Didn't feel like 2x exp, plus a few questions

We just had double experience weekend according to the game.  But did it feel like you got double exp?  Personally, I didn't feel like it.

Now, I'm not saying the game didn't give it out, just that to me it didn't feel like it was happening.  I know the higher you go the more exp you need to complete levels.  But after the weekend and all I did I thought I'd be a bit more ahead then I currently am at 15.

Question:  How do you see who is in the area in case you want to see who is around for a team invite?  How do you set up "LFG" looking for group so others can see it?

Question:  When you put saddlebags on your mount, can you see them on the horse?  Or they only give you more inventory space withouit being seen?

Question:  What are the 10 and up areas in Kojani zones?  I began in the village of Dallerjab by Tanvu. (I know I spelled the village wrong).

I seen the saddlebags being sold at Thestra's starting zone for a few pcs of copper. But in Tanvu or the place you get the mounts in Tawar, the vendor doesn't sell them.  Any place near these zones that sell saddlebags?  The broker has them for 4 silver but compare to a few pcs of copper (5 I believe) it's best getting them at the vendor.

Thanks for any responses

I can't answer all your questions but from what I have heard is that once you get to level 10 on kojani it is best to move to one of the other continents. Personally I suggest you go to khal and the to the beacon.

    Heh, lots of questions there...

    1.  Yes, it was double XP, and I moved from 17-21 with regular play.  If you are not running in groups taking on 3-4+ dot mobs then you are not getting as good XP as you could.  Don't know much about the world... the dwarf start area is packed full of places to hunt so no need to explore yet.

    2.  For the rest of your questions it just seems a little obvious that you have not played MMOs much.  Try some "/" commands like:

/lfg - turns on your looking for group tag

/who "name" - gives you the people with that name in your area.  Try class, level etc.  So, /who cleric 14 20 would, you know, give me a list of clerics level 14-20.  The area seems limited, so you might not see many people in some lists.

Dunno about saddly bags, I see them on some horses, not on others... but they do in fact hold stuff even when you are not mounted.

I don't know if it was a true double xp or not but i've heard some gaining 4 to 8 lvls in the 20's over the weekend and some that only gain a lvl or 2.  probably depends on how much you played and what you killed as i believe different mobs of the same lvl will give out different xp but not sure on that.

    don't know about this sorry.

I don't think they show on your horse like bardings do, atleast it doesn't show on mine.

In kojan the quests and place to gain xp thins out after about lvl 10 with pretty much needing to leave the continent at 15 or so.  Later in lvls theres a few spots for the mid 20's i believe.  But most tend to leave for either thestra or qalia around 12 to 15

The XP over the weekend was great. Of course there were alot of people in the wrong places, not in groups and not spending their times wisely. i went from lvl 22 to 27 with a moderate amount of play time. Grouping at the right places was key.

This weekend was the first time I really went out to try to get experience.  So far, I've  just been questing, exploring etc.  However, I was grouped with some other folks that were amazed with how fast experience was moving. I went from lvl 15 to 19.  So I'd say it was probably double XP.

Do a /who and you'll see everyone close by and if there LFG flag is on.  But /who caps at 40 people and you'll almost always get the message that you've hit the maximum listing of 40 people.  I haven't tried it, put I would assume /who lfg would work.  Also, the LFG tab is another option, althought I've heard some say it's buggy.

I don't think that graphic shows, although I'm not positive.  I'll look next time I get on my pony.

A previous poster said that traveling to Thestra would offer a lot more content.  This is true, I've only been on Thestra and it's massive, many cities, villages and more dungeons that you can shake a stick at.  That said, I would think Kojan would offer much conent too.... I have guidies at lvl 19-20 that haven't left Kojan yet and are doing fine.

I quested for mine, so I've never looked for them at a merchant.  However, the broker should have some reasonably priced offerings made my tailors.  Dusty saddlebags are going very cheap in Thestra.  Remember, the brokers are continent specific, so if you are on Kojan, you want see what Thestra sellers have to offer.  This is how trade merchants make money on the exchange.

I couldnt find a group all weekend on Hilsbury. So this dbl experience meant nothing for my 13 cleric and 17 warrior. and yes I had  /lfg on the whole time and was advert'ing in /shout and  /areasay. It seems noone on my server bothers to group below the mid 20's and I appear to have missed the initial surge of players.

hopefuly more players will be along soon.

20 to 24 here.  I grouped in the Tomb of Lord Tsang, and it may just be that the group was too high for that place, but I got more XP out of grinding solo.  I don't recommend it as it is excruciatingly boring, but I just wanted to keep up/catch up to the guild mates so that I can join in on the fun stuff after the weekend.

As a blood mage it took about 2h of grinding for each level.  I have grinded before and it was slower than that, so yes, it felt like double xp.

I'm a dark elf and I've had to build faction to actually get some quests to do, it appears that no matter what character you pick, you'll have to visit another race's teen quest hubs in your teens as you'll run out of them.  Kojan is the smaller of the three continents, so you will have to take the boat to Qalia or Thestra.  Qalia's advantage is that the level-appropriate zones for teens is much closer to the boat than Thestra where you'll walk a LOT from the boat to some place fun for teens.

As to your first question, I can't confirm "double" XP (I do not track XP that closely) but I can tell you this... I had an 11th paladin before the weekend. Over the weekend I got a monk to 10th. One very noticeable difference: the Paladin by 10 had all his important skills maxed before dinging 10. The Monk was not even close. Reason? More XP per kill = less kills per level, and that means less skill point increases per level.

In fact when I realized this was happening I quit doing lowbies and went back to my main (the Paladin). I figured he could afford less kills per level at 11, 12, etc, because his relevant skills were already capped. I also got him from 11-13 in about the speed as 9-11... which certainly means the XP was coming faster for him too.

Horses -- you can do the diplomacy quests if you like diplomacy and get a free mount if you want. It's a tad slower than a purchased one but it's free, and perfectly serviceable for a while (the low teens at least). And since it costs you nothing, the only reason not to do it would be if you don't like diplomacy.

Heh, I got my horse through the diplomacy quest line.  He's pretty slow, but I've become attached to him.  I feel like I saved him from the glue factory.  With new shoes and tacks, I've increased his speed and stability significantly.... but a bard with the right song will pass me like I'm standing still.

In all MMOs I am a miser. I am not easily parted from my money (or in COH, influence). If I can get a thing for doing a quest without spending money, I will. So, I love the horse. With tack and bridle and stuff he's fast enough. And that left me money to buy a new Great Maul, etc.

Personally, I would have preferred a Double DPS weekend instead.     As it is, I dropped my Vanguard subscription and started playing EQ2 instead.  I'm not sure I find the latter's setting to be as interesting overall...but with no lag or lockups to worry about, the frustration factor is a heck of a lot lower.
