I have been looking since the day the game came out to try and get it now i finally found out the fast and easy way.
Just go to www.plaync.com and click on buy city of hero's at the bottom of the page is an option to buy the digital download !!!!!, you get a serial number and the download link(which is made part of your plaync account so you can always redownload after a format).
The price is $50 same as boxed version but for speed i was not bothered(there servers are like lightning i was at max speed for the full download, took me about 2 and a half hours for a 855mb file).
Something else for the ppl who were in beta you can use the beta client for even faster access.
I know this only really helps ppl on broadband but it better than waiting a week + for it to be delivered and saves you on shipping costs

$50 gosh that is pricey, picked up the boxed version of horizons for less then $20
think the downloadable version should be cheaper since you get no rpinted manual/box.
But i agree it is handy to be able to download it as well.
I agree its a good alternative. Worked great for me.
And the server performance is still good even there is no 'european realm'.
Only thing is that i got a few 'Lost connections to Mapserver' error at first login. After a few tries it vanished and the game was running smooth and stable.

I have just read on the CoH forums that the option was disabled as it was originally put there just for overseas people who wanted to join in the game early, but too many americans who would prefer to have the game instantly without a box rather than wait for it to be delivered or go to a store. I guess it cut into their distribution deals or something.
Really really bad move to take it away but it seems for the moment at least it is not an option.

..sorry for you. I choose the option two days ago and it was there. Maybe i was one of the last to get the instant version.
...hmm i hihgly doubt this would be worth something
