Hey everybody out there. I am thinking about quiting wow and buy EQ2 instead since I just dont think wow is funny anymore.
But my question is:"What do you do in Everquest when you are the highest level?" Do you just raid 10-25 man like you do in wow, or does EQ 2 not even have any instances?
Thanks in advanced

Think of EQ2 as WoW with better graphics, depth and content.
If you liked the way WoW played but want crafting that matters, a more complex combat system, housing, better guild features, more deversity in class and race, and world PvP that is usefull (loot and xp off of players) then I think you'll like EQ2.
There is instancing and raids. And more things to collect then you could shake a stick at.
The only place I think that WoW has EQ2 beat is that you can get to 60 without ever having a group regardless of wich class you play, and it's easy to do. The same may be true of EQ2, but I think it's MUCH easier in WoW.
Grouping in EQ2 is more fun and rewarding then WoW and doesn't seem to have such strict requirements as far as make up because of all the class options. Diffent tank classes, dps, healing, buffers means more deversity in groups.
Just made things a little easier here and there, its still basically the same game.
It more or less plays like WoW since WoW copied EQ1, but its got more classes and races, better craftiing, and better population.
I got so tired of all the retards playing on WoW but there's not too many in EQ2.
If you ask for help, people are willing to help you. They don't just spam "look on thottbot, you newb"
Definately I would reccomend giving it a go, I made the change and am glad I did.
Hiya:)
To answer your question there are raids in EQ2, but you can raid even at lower levels all the way up until you hit 70. There are raids for each level tier. The raids range anywhere from 12-24 people depending on the mob. The biggest difference I see between EQ2 and WoW would be the community. The EQ2 community is usually very helpful. Of course just like in any game you may find a few meanies.
EQ2 does have solo content but you will need a group for a lot of the game play. It is also a bit harder during fights. You have to use more thinking on which order to use your spells and such, or if in a party who should and shouldn't be casting what... of course you have to do that some in WoW too, but having played both it seems like you are more likely to die in EQ2 if you mess up (at least on the more difficult encounters).
The crafting is also more skilled based. It plays very similar to the combat. You have to use different buffs (spells) to counteract things that are happening while you are crafting to get the best quality item. The item could come out different depending on how well you counter the problems that occur.
EQ2 is also very rich in lore and storyline and they really bring this into their quests. You will often see the same quest giver multiple times throughout a storyline as you progress.
As for zones when you are capped out at 70, yes there are zones that are not raid zones that you can find a group and go into. They are usually set up wtih some type of story behind them as well and drop some nice loot.
EQ2 is definitely worth giving a try:) It is a total different atmosphere from WoW. Hopefully one that you will enjoy:)
Good luck in finding a new game!

I love WoW, and in my opinion, EQ2 is NOT like WoW. Sure, there are a lots of similar stuff, and you do wonder a lot of times if WoW just stole what they wanted from EQ.
I ditched EQ2 before the 30 day trial was over, at lvl 28. The reason was that it's just too boring... It's soo repetitive that it spoiled the fun for me, at least.
Example: if you collect quests before doing anything else, you can complete 3-4 quests by killing the same mobs. If not, you will be running back and forth doing the same mobs over and over again. That's just one example..
The community is the best thing about EQ2. Very mature and very helpful, indeed.
But, what I really hated with EQ2, was that "regular" mobs, those you can solo and might want to kill for quests, often was surrounded by Heroics, which you can't kill when they're close to your lvl. If you bring someone to help you, the Heroics can be a normal challenge, but the "regular" ones falls like flies.
If you like doing solo stuff (I like to vary between solo and groups):
So far, this game is the only one I've ever seen advertising for solo stuff on their website, and IMHO, that's bullshit. Except from a few dungeons, which usually requires that you have the appropriate expansions. Sure, i know that MMO means playing with others, but the possibility to do both solo and grouping, was the main reason i tried this game.
I'm like a vampire, I'm up at nights, and I like to play very late, after midnight CET. If you do too, avoid Splitpaw server (i think that was the name) - not much activity when it's 3 AM or later here. Good amount of players at other hours, though.
Thanks for some great answers guys. I have made up my mind now. I will buy Everquest2 to day, but is it possible just to buy EQ 2 and wait with buying the expasions tilll you are high level? Or do you ruin some of your gameplay without them?
Thanks in advance
Of course you will miss out a lot of features, new zones, classes, etc without the expansions. You should check station.sony.com for further details.
But why don't you buy the All-in-one pack? All of the 3 expansions are included. I paid $40 for it.
EDIT: there are 3 adventure packs for this game too, but as far as i know, you have to buy them on digital download from sony.
One good thing about EQ2 is that you can purchase the original game with the expansions included for pretty low cost. If you aren't sure though maybe you would want to try the 7 day free trial:) This way you can at least try it out. If you like it just put in your keycode and you are set to go:) Here is a link to the trial page:)

Have fun!

Because there is boxed version of EoF, I have to recommend it. Its best way to start EQ2. There are many features u can use as a low level and you will be looking for them without EoF. Also price is very frindly.

As for the top level, well, I've been playing almost since the day it opened and haven't made it to the top level.
