The first sign that LotRO will annoy me is that I have to wait through 10 different splash/loading screens before I get into gameplay. And another 3 screens to get to Monsterplay. That is at least 5 minutes worth of merely logging in and waiting for the dumb game to do its crap before I even get to play. Yeah that is fun!
This game bombards you with way too many silly quests. The sheer number of quests makes me care about none of them. Also, the quests give you poor instructions such as "Go south of this city and look for Mr. Waldo". South of an entire city to find one person? That is a lot of help. There is no minimap feature for NPCs. There are no NPCs that can help you locate other NPCs. If I wanted to look for an NPC thousands of times in a video game, I would have bought the video game "Where is Waldo?"!
There is nothing new and orriginal about LotRO. Some say Monsterplay is an orriginal idea but I disagree. Monsterplay is merely a PvP zone added onto the game as an afterthought. The "ettenmoors" is a poorly designed zone for PvP. Combat in Monster Play degenerates to players camping in places where PvE characters guard them and kill the other players. Hmm... I thought this was supposed to be a PvP zone.
If you enjoy LotRO keep playing... but there is no way I will.

10 Screens? Wow.. I only have three and it takes about 30 seconds to get in game for me. Same for MP.
Sounds like you prefer the "head to this area (x,y) and kill 10 of this and bring them back to me". There's more to that than questing in LOTRO. You actually have to do some exploring for some of them.
MP was not an afterthought.. it's been in the game for a while now. It's the only real way Turbine could stick with the lore and allow a bit of pvp for players.
Sorry.. sounds like LOTRO isn't for you. You might want to try some of the other recently released games that encourage more mob grinding, more mob kill quests and allow you more pvp options.

Oh, as for PvMP its hard to say how 'PvPish' it is considering this is a beta very few 45+ characters.
Sounds to me like you're just another LotRO hater because it just doesn't fit your style. So if you don't like it then don't even post your gripes about it here unless they are constructive, which they are not. Too many splash screens? 10 you say? There is only 3-4 when you first log in, and about the same amount for Moster Play. And there is no way it takes 5 minute to log in. More like 2-3. You can also Esc key through most of them.
Sounds like you started playing LotRO with the bias in your head that you wouldn't like it. You complain of too many quests yet the designers have said it will be a quest driven game. You don't like how hard they are when all it takes is a few minutes to look around. One of the objectives in PvMP is to capture fortresses and bunkers where NPCs are. The side that controls the bunker has NPCs of their side there to help protect it. Nothing wrong with that, other than how I said there are not many super high level characters atm that are on at the same time.
Currently: Playing EVE Online
Previous: FFXI, Dragonrealms, sad little stint in WOWland.
Awaiting: Fallen Earth, Hero''s Journey, Tabula Rasa, Age of Conan.

Good luck in your next game...

Don't let the door hit you in the ass. Five minutes to login, might want to ask mom for a new emachine.
Dude, you made my day. Lol, i was pissed off with something but after reading your post on LotRO, how can anyone still be angry after reading that. x]
It's true what others say, about this might not be your style of game you prefer, but for people to bash on the fact that you dilslike the game, sheesh. Lol.
Btw, your post is helpful to those who might be contemplating to start this game, facts before playing this game usually helps.. i think o.~.

Seems to me that the OP is coming from a game they've played quite awhile, in which they know where everything and everyone is. So now they started a new game, at least as a stress tester or beta tester, and things aren't easy like that other game.
It's hard to find things sometimes, and frustrating to follow the directions given in the quest info, and not find what it says you're going to find. If you spend a few extra minutes going back over the directions and then still don't find what you're supposed to find, it gets more frustrating. If you're in a hurry, it's worse still.
Pretty soon, you exit the game and come to a forum that has no real connection to the game you were playing to rant about the frustration, instead of going to the game's official forums and looking for the answer, or writing a post there to ask for information about that particular quest.
You might've saved a lot of that time if you'd been patient enough to look for some experienced players and asked them about whatever you weren't finding. But you were trying to solo your way through the Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game, weren't you?
Actually, that's not uncommon at all. None of it. I've said it before, I'll say it again. MMORPGs are for people to play TOGETHER. Not SOLO. Sure, there's solo-play in almost all of them, but that's not the point of the game, and shouldn't be, and I hope never will be. But there are a LOT of players coming into MMORPGs that grew up on console games, have no real concept of group play, who think the online games are a contest to see who can solo the highest the fastest and the most for the longest. They don't do "lore", they think Role-Playing is when a guy plays a female character, and they don't take the time to find other players to group with.
So, when you're lost, stuck, can't find NPC X, or the bee hives behind the abandoned house south of town, you might find one of the MULTIPLAYERS that might've done that quest before, before you get all frustrated and start throwing things and uninstalling things and bashing games on the forums.
Oh, okay... I ranted. Back to the OP. Yeah, I know how that goes, when you've played one game for months, or years, and start something new and get lost and can't find this, and you want very badly to level up and get to the next area and maybe get some decent armor and weapons, so if they'd just written this quest better you'd be able to follow the directions because you followed exactly what it said and you didn't find what you should've found so screw the whole thing. Unstall. Back to the old game where everyone knows your name, and you know theirs. And where they are.
No sense learning anything new. Not today.

"Ooo you don't like my game, you must be realllllyyyy stupid and poor and idiotic." was the general theme in this thread;
"It took you 5 minutes to log in? Is your computer 12 years old?"
" Sounds like you have a slow computer/internet and like to be babied in a game"
"Don't let the door hit you in the ass. Five minutes to login, might want to ask mom for a new emachine." ( elitist **** )

Hmm, mature communtiy here at LOTRO. You can all pat yourselves on the back you took the critisism of "your" game very well indeed.
