graphics are wierd

I have been playing vanguard and the first couple of days were great, but recently I have been running into issues with the graphics.  The biggest issue I have is that buildings and landscapes are forming lines on my monitor and I cannot get rid of them.  Should I change the resolution?  Should I update my direct 9.0?  Any thoughts would be a great help.

Firstly, when asking for advice on graphical anomalies, it is extremely helpful to actually state what graphics card, and other system specs, you are using.

Some things to try. Make sure your video card drivers have not become corrupt. Download the latest drivers for your card and install them. Remove the old drivers first. Install the latest DirectX. If this does not help try disabling write combining. Right click on your desktop to bring up the display properties, go the 'settings' tab, click the 'advanced' button, select the 'troubleshooting' tab and uncheck 'Enable write combining'. See if this helps. Other things that could cause artifacting like this are an overheating GPU or a lack of adequate power to the card. Make certain the power connector to the card hasn't worked loose. Also make sure the GPU fan is still working correctly. Is your power supply adequate for the card? Do you get these video artifacts in any other games? Are you overclocking your GPU? If so return it to stock speeds and see if that clears things up. If all this doesn't help you may have a faulty card.

Well for your information I looked up all the words I used in my post to see if any were  any misspelled words.   My recommendations for you are:

    1.  Buy a new dictionary since the one you are using is in need of an update.

    2.  Stay away from the pipe.  It is messing up what few brain cells you are happening to be using.

    3.  If you cannot answer a post without  flamming someone, do not answer them.

I am using a 7300GS with 256 DDR2 ram.  I will take a look and make sure my fan is running and all my drivers are up to date.  Thanks for the suggestions.

I have a 7600 GS with 256 DDR2 megs of ram.  I am using a 19" WD and I have checked and reinstalled the video drivers, reinstalled direct x 9.0C and have checked the temp on the video card.  The temp is 38 degrees C and the fan is running.  When I run the game in windows mode I do not have these weird graphics, but in full screen  mode I am getting this.  I have tried several other games and I get the same graphics.  I have also tried all of the resolutions that this display will allow and it does not work.  Should I go back to a regular 19" monitor?  Thanks for any advice.

I had lines and wierd graphics going on on-screen the time i got EN7900GT after running it a few weeks, took it back to the store cause this already happend with games like WOW and only became much worse in time, they "said" the looked into it but couldn't find the reason, send it back to Asus and 24h later got a new one(was told it could take upto 48h the way ASUS seem to handle things, this was about 8months ago) till today working perfect thou am tempted to upgrade but rather wait till everything is more settled as in the new N cards/drivers/Vista and more cookies coming our way to up the system. So i would say if you still have waranty and almost sure you have made a good setup/ all drivers and such seem correct to you go back to the store and let them look into it, some cards just might have a small default on them and can be replaced easely.

Yes I have sent the card back.  The tech support at XFX is going to test the card and make sure that all is working or if not they will send me a new car.

Cool, let us know if it worked out, if so give me the adress of that shop, want to trade me card in for a CAR too :) hehe (understood you meant card, just felt to much humor missing on this forum)

That was good, maybe they should go in the car business since their video cards do not work so well.

most likely if you would of rolled back the driver to about 88.xx it would work. When you have games that have been in production they tend to forget to look at the specs of the latest drivers available and dev's don't update the code to support the latest drive definitions. Personal opinion it is laziness for a game that was in development during the lastest set of drivers to not work with  the drivers.

I am new to tweaking video card drivers.  How do you select the other type drivers.  I downloaded the latest drivers but they are card specific.

I believe that the phrase for such graphics would be "realistically plastic".

Well got the news yesterday.  The card was DOA.  Failed the 3D rendering test that FX completed on the card.  They are sending me a credit.  I hope to be back playing VG in a couple of days.

I bought an XFX card that had the same problem, only to a much worse degree. Dont get me wrong, they were great about replacing it; didn't give me any problems at all with the exchange, but knowing now that I'm not the only one, I probably wont buy an XFX product again in the future.
