Just a heads up to anyone who thinking of joining.  Fodder acounts are ending... New CE is coming up...  From what players are saying on the planetside forums ALOT of players are leaving. Mostly because of this.

The game is dying and they are doing this to help. Good luck SOE it was kinda fun while it lasted.

Sony: We aren't going to get any new people and the ones we have probably aren't gonna quit, so let's milk them.

I swear, most MMORPGs on the market are not worth $15/mo.  Some of them are difficult to justify $10/mo.  If anything, the cost should go down as a game gets older, just as with all single player games.  Otherwise the game is gonna loose people to the next World of Warcraft.

This game has been doomed for at least 2 years.  It's fun, but it's never going to get more popular.

I agree.  I find it odd, however, that no one has really tried to mimic/ improve upon the whole open battlefield concept (with the exception of WW2 online).

I was really into the game when it was more popular a few years ago, and have been off and on since using fodderside accounts.

I want to subscribe again, but after seeing this Im not so sure. I would come back for a month or so probably even with the price hike (although wouldnt be happy), but with the end of fodderside I don't think it will be worth it since the population on werner (where I play) will be even worse than it already is.

Its a real shame, as fodderside was the only thing keeping this game intersting. Once the vets run out of targets to kill and there are no pop locks ever, I can't see many people sticking around.

Yeah dude I've been playing PS since it came out, took a few breaks here and there, but i think that my subscription is about to end finally due to the increased price.  honestly, the lack of real updates and increase in price was enough to break this camels back.  since i heard the bad news ive been trying out free mmos.  anyone know of any good ones?  recently tried corum online and that game is really nice considering its free.

I logged in today while my account is still active. I pressed P to bring up the squad list, just curious to see who is still playing. I saw 2 squads that totaled 11 people. I know there are people who solo, but man it is almost dead. We the NC had highest population too.

As for a game now, i picked up BF2142 for $35.00. No subscription fees, and they already have an expansion pack coming out. It reminds me of Planetside in a way. They have tanks like magriders, Walkers (BFRs), Dropships (Galaxy), squad becons (reminds me of an ams), and more. Plus its cool to unlock some of the cool gadgets to further customize your character.

I know its not Planetside. It will do for now. You probally run into bigger battles on BF2142. lol

I played in Open Beta then subed for awhile, I quit shortly after the BFR's came out, I hated those damn things.

Many people did.  Thankfully, they've been nerfed to hell, and are essentially what they set out to be: super-heavy tanks.

MMO games played or tested: EQ, DAoC, Archlord, Auto Assault, CoH, CoV, EQ2, EVE, Guild Wars, Hellgate: London, Linneage II, LOTRO, MxO, Planetside, SWG, Sword of the New World, Tabula Rasa, Vanguard, WWIIOL, WOW, Age of Conan
