Getting my money back

dexta666dexta666 Member Posts: 5

hi, how do i get my money back?

we bought Guild Wars and it really isn;t the kind of game we were looking to play. because there was no demo and no way of knowing what the game was like i feel like i have paid money for a game i don;t want? how do i get my money back. there must be some kind of return system in place?

please help

ps. i liked the beginning where we would walk around doing quests for people, but then the whole world changed and we are now in this burnt out city Ascalon. i don;t really like it. going around killing beasts and stuff. i am kind of sick of playing games like this and dungeon seige. sorry to bug out on the game, but i thought it would be less kill kill kill and more adventurous

I would say no, once you take the Key (or even open the box) you cannot return it. It would be the same way for every other game out there. If you were to buy say, Half-Life 2 at the store. You open it, install, and all that, then you say "Man I don't like this game." You cannot return it, only thing you can do is get a new copy, if it was damaged or wont install.

You can't get your money back, you already used the keycode.

ummm... nah. i think you are wrong. here in australia, you ask the store person first. can i exchange this if i don;t like it. most of the time the answer is yes. we used to have a really good store that we were able to play the game first and then pay for it if we like it. but that was in my old town where i used to live.

so i don;t see why i can;t just get either a refund or be able to exchange for a different game?

Once you use the key it is bound to that account, no one else in the world can use that same key. I don't know about the rules in Aus about returns but I would assume it would be the same. On another note, about the store if you don't like it you can get something different, that would be a massive loss in profit. You could buy a game, burn or mount it, and then get a new one.

ultimately the game (as far as arenanet is concerned) is about getting a large group of people together, for sake of discussion we'll call them a guild, anyway getting them together to face other guilds to do combat with each other.  for sake of discussion we'll call battle against two groups as war.

in all seriousness, pre searing is the area you were talking about.  post searing is the part aparently you dont like.

ill be honest with you, im not a huge fan of prophecies either.  the game gets VERY deep if you have all the expansions, especially when you have the ability to get heroes.

heroes are henchmen with better ai, that you can not only equip what gear you want on them, but what skill loadouts they have.  you get to level them up, and do wtih them, what you get to do to your main.

also dont forget that this game is about skill builds and loadouts that you can change at will.  do a search for "guild wiki" on google.  there you can see not only every skill you can get for your primary or secondary professions (remember you can change your secondary profession, thats the best part, you arent locked in there, bring what works best for what you are trying to do today), but what gear and armor you might want to get for them.

this game is almost constant raid content for a good guild.  i run with my guild, which we have 4 guilds probably about 200 members all geared well and theres still tons of challenges for us.  getting master completions on some of those missions are hella fun and super hard.

short answer, no, they arent going to give you a refund, but it sounds to me like you dont really see how deep this game can be.  thats mostly due to the fact that you bought prophecies though.  factions and nightfall it gets much much better. but theres still some great end game content in phophecies.

    Games i'm playing right now...

Sadly, they can't return your money. But I implore you to play further, and start progressing in the story line, at least past the Ascalon area. The original storyline becomes more fun as you get deeper into the game.

If you were to return it, you could still play your account, and you'd basically be scamming ArenaNet.  Even if you don't play your account you're still cheating them out of their money.

Next time you buy a game, look through the trials first.  Guild Wars has a 14 day 10 hour trial in it, you could have tried that, and then returned the game with the authentication key still untouched.

have you played the game?  are you serious that you think this game is all about killin?  there is a story behind it.  do the story missions.  it is awesome.  you have to play it longer to understand it.  you will like it if you just play it longer i guarantee it.

Yes the actual game client is free to download its the keycode that creates your account which is what you paid for as well as the hardback manual. So in theory the only thing left to do is sell the account on an auction site or maybe to a friend?

However, you know i was stuck in Ascalon for a while and didnt like it i thought that this was the whole game - boy was i wrong, why dont you stick with it? the next area is the shiverpeak mountains, and then North Kryta, followed by a jungle area and then a desert area and then more shiverpeak mountains and then finally the island chain. After which there are the elite missions to do. So the game is actually about adventure, in each of these areas there are missions from cities and towns as well as quests people give you. Just get out of the Ascalon Area by completing the city missions and you will find yourself out of there soon enough and on to new things.

You dont like the game because you go around killing stuff? I'm pretty sure you do that in every online rpg.

Actually, it is. Well, in the end it comes down to that.

Eh, if you did a tad more searching you would have found out that there are free trials available and you can download the software from the Guild Wars website...

its illegal to sell your account.

also it is more than just killin stuff.  its about gettin your guild up to the top.  gettin the favor by fightin in the hall of heroes.  doin missions and bonus objectives.  goin to fissure and underworld and the other place to get cool items and stuff.  pvpin your heart out.  and if you get factions you can get faction points.  doin alliance battles.  gettin enough faction to gain control of a city.  and do more missions for a new story.  nightfall is the same thing.  more missions for a new story.  get heroes which you can equip and give skills to.  do hero battles with other players.  and you dont even have to get the expansions so you pay for what you want.  think about it. give this game another chance.  if you still dont like it get age of conan when it comes out.
