I've been thinking of a Un-lockable Race in FW and i wanted to got the community and ask for ideas on what you think a player should have to do to un-lock the race....and what shoudl the race look like and so on.

If they are unlockable they should be superior.....
and hard to get..
ifact drac i have been thinking more and more about the tech and i am really starting to love the idea.
I think you could have a futuristic alein race that can only exist in the future and a Race of Dragon like people for the past... or something along those lines.. actually i got an idea for the whole Sci-fi element of the game which I am going to post in a sec... but yeah i think that to unlock a race you should have to get ur char to lvl 100, and do 3 special quests that a really hard. I would have to have a serious think about it once the race was chosen because it should be something fitting.
The futuristic one could be... fixing a computer, linking to a satelite, making contact with intelligent life and them coming down.. but to do all that you need to get certain items and certain skills up etc etc...

ah you like my dragon race idea, cool. I think they should grow wings at higher levels enabling flight.. but only if certain quests are done...
How many other races do you want us to think of, cos i could talk codshit for hours...

Alright, we can evade the whole "Class" idea by simply making it this. When you reach a high lvl, you can opt to 'change' your race to a different form of it. I.E. the following:
Humans - Dragoons
Altrogs - Bangaa (see FF:TA)
Paladrones - Elders
Triderians - Full Demons
Unlockable only after many requirements are met

didnt i suggest the idea of unlockable and evolebale charchters to you waaaay back? i think that "new race idea's" thread you made long ago had em.
Anyway, first off the name Dragoon is going to have to change :P as its the name of Mounted calvary used during the revolutionary period.
however i am for the idea of a draconic sort of race, i always have been, i simply like the idea :P
so is each race going to have its own evolutionary path? For instance
Altrog - Draconic (they are already reptillian, so it seems logical)
Triderian - Demons (they evolve from their half-breeding to the stature of a full demon)
Human - i have no idea :P
Paladrone - Cyborgs (using equipment and tech found in the void they have turned themselves into half paladrone- half machines)

Well if your going to evolve them then why not make them slightly er... undervolved hehe. As in make the humans a bit like cave men lower lvls, and then as they advance they become really good with tech.
The elves could start out as... er.. what do elves evolve from? Mb they should have a similar evoloutionary patht to humans.
Demons could start out as hellspawn, and evolve with each kill. The more kills the more they evolve into a demon shape and then once a demon they push it further to their new race..... half cyborg half demon or something.
The altrogs look like they evolved from frogs or soemthing and they are going to turn into something very undragon like.
I think the dragon race should be expansion...
Mb you could rework the whole race thing so that each character evolves into a look based on skill.. so some one with really good weapons skill but not much else would have evolved into a race which is all about the use of hand held weapons, and mb can go up to 200% skill in them. Or one of them.

Half man half dragon
but you maybe too invincible so maybe ummm... a centaur or a minataur
wow the half human half dragon race is really popular. I hope my next idea is recepted just as well.
I jsut posted about the tech weapons and upgrades, and i just had a brilliant idea... A cyborg, or robotic race.
You start out as a basic droid, have to kill stuff to buy an exoskeloton.. and bit by but you build urself into the ultimate war machiene. One of your arms could be a rocket launcher and the other a normal arm which wholes a sword or something, and you could mb get jet packs, new eyes etc etc.
I think they would be the ultimate race for TECH. But they should have majour weaknesses to say.. lightning and water attacks... i could go on but i'll hold my tounge a bit and see what people think before evolving the idea a bit more.

hmm.. i like the cyborg robotic race thing.....
or an AI inplanted into an organic lifeform.
i like the ideah of changing exoskeletons and make urself into a warmachine....
but they shouldnt be superior to the other races....
and the water and lightning weakness and ok to
it should be able to use the other weapons like swords
and i wonder how you could unlock it...
maybe do a tons of quest leading up to that quest that gives you the ability to have that race...
maybe you find a tiny small (why should it always be huge gigantic computers that talks funny in the future?...) computer that copies ur mind onto that robotic thing whatever its gonna be... or you can create a robot there in the factory...(where else do you make robots
)
oh..robotic pet?..just thougt about it...but you must be that robotic/cyborg/beep beep race to have those pets....

and as much as i like your idea of having the races change and evolve based on their skills, i feel it would be insanly hard to code and implment...

Maybe have like long big oh quests instead of reaching levels....Like for a example: quest for power (triderian or/and human) Quest for wisdom and intelligence (palladrone or altrog) quest for reason and perpous (altrogs).....This way people won't become there big racey thingies what ever there called by just leveling......and as posted in FW forums it should be that the evolved race shouldnt be stronger, because that way some of the people who wish to stay there orginal race, they can without there being much of a minus
Now I think the races should be somewhat like this:
Humans: Dragothian (half dragon, half human (like stated in earlier posts) or Ameauriths (a human filled with dark or just energy, but is still human, he has dark blue skin and has some extra abilities)
Altrogs: Yurraths (half serpent, half altrog or man, but should be altrog.....A altrog that have poison and moves even faster with there snake like bodies, and have somewhat stronger bodies, hp wise)
Palladrones: Quarrtoths (A half palladrone half void dragon like thingy (sorta dragon, maybe something else) or a palladrone that is: very wise, very smart, kinda a buffed up freak who knows too much)
Triderian: Taliderian or Baliderian (a triderian wich is like a minotaur, with extra strength and more hp bla bla bla, for the triderians who want to go the good way instead of being a demon) or Daliderian or just full demon (a full blooded demon triderian, who chose the path of destruction instead of the path of a Tali/Bali-derian, quite a bit stronger, but evil)
Hmm actually a bit there......anyways I was thinking that those guys don't haft to use wings to fly, maybe just have em for looks, or just not have them....

what about an wannabe angel race?
since we have the wannabe devils like the triderians...
why not make a race that have wings and a halo
kinda look like humans...little different eyes and maybe greyish skin?....
i dont know about this dragon stuff though but considering there is an alien race involved why not make some type of hi-tech mech warrior. and if you make it so it will be hard to unlock it then it will give that feel of these warriors of the future are slowly slipping through these gates to the past. could even make it a quest in the mid-high levels where the warriors could find a key to unlock the past.
these warriors would only be aloud to level up in their own territory untill they can do the above quest. let them gain xp for killing people from the fantasy side and in return if he is hunted by a group from the other side then they will get some futuristic drops. could be things like candy bars for health too bits and pieces of his armor like screws and bolts and maybe a panel or two. also a very low drop rate for its ammo and some guns/rockets.
then on the fantasy side you could have it where only the highest level of crafters may be able to do some quest in search of those pieces from the mech.
i dont think this mech should be able to be killed by 2 or 3 people should be a group effort which will make it harder for the crafter to get those pieces unless he gets the kill shot.
now for those crafters to be able to build these weapons, they should have to do some type of quests to learn how to make buildings and machinery to even begin on learning how to make even bullets or rockets. by the sounds of things there shouldnt be a flood of these type of weapons so making this a really expensive, only for high levels,a need for the whole community to take part in order for even one type of weapon of the future to be made, and have a set ammount allowed in the world at one time. like say 10 weapons at any given time and once one is destroyed another will be allowed to be made. if an attempt is made to make one while the set limit is at max then the machinery needed to begin the construction will be damaged severely, will need to be repaired by maybe a high level character from another race that needs to do all sorts of quest in order to learn how to start repairing these machines. just an idea. not saying the dragon ideas are bad, just in need of something different and thought maybe this would be different enough 8)

Nice idea but i think the energy of it is misplaced. Unlocking is simply another stage of advancement.
Instead of a new race id rather see just a new stage of development in the existing race. Why must we always stay as is? Can we not grow stronger or faster or ........ all do-able with the same energy but more immersive and logical.
Im afraid i dont see any logical reason for a new race to suddenly branch off.
Unless... it is done as a player feature not as a character feature. ie: if a player brings a character of each race to a certain level
I REALLY REALLY like the idea of evolution for each race. Maybe each could develop differently for good or evil as suggested for the Triderians earlier.
