Looking for Adventure style RPG

hi, i am looking for an adventure game style MMORPG. We like the Ulitma type games (like ultima 8, etc) or Pirates of the Caribbean where you talk to NPC's and ask questions and need to find artifacts and make magical objects. We tried Guild Wars Online and basically it is just like all the other games i can tell (ie. Dungeon Seige, etc). I am getting tired of just running around killing creatures all the time. I would like some adventure...

so... who can help me? Is Ultima Online what i am looking for?

EverQuest quests can be pretty cryptic.  Instead of having a dialogue box, you actually have a conversation with the NPCs.  When a word shows up in brackets, you must ask a [question] about that word.

    IE, "What sort of question?"

This will progress the dialogue, and eventually you may hear rumors of a great beast or be asked to perform a task.

my link deleted, why? I was being serious, it is an adventure style rpg. And thought someone might find it fun to play. It wasn't poking fun.

"Basically this is a "choose your own adventure" style game that will have a different outcome depending on your choices along the way."

but in EQ (or EQII) do you still have to go around fighting like in Guild Wars or Dungeon Seige? I like that aspect a little bit, but would rather like going to places and talking to people a lot. i did like that aspexct of Might and Magic series as well.

An adventure led mmo? im not sure they exist.  I wish they did. The size of these MMO s seems to complicate the idea of a story or adventuring (exploring).  To get to level 60 of a game you have to do a lot of pointless things (kill X of X) .

This is a US website? so i dont know if you have a huge experience of text based adventures (as i am English) but if i can finda game that can gave me a feeling that i had playing games wihtout ANY graphics whatsoevever then you have me for life.

I understand absolutely your question as is it is something i am looking for also, i wish you luck. We know that if we found a ADVENTURING game we could play for a very long time. Whether anyone wishes to make such a game is however another question.

It sounds like a text based game would be good for you they are not known for there graphics but if yuo find the right one the story and quests can be very immersive.......or so im told

I doubt any MMO is going to fit your taste.

You should try out ULTIMA ONLINE's free trial  or download the client and join a free server to try it out.

If you want an MMO where questing plays a big role maybe check out EQ2.  It probabaly has the best content but I’m not sure if you are really looking for an MMO at all. Every MMO to date has involved a lot of running around killing stuff, though I get the sense Biowear is going to try and change that with their upcoming MMO.

If I were you I’d look at some of the classic single player RPG’s.  Some that you may want to look at are: Fallout, Fallout II, Baldur’s gate, Baldur’s Gate II and it’s expansion, Planescape: Torment, Knights of the Old Republic, NeverWinter Nights 1&2, Morrowind, Oblivion, etc.   (NWN has multiplayer support if that's an issue.)
