heres my ten retro games that would make awesome RPG's
1. double dragon - mmorpg staged in a street fighting Urban world, based on building up gangs and turf opening "shops" or busting up other gangs
2. panzer dragoon - just make some awesome with it ... crazy dragon mounts blasting each other ... build up THEIR powers as well as your toons powers ... when dragons die thay can stay dead.. develope some nice arch nemesis relationships in game with people who killed your dragons you raised from young ..
3. Zelda - just cuz ( mark my words people this will be a reality one day )
4. resident evil - just cuz we need a zombie MMORPG ... somehow make it work heh
5. Grand theft auto - not really retro .. and would be controversial as an mmorpg .. but being a criminal toon VS cop toons would just be a divine experience ...
6. shadowrun - awesome genesis RPG
7. ninja gaiden
8. shinobi
9. snatcher - ( a lot of you wont know what this game is ... old school .. sega cd and turbo duo game .. those of you who DO know what this game is .. hats off you are gamers )
10. Y's ... again one of my fav rpg's of all time ...also a bit obscure to someone who hasnt been around for the first onslaught of games on CD

Not that i do not like zelda but it will only put the brand/name w/e down.

Guild Wars 2 is my religion
1. Wasteland!!
2. Asteroids
3. Planetfall or Stationfall (yeah a sci-fi mmorpg text adventure, just like MUDs)
4. Elite
X-com would rock BUT considering how many times publishers have tried to make sequels or kick start the series, yet failed miserably...I'd have very low expectations.
Still, Alien Invasion gernre.....Tabula Rasa may be the only thing that comes close to it.
Just imagine going on a crashed saucer recovery mission or going on an epic-scale Terror-Attack mission with 40 other people. Playing the aliens in the Terror Attack would be fun but I have my reservations about making them playable.

If they ever made a Zelda MMORPG, I would have bought it and subscribes even if I knew nothing about it. They did a great job on most of the Zelda games they released.

1. Lufia (but ONLY if they made it with mature chars instead of children)

3. TMNT (the reason I add this is due to the old Pallidium tabletop game TMNT and other strangeness. I loved playing my assassin roach)
4. Super Mario Bros (not sure why but would be fun seeing a world full of fat plumbers)
5. Silent Hill
Here's my weird list:
1. Demon's Crest (always cool to play a demon)
2. Another World/Out of this World (beautiful, awe inspiring world and surreal story)
3. Shadowrun (very moody and atmospheric, would love a mmo of this)
4. Castlevania (I have no idea how this could work but I guess something could be done)
5. Moonstone (this game was strange, but it had a pretty cool vibe to it, great for making a MMO)
6. Creatures (play a barf spewing furball.. now that would be sweet!)
7. Dune (I know it would be a flop but damn.. I love that setting)
8. Zombies Ate my Neighbours (an urban mmo where you kill zombies and try to survive.. awesome)
9. Monkey Island (Pirates and monkeys!)
10. Privateer (I'm not much into space MMOs but this could work)
