wierd experience with LOTRO beta.

So I was in closed beta as one of the first waves of people.  Played for a bit, hated it.  I mean hated it with a passion.  After like an hour I said, man this sucks and logged out.  Started to go back and play Dark Age of Camelot... after a couple hours of rvr'ing I was sitting there thinking to myself.. I want to play LOTRO for some reason... I hate that game.. but I want to play it.

Logged in, played for like 3 hours still, no fun.  I was like ok im REALLY over it.  Log out.

This time I log into my EQ2 account, figuring I was just bored with DAoC at the time which was why I wanted to play again.  After an hour im like.. grr.. WHY DO I STILL WANT TO LOG IN!!!...

Frustrated with myself I try it one more time.. yech.  I still don't like it.. what is going on with me...

this time I force myself to not play it and then 2 days ago a friend gets in beta.  We start running around doing quests, seeing the world a little more and now im hooked.. I can not put the game down.

 

Was it like this for anyone else?

    It's hormones man.

    Same thing happened to me.

    I am 36 and male. Something happens to us in our 30's man.

    We hate it! We love it! We hate it! We love it!

    It's like male frikkin menopause... or something...

    As long as we end up loving it in the end, I guess that's all that matters :)

    Heh, and here I thought it was just me.  I still don't like LOTRO, but the rest sounds familar.

    exactly..i cannot explain it either. Thats my exact experience. I hate quest based level/loot games.

    I am haveing a blast atm. Im hooked as well. I pre-ordered. I never pre-order ANYTHING.

    It's the community. Its gotta be. I dunno for sure though lol. But thats all i can come up with.

    MMpffhhh... 32 here (33 in 3 weeks), and similar... can't say I ever _hated_ it as such, but in the beginning I wasn't convinced at all.

    Maybe 'cause it's not an item-orientated game? Who knows :) Now I only stop it when the woman is starting to get upset only :) Although, yesterday I showed her how to play music in the game and she was obsessed :) also, she laughed her ass off when I started farming onions in the game:))

    I pre-ordered it too BTW - not my first one, it was Oblivion CE, but definitely my first MMO that I'll join from the very start :)
