Ofcourse lets talk about offtopic - we may aswell make it last as this is turning into a kiddies spam fest and will be deleted shortly.

If you can't be mature enough to bring up an argument about anything except my grammer, that is why you loose.

    Lets analyse EVE online.

Logon , Looks at your certs, click learn.. Log off, log back on, see youve learned a cert, learn a new one, logoff.

Thats all eve is. I've played it , i know, Your great mmorpg SCI-FI orgasm is no more than a new means of grinding without being at the keyboard.

If you can't think of a better argument than to badly attempt to insult me, just dont post because im sure there are more mature people who would like to have a debate about the serious issues.

I'm not an AO player. I tried it a couple of times but just found it too be boring.

As for EVE don't talk about what you don't know. If that's what you think eve is all about then must of not played it.

One more thing look at the rankings. I guess your precious AO wasn't even nominated for the player awards because everybody likes it!!!!!

    If I may add an experienced and considered opinion to the AO vs. EVE sub-topic that's developing here;

I have played both of these games for a number of years and on off, was even on the betas... my latest experience of both of these MMOs was/ended aprox 4 months ago.   A breif re-visit to AO to see if it had been improved/developed/updated, and an extended tour of duty with EVE which lasted for 4 months - the latter 2 month of which was mainly dock-training as I could no-longer tolerate the inherent paranoia and hostility of players that characterises EvE Online.

    EvE Online

There are many, perhaps too many, Trial account players within EvE, this is one of the major sources of paranoa for it's more dediated player base, as it allows the creation of spy-alts.  If you've played EvE you know this already ofc.  Add to this the generally anti-social mindset that, from long and repeated experience, characterises the *cough* social interation.  Add further the plain and simple fact that EvE is infact a Wealth Accumulation Sim and not an RPG, /Sci-Fi MMO.    The combat is un-involving, the game physics are poor, and the whole logic of the galaxy is flawed in its' execution.  (ie: why would mighty empires not use some of their naval hardware to secure some of the very mineral-rich systems?)  The whole EvE concept and execution was weak to start with, and every new major update simply adds more bugs, ever more extended downtime and new options for dissapointment.   Avoid this game if you have a soul.

    Anarchy Online

It was the most innovative, interesting, exciting, involving and beautiful  MMO ever.  It's not anymore.  It's aged badly due to apathy and mis-management.  However there are many players who still enjoy it, it may not be as awesome as it once was, but MMOs aren't just about technical details, they are about social interation, enjoyment, progression etc..  AO still has all these things and more. Besides, if you want a sci-fi MMO there still isn't anything quite so unique.  Avoid this game if you do NOT have a soul.

ps. Don't bother replying with some eve style smacktalk or flames, or with that shared delusion that because you have amassed a virtual empire in New Eden that makes you some sort of uber MMOer.  Waste your time `playing` eve and spare the MMORPG community your hostilites - save that for you fellow eve players.

IMHO: Very bad launch and Shadownlands expansion killed AO. Many players tried AO when it was launched, found it horrible and never returned. Shadowlands changed game to fantasy solo playing game, where casual scifi players, like me, did have hard time to find reasons to play. Don't know about LE... I never returned ot AO after Alien Invasion. If they would like to revitalize game, they would first need to remake graphics - those are outdated.

I've been playing on and off since december 2001 and now I cancelled my account after LE:

-we waited two years for this? there are not even new zones it's just a new type of mission and the battle station

-way too expensive for what it is esp in europe: almost 40 euro incl vat you can buy a new game for that. it's a total rip off. for the first time i feel cheated by Funcom.

-battlestation pvp can be fun but it's almost impossible to get past the queue and when you do most of the time you get dropped back out.

    -no love for MPs

Goodbye and thanks for the fish

Well, intressting discussion you have here. Well from the look of the eye, it looks like moste of the "old" AO players like the patch. Well let those whom have played the game for a long time deside if its good or not, not the ones who have just started it!

Me myself, I really like the "patch". And it did NOT ruin the game in my oppinion!

LE was Funcom's way of bringing the WoW battlegrounds to RubiKa (The Battlestations) ....Victory Points = PvP Ranking...seem familliar? Ofab Armor = PvP Sets from WoW.

Now since I have never cared for the PvP element of AO it sorta left me out of their latest expansion...well, almost. There is many many days/months (depending what QL ofab armor you are aiming for) of doing the alternative method for gaining Victory Points. Mothership Missions! Gets old quickly...like shadowland missions. At least they make it a bit more interesting by making the dungeons random now. Still killing van Dummy all the time though.

The mechs are neat looking enough but I havn't toyed around with them much. Again not into PvP...I don't know why...I *love*love*love*-ed PvP in WoW (die d00d_speeekrz001 !!11!) but in AO I never felt the urge to even try it.

    Go figure.

LE=WoW....No worries Funcom..You might try to be WoW but you still own the best community out there where as WoW.....where do I start.

Nah I don't think Funcom will shut down there firstborn anytime soon. Some players have left after Lost Eden but there are still several thousand left.

Since the release of LE they have been adding small patches to fix bugs and it is just about smoothed out now.

I played the free version for a while, and to this day still get emails from Funcom telling me about all these wonderful upgrades I can get for free (Shadowlands, Alien Invasion, Notum Wars).

I've repeatedly "unsubscribed" but still continue to receive them.

That right there tells me they are spammers, and I'll never pay to play their game.

Funcom has a history of releasing buggy content, something longtime AO fans are used to by now. LE is nothing different than other such occurances, and certainly not as bad as when AO was originally launched.

Chill, it's just a game, folks!

    Currently playing:
LOTRO, Rift (beta) and WoW (on occasion)

exactly, as far as i remember AO was always bugged, with a crappy engine ( played it from beta till approx midle of SL wich is arround 3 or 4 years).. the game is bugged since the start and always been  and the comunauty is complaining since day one.. yet it s ( was) one of the best i played in :p

people keep saying its dead for years but yet it still arround..; and  unless a good scfi mmorpg comes out or funcom decide to close the server it ll be arorund for a while still.. because lets face it, depsite all the bugs and the (compared to the gfx we see nowdays) oldy gfx its still an amazing complex game with lot of  fun stuff to do :p

The original poster was talking about the zoning when in fight.  Can you still zone during a fight in PVE (in a mission)?

I was wondering the same thing.  When I played, I would have to run out of a mission quite a bit just to survive.  I can see how they call this an exploit, but something that major should have been implemented from day 1 not in year 5.

    MMORPGs are virtual skinner boxes.

The can not zone while in a fight thing was declared an error some time back and they are removing it. Zoning out of mission areas while under attack was never a problem, getting in was.

As for the other points in the original post every expansion for pretty much any MMORPG cause people to quit for one reason or another, AO is no different. LE was regarded as largely incomplete with a number of bugs. Although all the procs seem to be working now, the zoning issue is better but I haven't tested it since the last patch (17.2) so there may still be issues. They've added a number of new items and nanos, reduced the timer on perk resets from 24 hours to two, the Beast timer was cut in half, comp nanos all have two second attack times from 24s, new more PvM high level encounters were just added, MPs and traders finally got a bit of love and other things. There's more coming in 17.3 and they'll likely be adding after that so it could still be a while before we see what LE gave us.

Sound interesting but i don't think i'll ever go back.   What kill the game for me, is the lack of content.   I got tired with my 205 fixer to always do the same Pen dungeon, always have to wait for team in the garden.

I just think it's hilarious that given FC's track record, that anyone thinks AoC is gonna be some sort of great game.

As far as the Eve vs AO debate goes, Eve loses. It's got some innovative ideas, and the backdrops are stunning, but there is a reason that everytime I get an email from CCP asking me to come back for a week, I think about resubbing, then realize around day four or five why I never have. It's boring as dirt. Mining: Fly to asteroid belt, target asteroid, click on minng lasers, wait 15 mins for cargo hold to fill up, go back to nearest base, and unload. Very exciting. Combat? Pretty much the same. Target whatever, click on Stay at X range, once in range, open fire. Occasionally fire off shield booster, ECM, etc.

If they'd gone with a flight sim approach to controlling ones ship, then I'd be playing. As it stands, the current control scheme is a snore-fest.

There aren't many cyberpunk themed MMO's out there. AO, and Neocron are the only two that come to mind off the top of my head. Of those two, AO is far and away the better game.

AO got to laggy for me........I couldn't handle that anymore.

As far as Sci Fi MMO      AO isn't as high as Deadmeat says.

To be perfectly honest, OP has really provided NOTHING in the post apart from saying
"I don't like Lost Eden and I don't go to school."
One would think that someone should've deleted this long ago as it is.. Well. Spam.

Played so far: 9Dragons, AO, AC, AC2, CoX, DAoC, DF, DnL, DR, DDO, Ent, EvE, EQ, EQ2, FoMK, FFO, Fury, GW, HG:L, HZ, L1, L2, M59, MU, NC1, NC2, PS, PT, R:O, RF:O, RYL, Ryzom, SL, SB, SW:G, TR, TCoS, MX:O, UO, VG, WAR, WoW...
    It all sucked.
