season 5 through somewhere in the end of season 7 and season 8.
hmm that kinda sucks, i think. i hate playing something when i know how it is gonna turn out... oh well.. and i also think we at sometime will develop up to season 9 and 10... why you ask? well they mention atlantis in the articel, and i reallly doubt they would be able to resist a atlantis exp, and since the atlantis spinoff (if i arent mistaking) first started at the start of season 9..... :-)

Still if this game will make it, or it will crash and burn only time will tell..

There's some really good info here, thanks. I'm a bit disappointed of late as to some revelations though, such as what's going on in space... but I'm still really looking forward to it.

Well they just KILLED this game for me. ......

Well, it depends on how you want to specify types, because basically we're modeling four different races in this game, and each one of the four different races will have three different professions that they can pursue. So you'll really be able to tailor your character; it's pretty much like World of Warcraft in that sense of being able to stay within one archetype but really have a lot of variation within it.

Sorry for the colors ... they dont even match .. but anyways .... ONLY four races? ONLY 3 different professions? And copying WoW???????????

Someday someone will have the creativity that Raph has.

They just lost me as a potential customer. After my experience  with $OE trying to copy WoW and pissin' on 250K of their customers ..... I will not risk wasting my time and money. But that is me. If you all play it .... I hope you enjoy it.

Yes I played WoW (9 months) and yes I changed some colors. I had to ... they were ugly.

Why cant developers understand that if I wanted to play a WoW game I would still be playing WoW, even with all their limitations in the game. There isn't ANY game developing company that can copy WoW and have their success. It can NOT be done. Not unless they have a playerbase that has followed them for 10 years and servers in like 13 different countries.

Part II of the interview is up for more insight.

To Shadowlords: I would strongly recommend doing a bit more reading about Stargate Worlds before writing it off. While the initial professions may seem slim, from what I understand, each of those professions branch out to others. It won't be a 'talent' system a la WoW, if I've read other bits and pieces about it correctly. The truth is that it's awfully early to say yay or nay about the game when specifics aren't yet known.

Well they specificaly said it will not be FPS....  That killed it for me.

I am just sick and tired of the point and click mode that these game companies are following, it robs from the experiance any chance at skill comeing in to play.  And since they arent gonna use FPS the only step that they can go up from point and click is the way SWG went with having to target while still being a point and click game all that really adds is frustration.

Why would anyone want to play a shooter game where you dont have to aim your gun and where every shot is predestined to hit or miss? Yeah you can duck and hide woopie, so now you cant even hit your target even when you got them targeted...

They say their will be guns fireing everywhere all arround you, but if it is gonna be point and click those shots that missed wont even hit the person behind you and in the bullets path ....

Mabe I am wrong, but I cant see how thats gonna be fun.  I will still keep an eye on it to find out more about their combat but as it stands their is no way in hell I will play a point and click shooter.  They may as well call it WoW Future wars.....

I hear what you are saying, it is early to write off a game. But I have played, tried, and beta tested 10-12 MMOs. Most MMOs are WoW wannabes. Classes, levels, talent points, limited professions, limited everything. If you and I craft the same item, the final product will be completely identical.

SWG was the first MMO that actually gave the people playing the game the ability to do whatever they wanted. 32 professions, 250 skill points to use in whatever profession you chose to use them in, player housing, player cities, player run economy, everything in the game was crafted by the playerbase, complex crafting, none of this.... this item in, that item in, and you get this item out. If you were a crafter (in SWG) your products were only as good as the resources you used to make them with. This FORCED crafters to do their homework and look for good resources.

I could see a trainer to get trained or find someone with the same profession to get trained. In fact it was even necessary. The Master boxes of every profession required Apprentice points which you could only get by training other players in your profession. All these things caused (forced) the playerbase to interact with each other. (think it is called interdependency)

And I am sorry, Joe sounded 100% like bragging how close the profession system was to WoW.

You have an arguement about it being early .... but that is it.

The problem with FPS is lag. Latency. Not all computers are equal. Traditional MMO combat engines are the great equalizer. That and the fact that MOST MMO'ers are 'casual' players, and don't have the time to hone the 'headshot'. It's just not very fun for the target core audience of an MMO.
And really, who wants to play in a game with a bunch of bunny hopping headshotters?
The technology just isn't there for an MMO that is FPS.

For the last 12 years or so, they've all be newer shinier versions of EQ (WoW) or UO (SWG). There hasn't been a significant evolutionary step forward in the genre since...
    Wow. Hmm.
    UO? LOL

It seems to me that if a game isn't a copy of SWG, it's not worth playing in your eyes. So it probably won't matter if I point out 10 very cool things about Stargate Worlds that you may not know, or may not even care because of preconceived notions.

I understand what you are saying, but, if their were ever a game where they could make it work this would have been it...

The stargate itsself would have made it possible, mainly because it is just an instance.  Then look at planetside, the way you were teleported to the different sites, instead of that you would be instanced there by the gate.  Planetside was a MMO and had thousands of players, they seemed to handle it pretty well, are you saying that this company cant keep up with or one up, a game as old as planetside?

The main thing that bugs me is the fact that this is undoubtably a shooter... watch the shows, they are shooting all over the place, its a shooter.  But now it is being made into another WoW mold.    Look at MXO, the hand to hand was fun(all the animations) but when it came to the guns it just kinda sucked and their was no point...  you just stand there and hit different types of shots and watch to see if they hit ... yay?

Look at the episode where Teo'ulk(spell?) and Daniel, went into the virtual game simulation in T's head(in those chairs), it was done up like a FPS, because thats what the creators of the show invisioned Stargate as in game form.....

Now we are gonna be stuck with this untill another compamy , probably 10yrs down the road gets the rights to make a fun stargate MMO....    Oh well would have been nice, now we got another WoW type MMO that will only entertain you for a few months then you realize its just another time sink money pit....

And trust me I aint happy about it , was looking forward to this game for a long time, now I am just depressed.
