Well I know most of you hate Sony... so thats why i didn't post the news last week..... but today actually RIGHT NOW phill harrison is talking about the future of PS3... and Sony lifted the embargo on this beauty called Playstation Home...

 

Check it out its kinda like 2nd life...

You could also think of it as 2nd Life + Nintendo Mii's + Microsoft's Achievements.+ Myspace.. It's pretty sweet..

    Oh snap... Joystiq is live blogging the event and its even Hotter than i thought..

     

    11:07 a.m.: When switching between locations, a loading screen says "relocating" and a progress bar fills up. It takes but a couple seconds, but we don't like being taken out of this other world. The sports location looks like an ESPN Zone on steroids. The Hall of Fame. Looks like PS3 is finally getting it's Achievements.



    "The final part of the home experience that we would like to share with you is something called the Hall of Fame," he said. "You decide which trophy you want to position in the premium cabinets and you can share these with your friends."



    Note, Phil is careful to not use the word "achievement" to describe their new feature. That's okay, we're just glad to have 'em, regardless of what they're called.



    11:11 a.m.: The space is a virtual trophy room (think Predator spaceship). When he looks over the balcony, there appears to be hundreds (thousands?) of additional trophies lining hte walls. The system doesn't slow down for a second. You're able to see what other trophies are just out of reach (or, in this case, way out of reach).



    "It's not just about the games that you own. It's about the entire network of games that's available for Playstation 3. I think this gives you a sense of where htis might go in the future as hundreds and hundreds of titles are added. You can check out the trophies and that give the users an incentive to go and buy your game as well. It's a unique realtime 3D community for the playstation network."

    Awsome, a place to go thats almost akin to hell.

    My question is why?

    What use does this have outside of "okay kinda neat", If you thought the barrens chat in WoW was bad; just you wait.

    I for the life of me can't decide if this is any better than X-box live and it's share of pure humanity gone to hell.

    Well apparently you can use this as a launching platform for other games... AND you can use the private places as clubhouses..

    So imagine you're in a big Wow clan... and you are going to raid soon... Wouldn't it be cool if you had a club house to go to before and after... Before so you can plan it... and afterwards just to chill and crack jokes.. Or watch video's you just took of the Raid and uploaded..

    Apparently you can place T.V.'s in your home and watch streaming video off the PS3... or lisn to Streaming Music...... Or maybe you won some cool trophies from your last game and you wanted to show off to a few of your friends...

    thats actually pretty cool! but how does communication work? does the PS3 also comes with a headset or keyboard?

    I made a coment on Gamespot, under the article with this news, and it was something like:



    Could we say this is some kind of "mini-Second Life"?... It looks neat, it's interesting... but I don't think it will make someone buy the system...



    That's waht I think.. interesting but something that once it looses its novelty won't be considered a big deal..... Now, for all Sony fanboyus out there:



    This feature... this is a GIMMICK!



    There, I said it.... from what I said before I think I consider it a gimmick...

    Neat. I don't regret buying my 360, but this is definitely really, really cool.

    WOW! We just managed to include to posts using the word gimmick and there is no warming up or something... there is no flaming... what the hell is going on? Has Hell frozen over?

    To me even with this... PSN doesnt compete with XboxLive.... This is great news but incomporable to Live.. they are just two different beasts..

    Why would a console be considered a MMOG? That's like making a PC a mmog. I really don't know about this. Although it's neat, I mean a lot of work has to be put into it to make it even nearly as close as to what Second Life has been doing for a few years.

    Welll I figured since this is going to be an app that will use your PS3 as a HOME and every PS3 will have it for free.. that kind of makes the whole PS3 network a MMO no? I'm not really implying that the PS3 itself is an MMO... PS Home is the MMO but still its close enough since every ps3 will be a Home

    Sounds like fun

    Not something I'd buy the console for, but if you already own one or plan on buying one it's a great additon. Also the graphics are pretty sweet.

    Pretty cool.



    But I think this will turn out like a 3d myspace for the console world. And not a awesome matchmaking system like Xbox live. And Microsoft will probably launch something similar if this turns out to be a big hit.

    Guild Wars is still not a mmo. And this isn't either. This is pretty much like Guild Wars. A public "room" where everyone can meet and greet, and then invite other people to join you in instances. Probably public rooms like "Europe 03, Europe 324" too, just like Guild Wars.
