I have to admit that it's the character creation for me too. Not just the physical customization, but the skills as well. I find myself sitting around thinking of a cool hero theme and then trying to make it in game when I get home. One of my favorites is Mutant Stalker named Max the Hare. Besides looking like a rabbit-man, he has rabbit themed skills... claws and agility, speed and leaping. Sure, he isn't the most effective build I could imagine, but he is my creation.... and I haven't seen another one like him. Besides that, I have also made reasonable recreations of Radioactive Man, Spawn and the Maxx. What other game lets you do that?
It isn't really accurate to say that you are stuck with one look after character creation. You can make changes to your appearance at any time. The difference between this game and every other RPG out there is that you don't have to compromise appearance for effectiveness, and vice versa.... besides all that, it is pretty fun to play
Been thinking about giving CoH another try and was wondering if it was worth a shot or are there hardly any lower levels anymore?
Thats a common thing among other games like WoW and EQ but not with CoH. In City of Heroes there are ALWAYS lower level players and there are ALWAYS other players your level to team with. Thats because it has a high replay value and people are always making more alts.
I have tried DnD Online, played WoW alot, I keep coming back to CoH because of the following twothings:
1. The community, as mentioned. The RP community is fantastic and the people who don't roleplay just let us do our thing. Whereas the community in WoW is, for the most part, like playing with mentally retarded brick walls.
2. The Sidekicking/Exemplaring system. If I had a dime for every time in WoW when I've outleveled a friend or vice versa I'd be richer than Countess Crey. SKing opens up new worlds in many ways.
The environmental physics, the combat, and the customization are all simply better, as well. In WoW I can be running away from an enemy, and he'll swing his weapon, it it won't actually touch me, but I still get hit and killed. In CoH I can keep moving, staying out of melee, and it actually works.
The one single complaint I have about CoH is the absolute nessecity to team in the later levels. If I try to solo I simply get nothing post-40. I need an 8-man team usually or my XP bar barely moves. I may have a deep-seated love of roleplay and taking my time, and I'm the exact opposite of a powergamer or min/maxer, but even I want to hit level 50 some day! I currently have a 42 Mind Control/Force Fields Controller and a 30 Mercs/Posion Mastermind.
Now, bring on the invention system, and maybe a bit more endgame content...

I have a question, does anyone still play on champion? If so how is the community and getting into teams? Im fixing to come back and im wondering if I should go to virtue for a more mature players/sg because when I played coh before issue8 the community become pretty dead on weekdays and I dont mean late at night. Maybe it was because cov had more variety of missions at the time im not sure anyways id appreciate any advice thanks all.
Is it the fact that you can recreate your favorite character (superman,Ironman,Flash,etc..) in your own way and powers...Is it the powers and magic that lies in the game?...or is it the fact that you may create your own hero and fight along side a team? my question is what draws you in to this game? me personally , truley has to be creating my own hero and fighting along side friends.

I dont know if anybody have posted this but i got dragged into this game because of
1. The unique costume "thing"
2. there is NO such things as armor, swords, shields etc. in this game only money (influence), and xp
3. i doesnt depends what euip you have it depends on the Skills and abilities the Char has
thats why i like this game
