WHAT KNID OF MMO WOULD U MAKE IF U HAD THE CHANCE

Start with the core of what the players wants:

    - Medieval-fantasy

    - Group focused

    - Solo friendly

Then, if I can remain loyal to these 3 main points, I would expand in as many directions as possible, yet always remaining true to these 3 goals.  There would be a "solo endgame" that would be totally distinct from the "grouping endgame", if someone would want to be good at soloing, they would need to solo...if they want to be good at grouping, they would need to group.  That would be a driving goal, from the start.  If we add crafting or raiding or PvP-stuff, they wouldn't be enforced on players who merely want to be good at solo/grouping.

The game world would be builts around the players, rather than trying to glue players on it.

Additionnally, if I could...no server would never get updated with any expansion, expansions would be on new severs.  Character transfer would have to be regulated in a way to allow a player to keep his toon and access SOME new servers, old servers would merge a lot; then if we see that an expansion wasn't popular, the next expansion would have to be built in a way that the next new servers would avoid that latest addition that isn't popular with the players.  Players would move from server to server if they follow the expansions, which will allow for communities to evolve in a more dynamic way.  It is unclear if we would charge for character transfer OR for the expansion, but we wouldn't charge for both.  Some server would of course be un-accessible to character transfer, but the blunt would.

ok it might just be me...........but i really want to see a MMO western

their would be three factions   Good Guys, Bad Guys, and Indians

Indans would be a more peaceful faction not really fighting but you could use all sorts of skills to hunt and fight (if needed)

Bad Guys would be the robbers, the blackmailers, the roughhouser, the ganglords and just plain old bad people

Good Guys would be the heros and the cowboys

Good Guys would be hunting bad guys and helping out townsfolk or perhaos taking a load of in the tavern

Bad Guys would try and rule the towns out from the underground and blackmail all the rich townfolk and of course shooting the bad guys

Indians would be hunters and would work for both of the others  and sure they could pick up a bow while on the hunt and then sling over their backs .. a rifle just incase any "white men" try and bother them

of course its just an idea..but i think if it were done right  it might make and great game ..

Kinda working on this as a MUD, but.....

Post Rapture modern setting. Based on the Christian mythology of the rapture, players would take on the role of either "The Fallen" or "The Lost." Faction PvP with quests that posed real moral dilemmas to the players. How you handle those moral quandaries would determine what side you would officially be on. There would also be (insanely difficult) high level quests to become "tainted" or "blessed" making your character damn near immortal to anyone that wasn't in the inverse state (tainted would be vulnerable to the blessed and vice versa).

Other than that, I would also like to see a stone age MMO that's based on survival against environmental conditions. Players would have to work together or die. Yes, this would require permadeath. I'm also thinking that this would definitely be an FFA PvP game where you could not only loot the person you killed, but cook and eat their body as well. This wouldn't be a very good long term strategy however, since the exposure, lack of water, or natural predators would quickly kill you without the support of others.

I give ya points Scythe; while the Rapture one would probably be controversial (for one thing, it uses a Christian theme as a background; on another, it doesn't necessarily show that theme in a happy fluff-bunny way like Left Behind would), I think that's a very unique idea for any kind of a game. Good idea and I hope you do something with that some day in some form or another.

The next idea for the survivalist pre-historic would be cool. I bought Monster Hunter for the PSP to play with some friends because they said it was kinda like PSO, in cave man days. I was dissapointed to see all the dragons (wyverns whatever) flying around and the bows being gigantic anime-esque over the top cannon looking devices. Still a fun game, but man, I'd love to see something a bit more primitive. Instead of Guilds maybe tribes of players forming small communities and competing for resources, food, shelter etc......

    I would make three MMOs.

One would be based on Bully, by Rockstar. Everyone would be kids and there would be no killing, only fighting, bullying and knocking someone out, so it would be FFA (praise Jesus)  There would be prederment cliques that would serve as classes, nerds, jocks, preppys..., each with their own special skills. it would all be about controlling areas and few quests on a side, but customisation would be just insane and there would be no lvls only skills...

One would be based on the movie Apocalypto. This one would also be FFA but with permadeath, no lvl's, no classes. Everyone starts the same, as Joe Average. There would be no epix loot or anything, but it would be quest based and also sandbox at the same time. Armor would have a cool feature, you could always buy or trade for new shiny armor from a crafter, but if you realy wan't some nice gear, it would be based on the time you spent using one piece of gear. So at first it would be realy crappy and weak, but you could upgrade it in time with bones or skin from rare beasts that give you some edge and a badass look. Tatoos would be a big thing in this game. To avoid over ganking and stuff, everyone would have super hearing and strong intuition, so if someone unknown to you is coming you would get restless and you're adrenaline would raise, giving you the oportunity to fight or flee, if you were up against a single oponent, both of you would have an adrenaline rush and it would be somewhat a fair fight, but if you were up against a group of PKers, you're adrenaline would go trough the roof and you could run faster, fight harder, but still, you would neet to be a real veteran, with many kills to kill a whole group of people, there could even be a negative buff for a group attacking a single target, but there would always be a posibility of escape. Weapons would mostly be clubs and blunt trauma weapons with occasional blade, but those would be rare, because first, finding metal would be like finding an honest car salesman and making a weapon out of it would take time and effort, any other blades would be sharpened rock. Because weapons would be blunt and whatnot, there wouldn't do much damage so there wouldn't be insta kills or things like that, again giving you the possibility to run away, since your adrenaline is raising as your health is droping. Full looting, ofcourse, so those few blades that would exist would actualy be almoust epic because most of the time you would actualy need to kill the wearer if you want it, but killing him would not be as easy as in other games. There would be alot of tournaments and fighting for reputation in your village, so PVP would be rich even without risking death. Oh, and there would defenatly be killing blows, so that if you realy want to PK someone you need to press the PK button, you could always KO him, loot him and leave a message, hey dude, was a nice fight, but if you want your blade back, you can find me here.

The last one would be more like a joke, a fancy chat tool. It would be based on BBC and it's award winning documentarys. There would be this imaginary continent filled with all kinds of anymals that would need to hunt each other for food, but it wouldn't be anything like real animal kingdom because real IQ would be behing the stearing wheel so if you are lion, you actualy could be attacked by 25 prary dogs and served as tartar stake. It would be cool to be a bird, cuz you could fly, but you would basicly only PVE, unless you are a hawk, but again, 10 pidgeons would easily kick a hawks ass... There would be rudementary skill system in place based on your survival rate. It would also be FFA PVP but 2 players of each species would almoust never be able to kill one another before the other one gets away. Later expansion would feature an underwater expirience.... etc etc

Why do I have a feeling that i won't get the chance to make a MMO anytime soon?

Personally, got tired of my own complaining about what I wanted as well as others agreeing with me. So, I and the others formed a team to build our own. Seeking to build the first MECH MMORPG and we're well on our way. Click siggy/link to see what my vision is.

Well ive always ahd a soft spot for certain Mech type Manga films So i guess id model a Realistic looking 3D city with internal architecture such as rooms corridors arbatoriums etc.

Id have NPC's living and working and everything NPC's Walls desks floors ceillings etc will be full destructable with realistic physics where its possable to cause an entire building to collaps due to sheer battle damage.

the city will be about 20 km square and surrounded by 40km of Bare land of various landscapes all around the city. Every day the world is reset and all damage is undone.

Game wise you can go about on foot with basic carryable arms or you can ride a mech. being either a mech tank Both tracked and Biped. Yuo can also ahve the standars humanoud mech to. Also its looks are fully customisable with parts availabel on a mech market holding a variety of 1000's of parats from chest armout to Arm hydrolics [for faster aiming].

THere will be 2 types of gameplay avaialble here first is PvE these invole training missions in special parts of the city where you ahve to take out a target. Also there will be random 'Rogue ' mech attacks where you are set up as the here. As in all battles PvP or PvE The defeated opponent's Mech teleports out to his garage leaving wrecjage behind where you can salvage parts from for selling on or for using yourself.

Inthe other type of Fighting it will be PvP where you flag yourself for PvP and elave the garage and Basically hunt bearing in mind some meks can fit inside buildings so watch out for groupe ambushes. There will also be 2 factions to begine with City police and Rogues.

Garages will be instanced zones where you can store your stuff and upgrade/fix your Rig.

Of course that is a game i would enjoy gradully building a better and better mech to be the best pilot ever

Of course this will never be amde too complex programming wise im sure right now.

I would make a sci fi, fps shooter, story based game. There would be a whole area to the game that works like a strategy game so players can control land. There would be spaceship simulator. Basicly the whole game would be nothing like mmos we have today. No xp, no lvls, no health points. Combat wouldn't be about how long you can click the same set of buttons. It would be twitch based,

I would have huge areas for bf2142 style battles.

You could gain skills such as spinter cell type arcobatics, Mind powers to control npc or players ( like normal mmorpg spells but cast instantly and would normally kill instantly ), Hand to hand combat with a large amount of moves like in a beat-em up.

I would make the content for players to enjoy and feel challenged. Not so they feel they have to keep playing to get the next lvl or a new piece or gear.

I would first work on the technology for the game first. Make it more of a virtual reality type of thing... think .hack//sign.

Yeah. Then I'd patent that virtual reality stuff and make loads of money ^.^ lol

The doll would surely say, "I do not want to be human!" although her master wants her to be even more.

I'd take the character customization of AC. the LDoN system from EQ, there would only be one type of mobs. No elite, or solo, or 3 dot bull crap. TLC would not exist. All mobs would give xp. No raids. Very little solo options, like EQ. I'd take the lfg and teleportation system from WoW.

Me and a couple of people are actually trying to make an MMO.. I'm hoping to create a Sci-Fi MMO.

One where you can have space ships, go to different planets, have great questing, great interface, WASD/Arrow Key movement.

Pretty much that is what I would create.. hopefully I will.. MMOs that take place in Medieval times are starting to get old now. Sci-Fi would probably be the best types of MMOs.

I have a concept for an MMO I've been working on since UO debuted.

    I call it Amberdese.

The concept is based on Alien Abduction and Genetic Alteration.

The premise is,  humans have been abducted for slave labor, genetically altered for certain jobs within a slave mining operation.

There is a structured class tree that begins Brain or Brawn.

Each of these is broken into three subclasses.

For Brain you have Boss, Tech, and Med.

For Brawn you have Bigger, Digger, and Mech.

Boss were originally designed to be department administraitors, supervisors, team and community leaders.

Tech were designed to be the engineers and scientists.

Med to be the doctors, medics, and support personel.

Bigger were designed to be large manual brute force, hauling gear, manual mining.

Digger are machine operators, thinking miners, drivers.

Mech are the mechanics, builders, and repair staff.

The concept follows that Amberdese is a large asteroid, small planetoid, possibly a moon. For one reason or another, mine played out, war, finaces whatever the Alien masters abandon the mining colony. The slaves are now on their own and have to relearn skills and knowledge that had been lost to their culture over thousands of years of slavery. Other than the immediate mining operation most of the technology left behind is new and Alien to the survivors.

Premise : If a caveman found a modern day pistol, would they understand it? learn to use it? avoid shooting themself in the head with it?

I have spent years developing a very unique and complex community based skills and learning tree,  based on the concept of pack, herd and shared knowledge. When I was in the military I was part of a project and study based on shared knowledge and I developed some personal insights into how we as a team, unit, community, culture learn, share, and process knowledge and new understanding, it has helped me develop a system where individual skill and knowledge is a expanded offshoot of community knowledge.

Example : If a community does not know or understand gunpowder, would and individual member of that community know or understand bullets? On the other hand if a community does know and understand gunpowder, could an individual or unit of that community figure out bullets?

Another unique aspect of my world is perma-death. I have put MUCH thought into a world that incorporates this aspect and feel I have come up with an interesting way of addressing it to make it appealing.

Two parent Inherited skills, knowledge, and assets.. our children are the wholes of ourselves AND our partner.

I have designed a kind of complex child lottery system.

Parent A, player  + Parent B, player or NPC mate = genetic, skills and assets pool  X 4...

You then as a perma dead character can select one of 4 random patterns from this pool, and it is born as your child ( new avatar or incarnation ). This child will begin with not only your skills, knowledge, and abilities, but those of your chosen partner as well.

The child will not posess the level of competancy  your primary and partner may have had, but a randomly determined level in the selected skill or ability. However skills can be improved and now your child has the potential to be twice the character that either of its parents were.

However to discourage people just making characters and killing them over and over to form super children, my system institutes genetic and skill bonuses awarded at certain levels of chracter development. The longer you live obviously the stronger and more prepared your child will be.

Setting : My community is set deep underground.. 20 levels down. With another 20 levels below.  1 or 2 levels up, 1 or 2 levels down is known and relatively tame. Levels down are mine and cave, resource gathering areas. Levels up are technological, offices, labs, processing centers, manufacturing centers. technology gathering areas..

Both up and down have more and more difficult challenges from monsters down to security droids up...

Anyway this is a very rough concept of my design and idea... and if any developer out there wants to discuss it with me I'd be more than happy. : )

And of course concept and writing copywrite 3/1/2007

Tron - the concept of Tron is Users controlling Avatars in a computer network which is, well, an MMORPG. It would be a MMO that knows it's a MMO. But other than stomping out viruses and playing the mini games from the movie not sure what else to have.

Time travel - a time travel MMO would be cool because you could work in future settings, medieval settings and more. But the problem would be how to make it different other than a neat idea for the zones. Allowing people to alter the future with actions in the past might be too hard to program and too hard to control(some ass hat super guild could totally abuse a system like that).

With MMOs you have to take into consideration both casual players and hard core players. You need content easy enough through out the entire game that a casual can accomplish in the couple hours per week they play but it also needs content hard enough to keep hard core players interested long term. Interesting and new systems are a must as well but nothing thats too exploitable. Never underestimate the lengths some people will go to when it comes to doing anything no matter how hard it is or how long it takes. Catering solely to one group will ensure a swift death of your game.

I would come up with a mmo who was a mix of Entropia Earth and beyond and Oblivion and Dark ages of camelot

    Game for your life

    Wheel of Time MMO, ftw!

All the classes are there, magic, vivid mythology and history, and a huge world to explore. There are tons of MUDs out there based on WoT, so the ideas are out there, but just think of it with graphics and an  awesome interface!! Crafting, duels, full-scale warfare, trade.....there are sooooo many things you could do with WoT.

Set it during the period between the AoL and the Trolloc Wars....or even in the Fourth Age....soooooo many possibilities.

*drools while she thinks about being able to play an Aes Sedai*
