    That kinda sucks, tbh.

I don't want to see EVE with the amount of players Runescape has. They can barely hold the numbers it's already got.

I don't think a snippet in BBC news is going to do as much to the game's population as THIS WILL!!

hint: The link is a video from GDC, its EVE, and there are legs!

Hopefully if there is a large increase in the number of players they will add more servers. If they don't, and the game gets really laggy, I for one will have to stop playing (laggy games are so annoying). If a significant amount of people think the way I do, then CCP will have a very strong incentive to keep the game responsive.

Now if they would just offer some twitch based combat ala Privateer/freelancer (Drones and fighters)

I agree completely - a ground game for EVE could really kick it to the next level, I know that I for one still have an account open and train skills along the way, but it always felt that something was missing in EVE - and that something is clearly on the way.  I know a lot of people who didn't like EVE because the "always in your ship" thing made it too detatched, it was a ship not "you" in your ship.  This would change all that forever.

Obviously some sort of ground (or on-ship) combat and social gameplay would really open this wide up - it's not hard to imagine putting in a few spy / bughunt missions ingame either, and if you could acutally take those marines you bought for no particular reason with you into the fight, or those slaves as battlefodder (and yes the Amaar are evil, but their ships are nice anyway)... well the stars are the limits.  I agree though that there may well come a point where they will need more than the one live server.  However of all the people out there who could really make this work, I'd back CCP.

Would there be an actual purpose to leaving your ship besides socializing (thinking old EnB stuff - vendors, mission terms, etc) or is it just for looks at the moment?

Currently its mainly social with some tactical stuff but ccp ahve stated that they want the community to put foward ideas in the apropriate forum.

EDIT: i forgot to say tho that EvE did this before by appring on the BBC.
