My system...

I'm a total novice, so that is why I am asking this question. In regards to MEO and GW, would my system be able to recreate the best possible graphics for these games?

2.4GHz pentium 4 on XP
512MB Ram
Radeon 9800pro

Thank you.

I am only typing this in your best interest:

How the *** could anyone answer your question? Why not pose it in the forums that correspond to the topic? The community people are there (representatives from the corresponding game) that are much more qualified to answer such technical questions.

    So:

Ask your questions in the MEO and GW forums, because the community people don't respond to these posts (general posts) usually

"That's not a toy. Hey wait a minute. Don't f* around homey you can lose an eye with it. That's mah double-blade-razorwhip-chop-jimmy and it's mine mf*er so gimme gimme."

This is a sequence of characters intended to produce some profound mental effect, but it has failed.

With a decent processor (2.4GHz) and one of the best video cards on the market (9800 Pro), I would say your system has a good shot at running those games fairly well.

OMG yes, why are you even worrying? Or are you one of those people who buy the most expensive things but don't know what to do with them, you rich prick.

Actually I have done this before with white castles. I bought to omany, and attempted to make a white castle pie and my idiot dog jumped on the table destroying my white castle , caste (made from boxes and my pie). Lol, he ended up throwing most of everything he ate the next day though.

I'm pretty sure you will be able to run both real well but not at the best possible(max settings/res) that will probably be for the cutting edge systems AMD 64/p4 3GHz+ with the GF 6800/ATi X800 graphic cards etc.

The most limiting factor in your system is your ram, 512 MB is quite low.  Try and get 1GB(faster ram is good too, not sure what kind you have now).  But in general you have a nice cpu/graphics card combo and should be ready to run those games ok with most bells and whistle enabled.  Guild Wars you will be able to try out soon. image

512 Ram is still fine in the market, though in a year, it won't probably. I have 512 Ram, and no real problems right now.

Anyway, your specs are fine, you will be able to run GW on the max settings with that, not sure about MEO, but I'm most certain you will be able to run MEO more than fine. You are set for another year and a half or so, then you will need to upgrade.

Thanks everyone I appreciate your help here, what kind of RAM do you guys recommend? I'm a total bone head, and don't know exactly which type I have... think ddr sdram. What is a good type/brand, and what would be a decent price? Oh, how would I figure out which type I have? Once again I apologise for my limited knowledge. Thank you.

I wrote a long post, tried to post it, it didnt post, now im stuck using commas, and my only recommendations is to ignore the jelous flamers and get another stick of 512 DDRAM for help during laggy times.

Yea another 512 MB DDR ( pref pc3200 = 400 Mhz ) will be nice, then you're pretty much set. I don't look at brands much all I look at that it's at least cl 2.5 ram, get cl 2 if you have the cash, don't get cl 3 tho ( if you ask about it at the store they should know or be able to find out ). About brands, Kingston and Corsair are nice.

You could always get ac2 free trail, and turn everything maxed... if you can run that flawlessly i'm pretty damn sure you should be able tyo run guildwars near maxed, ac2 is actually a ok game now, just had a rough start... I max everything in ac2 and I run ok, jsut water lowers my fps down to the 20's.... on a geforce fx 5900se, amd athlon exp 2400+ (2.0 ghz), and only 512 megs of ram...I kind of am saving for a monitor, so my comp wont be upgraded for a while. I should be able to run games for at least another year... and if I cant, i'll just... play older funner games, that jsut have crappier graphics. Since the game industry is going all graphics no gameplay now, cya.

Great processor ,one of the best cards avaliable even with the next gen cards coming out.Should handle any mmorpg coming out in the next 2 years.More RAM always a good plus though.
