Hmmm so let me see if I am getting this correctly... you are not having fun as a miner ? in the game, trying to get enough isk to buy skillbooks and such being a miner.

Well I where a miner in the game and yeah being a miner CAN be boring as hell, to be honest I never suggested that aproach to any of my new members (where CEO in a corp there) instead we had made a list of skills new players should work to and how to train them for example alot of people say train the trainingskills up to lvl 4 or 5 ... we used to say train them to lvl 2 maybe if you got time to lvl 3... then work on your fightingskills... because to be honest it was ALOT more fun flying around Rathunting, pvp or missionrunning than being a miner especially if you don't have any large miningbarge to play with.

Was I very far from the truth here btw ??? hmm not really sure.

try looking for a industrial corp and join on mining ops, a bit more fun than mining alone and a quick way to make buddies, isk, etc...

CCP mafia.. hehe i like that, they ar with all the recent dev allegations, brushing the shit under the carpets, i just want to know how many corpse's they have in the closet

    Bad english indeed.

But anyways being a miner right off the bat will just push you out of eve,and in my opinion minng is only like 10% of Eve(Whereas PvP/E is like 80% of it)

Mining is a great sourse of income, if you have skills, time and mind for it.

However it is not something I would suggest to new players. In the beginning it is preferable to try out more or less everything, if you dont really find something to be your call. Why? Because you dont have the isk nor skills to actually be very good at alot in the beginning. And frankly, the meagre income of the ores you find in the beginning is not that much of a morale-boost.

Rather you should either get into a corp - mining in a group is much more fun than mining alone - or try out the other aspects of the game. I for one did not try mining until I had played EVE for about 2 months(and then I mined the greater ores that gave much more isk/unit). Was not as fun as PVP or so but it was a great source of isk for me as I was relatively new and it was fun when you had others to speak to over the different chat channels and TeamSpeak.

All of that is true, and I'd like to add some hints for a new player:

-At the very start, do a few courier missions (for NPC agents) in high security. Those will be somewhat boring too, but a safe and easy way to get some ISK. Spend that on skillbooks, equipment and a better ship, getting out of the rookie ship will make the game more fun.

-If you still want to be a miner, a good next step would be to learn flying an Industrial (small freighter). With that you should be welcome in most mining corps, as you can help with transporting ore from the asteroid belts to the base where it is refined.

-For being really efficient at mining itself, you will need a larger ship that is geared towards mining. Options are the mining barges (of course) or cruisers with a mining skillbonus. Offhand, the Caldari Osprey or the Gallente Vexor come to mind. Cruiser is skilled faster, but mining barge is more efficient in the long run.
