TaeraTaera Community ManagerMember CommonPosts: 1,078

Today marks the one month anniversery of Vanguard: Saga of Heroes! In celebration, Sigil has two gifts for Telon's residents; read on!

As a Celebration of Vanguard's Launch and look to the future with the first Game Update we're giving the founders of Telon two gifts as we continue our adventures into Vanguard!

Double Adventuring Kill Experience will be awarded to players from
Saturday, March 3rd, 5:00am PST (Saturday, March 3rd, 4:00am GMT for
European Servers) until Monday, March 5th, 5:00am PST (Monday, March 5th,
4:00am GMT for European Servers)

A Founder's reward, in the form of an in-game title, will be granted to
players who have purchased a copy of Vanguard: Saga of Heroes between
launch (January 30th) and March 31st. This title can be applied to each
character created on an account now, or in the future. In order to
qualify a player will need to have consumed the account key that comes
in the box (if purchased at retail), from a Web site (if purchased
digitally) or successfully completed a purchase on the Station Store by
the March 31st cut off date (11:59pm PST). The title will be awarded in
early April. More details regarding a full Veteran Rewards program will
be announced in the coming months.

See you in Telon,

- The Vanguard Team

Just me or does this scream "Buy the game now before its to late!".

Never tried vanguard and not bashing the game whatsoever, just never seen a game release veteran rewards so early.

Celebrating "1 month" anniversary?  Sounds a bit desperate to me.  I mean, don't you celebrate such things after a year or more?

How about celebrating by fixing the issues that are causing players to cancel subscriptions or not purchase all together?

Shows how little u know about MMO's.

VG got released to early they prob added what they wanted to get in befor it went to release but since VG got pushed to be in the stores they adding it now hence the patch so early.

About the veteran awards u get that in in alot of games around 1 month 3 months 6 months and so on.

In my eye's vanguard is getting better and better people that complain they cant run the game properly 2bad for u time to upgrade from a P3 to something better. If friends of mine can play it with a P4 and 1 gig ram so can u just dont put it all on extreme high. Hopefully VG will leave all the crying kids in wow and will the more mature people join VG.

VG keep it going SOE stay on the background please and put the station pass price back to 24,99 if not 21,99

I keep hearing people saying 'Just wait this game is going to get better.  It's going to be great once they fix everything.'

I don't buy a car with promises that they'll fix the steering or brakes.   It's appalling that there are people saying players should try this game when it's clearly still in beta.    If Sigil needs to pull these kind of XP stunts to try to keep people leaving because of the bugs, then maybe they shouldn't have released the game with the bugs in the first place.

I would buy the game and try it but with SOE raising the monthly fees. I just said to myself. "Keep playing Wow until WAR comes out."

All software developers release thier stuff full of buggs look at Microsoft alone if it cost several million dollars to make a game and cost r getting to much u release it so u get some steady income back. The XP stunt is to make up for the vaulty quests that didnt give the amount of xp they should have done and same for the tombstone not giving back all the xp u lost.

Again get over yourselves how can u compare a car with software at all.

Ok lets compare it with a value meal at your local fast food resturant. They serve it to you with half a bun, the tomato is green and the meat is half cooked and the chhese has mold on it. Only half the fries are there and the cup of soda  has a hole in the bottom so the soda leaks all over your pants. Then they announce a price raise in order to keep serving you that great food that you love so much.

As long as foolish gamers keep making excuses for developers who release incomplete products and charge for them, developers will continue to do so. There is no excuse for releasing a product before it's ready and charging for it. Vanguard is a failure and these gimmicks of double experience and special titles to be given away to those who continue to subscribe are signs of desperation.

Couldn't have said it any better.

As long as people blindly support this type of crap you can bet Sony will continue to push it on them.

I have to agree that this is WAY too early to even talk about something like veteran rewards! I mean, being in the game for a week is enough (remember you only have to get it until 31st of march, so in theory you could be one day old in-game :P).

They do sound desperate, trying to get people to buy now with the "veteran-bait". I mean, we all know they released early in order to get money, and now this?

Two wrongs don't make one right. Just because there are companies releasing half-assed mmo's it doesn't make it right to get going at it. Heck, there are mmos out there with good launches. Want an example? A tale in the desert. It is an indie's mmo, and yet it is quite polished.

Enduring bugs is one thing, enduring bugs and ignoring them as an issue is another entirely.

Again, the "gotta upgrade your computer" argument is invalid. There is people with troubles while using high-end computers.

Anyway the game isn't for everyone, those with med-range system "might" not enjoy it (some will it all depence how much love you have for MMORPG, if you just like games then maybe V;SoH isn't for you, the game is very system demanding, but for those that have the system those minor bugs wouldn't hinder us, its probably the more mature crowed that has been playing MMORPG for along time now so we understand what it takes to bring a game this large to the public. if people fail to see the depth of Vanguard al I can say maybe its time for them to move to a different genre of games and leave MMORPG's to those that really enjoy them, most of you want single player game experience in a MMORPG. I don't like bugs nor do I like games that have them, but I’m not a level grinder so the amount of bugs I hear people scream about I hardly notice and probably when I hit their level they might already be fixed. Besides I can only compare WOW to fast food  (but that’s just a personal opinion), in the last 3 years of MMORPG's Vanguard comes the closest of what I really want out of a MMORPG. So far Sigil is holding up on their promises and its getting better and better. Get over it if you can not run the game properly, else if you can try the MMORPG approach instead of the FPS type game play, you might amaze yourself

PRice of Station Pass increase might lead to all their single sub rate increase in the future. Best to keep finger cross on that.

All canceled. Waiting on Warhammer Online : Age of Reckoning.

From a game development stand point, Vanguard has very few if any show stoppers at all.

I really can't see why they can't celebrate 1 month in by releasing a ton of new content.

Making up stuff like "Sounds a bit desperate" just reconfirms you don't like the game rather than you actually have any point.

Now playing: VG (after a long break from MMORPGS)
Played for more than a month: Darkfall online, Vanguard SOH, Everquest, Horizons, WoW, SWG, Everquest II, Eve

I think its just good PR and its a good thing for the VG community and those who love this game.  I think this will be a stable game in a year for us elitist. I seriously love the world design. Even Eve-Online  started off shakey as far as bugs go. We should give Sigil credit here that they are reaching out to their subscribers like this. I am just rooting for this game from the sidelines because its a little tough to run a busines when you leave micro suck investment and run out of money.

    Big group hug!

    1.  It is desperate.  When's the last time you've heard of an even moderately successful game resorting to "rewards" for staying for more than 1 month (rofl it's really funny if you think about it).

    2.  My point is I'm going to "dis" the game every chance I can get.  They ripped every customer off when they released this pos in the condition it is.  And since I can't get my 50 bucks back I figure I have at least a few months of enjoyment they owe me.  Might as well get it some way!

    Also, @Misq2k

Please, leart how to write. English is not my native language and I get very annoyed by posts like yours.

Also, please, learn to use some decent arguments.

I won't get Vanguard because it is half-finished. Everyone knows that, stop being such a fanboi and aknowledge that it is not perfect. I'm not saying it is a bad game, just that it is unfinished.

Usually I wouldn't have replied to Misq2k, but I was annoyed by his posts.

It seems u can understand my english with no probs or u wouldnt be able to comment on em at all would you ??

Also i been playing mmo's prob longer then most of you have been out of trainer nappy's sofar i have done it all so dont tell me to or not to be a fanboy cause i putting some people in the right place.

This game is really nice and i will keep saying it if u like it or not doesnt concern me atall.

Have fun and enjoy the games u playing if not time to pissoff and find a other game simple as that aint it ??

Mistq2k, I can respect your loyalty (can't understand it but I can respect it) but really, you're not a great representative of the Sigil fan base.

And what you don't realize is there are people here who were suckered into paying for this pos game based on pie in the sky marketing and promises.

SOooooo it's payback time.  That is unless Sigil want's to announce a game buyback program for all of those who didn't realize they were lied into buying a beta game as release.
  • BuzWeaverBuzWeaver Member UncommonPosts: 978

I’m glad I had the opportunity to participate in the beta this way I had a glimpse of what the ‘vision’ was going to be. I kept a cautious optimism, however I feel Brad and his team grossly misrepresented the game. I wasn’t expecting another Everquest, yet at the same time I did have a little higher expectation from a guy that made what I felt was one of the best MMO’s to date.

As far as the car and happy meal analogy, neither of these are as complex as hundreds upon thousands, lines of code, not to mention configuring hardware to software and appealing to all the different game systems consumers have. Besides, how many MMO’s  have had a true polished and clean launch?

If 50$ is such a great loss dont play mmo's i mean ive tryed atleast 15-20 diffrent games out there some good some crap. and i never once cryed about buying a game over hype . most new games are all about hype  all of them have some kind of bugs or lag  come on get real  this isnt going to be the greatest game ever for some players and for others it will be.  for me its a lay over till the next game that comes out that mite be that one  that is the greatest game ever for me ( Potbs) but till then I play Vsoh cause its fun not because I think its better then some other game and I need to tell every one how great my game is and yours sucks  no just because it looked fun and I like sandboxs game  and I feel it was and still is worth 50$

Founder is an initial member.  As in "early adopter.

    Veteran means long time member...

If Sigil is giving out "Veteran" rewards after one month, and veteran means long term, I guess that speaks volumes about the games longevity.

How about let's not compare a multi-million dollar pc game with a  burger from a restaurant? What, can you eat Vanguard?
