same as fighting correllian guards on the vette ... only difference where the graphics .. the vette troopers had blasters the nightsisters force lightning ....they all had bleed .. and super hard hitting attacks... and feign death or pikata pie ( at least in my day ) seemed the best way to skip to the parts of the dungeon you really cared about.... unless of course you were a PRE CU jedi with stacked attachments and ultimate defenses including saber block and avoid incapp ...
but still ... with dungeons that look all the same ( caves were almost identical and the vette interior was just played out) and mobs that were designed to be defeated all the same way ... spamming your strongest move while using your strongest blaster.. the game combat imho left something to be desired ... i mean ... how many BOL and quenker lairs can you take out? with the same stupid formula ... destroy the mobs around the perimeter .. then destroy the cheesy little lump of stone which supposedly was their lair ...
there was also a SEVERE lack of unique bosses in SWG .. the few that were around ( like the acklay, or gorax) were always camped,
Do you prefer PvP or PvE?

~20% for PvP
They then followed up with a poll asking what they needed to do to get more people to PvP. The last years worth of development was focused on PvP and it didn't do what SOE thought it would (attract more people to the game).
At this point they have given up on growing the game, so they are much more likely to use the current poll as a guideline for future development. I'm betting they will begin listening to the playerbase much more than in the plast because they are now soley looking to retain the current players. There will be no new attempts at adding big things that are meant to attract people who don't currently play the game. The failure of the 'complete' box to bring in new players is the reason for this. The folks at SOE actually thought the talent system and focusing on PvP was going to bring in a bunch of new players and a decent sized chunk of former players.

You're remembering correctly. I remember when they jazzed up the NPC's. I had a habit of hunting night-sisters with my combat droid to get crystals for my jedi buddies. I was a Master Doc/TKM. One day, suddenly, night sister's started zapping me with force lightning. There attacks became smarter and more powerful. It became more of a challenge and I loved it.
When the NGE came in, I just held down the left mouse button, pointed my cursor over a nightsister, and they began dropping dead in droves. Once in a while I had to hit the right mouse button after loading up a special, but man the combat became dull and was over way too fast. And my bloody combat droid now got in the way of my line of sight constantly, and wouldn't keep attacking....aaaarg! I had to keep giving the combat command, in modal chat no less Turned out I didn't need the bloody droid anyways, but using it (and needing it) was part of the fun before.
If they want PVE content to be interesting, they're going to have to do something about the lame NPC's everywhere. Hopefully the content also won't be more of the same old "find the way point and gun down 30 NPC's standing in a field doing nothing".
Arc
we had contet it call pre-cu
u nooblets so funny if u wnat npc quest tehn go play d&d
swg b bout owning noobz lol
swg b shut down by may i no that now unless pre-cu come back
I'm also not sure what "creature balance" means exactly. If it means that NPC's would be more challenging again, that some would require team interaction, then I'd be voting for that.
Without clarity on this though, I'd probably be inclined to vote PVE content, hoping for additional content and making the existing content more challenging/fun to play. Another factor related to my leaving SWG (there were many) was that I had done all the interesting content over and over again. Without the 32 professions to experiment with, the game became extremely repetative. With all of the character customization options previously available, the game stayed fresher, more interesting for me. I did try respecing but lost a bunch of levels when I did this (and yes I respeced from one combat profession to another). The respec feature was horribly bugged in a game-breaking way when it was first introduced, and respec issues continued to plague the game even after the initial bug was addressed. So many things introduced with the NGE worked together to remove fun, challenge, diversity, community and basic functionality that it continues to amaze me. It was a real recipe for disaster. This may be easier to see in hindsight, but it's true nonetheless I think.
