Ever Quest with a new name!

in FreeWorld: Apocalypse Portal

As much as I hate to sound "snobish", this game looks exactly like EverQuest, which may or may not be a good thing. EverQuest IS the most popular MMORPG out there, but seriously, is it necissary to clone it? But looking at the initial screen shots, it seems like they just took "EQ", gave it a face lift and a new name. Oh well, lets just see if its any good when they release it.

    well....im the owner of MindSurge Entertainment......and i know we are nothing like EQ...

    first off.....we are a sci-fi and fantasy cross-over game.

    also we have REAL TIME combat.......the graphics will be 100% redone this phase :) (we are redoing ever model and texture)

    I say "You don't sound snobbish, you sound ignorant." You should do your homework before stating a comment like that.   Please do show what you have to back that up, I would love to see it.   Funny you would think EQ looked like FW when FW is still in their Alpha stage. But, that didn't bother me as much as your comment about it being cloned, that was just wrong. As far as EQ being the most popular, is incorrect as well, granted it may be a good game, and popular... however, it is not the only game that is doing well.  Tsk Tsk... You have a bad hair day or what?  Geesh image

    Bah, got to it before I did. But yeah, comparing games is like comparing apples and oranges. You can put em next to each other, but that doesn't mean they're the same. Get your facts straight, and your priorities crooked.

    the only thing i can see similar to EQ is the alpha stage graphics, which are being completly re-made, other than that, the entire system is completly differnt, Were EQ was level based, FW will be skill based, amoung many other differnt things, such as was stated, Real time combat, no click and wait for outcome of the battle.

    Everyone is entitled to their opinion of course, but i would at least like to see you play the game first...

    Oh and if you are judging your decision off the winners of the latest Screenshot contest... don't... i wont go into why here :P

    You need to get ur crap straight and try FW be4 u got acusing them of cloning the shiznit. Screenshots really dont mean a damn thing. so u need to shut that trap about draco and the rest of the crew of cloning the damn EQ.

    FW is like EQ.. lol thats bullshit. As everyone else has stated. The games got 2 years development and the graphics are already as good as EQ's so imagin what it will look like.

    The battling is alot more differant than EQ too.. althoguh it seems to be very solo based at the moment. Every class can solo. Although that will probably change as magic get implemented and so on.

    I really don't see any other similarities, the pets are differant, the zones are differant, the maps are differant, okay there are a few similar or the same races, but thats just with every fantasy game really.

    Freeworld is going to be a great game. I am glad I have the privelage of seeing it in alpha and putting my pennys worth okasionally. I just wish i had the programing and graphic creating skill to make my own MMORPG. I have the Idea's, characters, storylines etc its just all the stuff that matters i can't do.. except make a website hehe. I was going to write a story for an MMORPG my friend was gonna creat 4th year at UNI, but he has way to much work now unfourtuanatly, so its a good think i only wrote up a basic intro for it a couple of years ago otherwise it woulda been alot of wasted time.

    I've played alot of mmorpg's, big , small, probably around 100. most of them are alot alike.
    I have tried freeworld as well, and i will say this.
    freeworlds combat is like none other i have tried.

    did you actualy log into the game?

    oh i have to add another thing i liked about it. most games in development or in betas(alphas) you ant get the devs/mods to talk to save your life. for this game its getting them to shut up is the problem::::28::

    theres always gonna be negative players that claim stupid things such as this...much like they sit and complain about their game they play and still play it....plz devs dont take this joker seriously great game and lots of factors seperate the two this guy has no clue though cause hes an.....ah nm:)

    FW and EQ are completely different. You have to be a complete moron to think they are the same. FW is a very unique game, and they havent even finished it yet. MMORPG's are all alike but those too are different. I've played EQ and am testing FW. Dont talk about Sh*t u dont know about

Man i hate how people jump to conclusions and assume things, but then i do it myself at times, i guess thats being human.

    o0o one more thing...

    You can't just open a program on your computer one day and tpe "make mmorpg" and have one pop-out that are 'up to your standards'. It takes years of practice alright? The difference here is that the game is being made for FREE to play for FREE. Drac may not admit it, but he's rather generous :P As well is the rest of the staff (but they'll all admit to it)

    Free? I am sure when it goes live it isn't going to be free.. I am sure Drac or one of the Dev team said that online the other day. if it is no monthly free then all the more for it! But i would pay to play FW aslong as funds permited. I just wish there were more ways i could help out the Dev team. There all such great people.
