If you're worried about finding teammates, I find more teams than I know what to do with on any server. But Freedom and Virtue are the largest and best populated. Also Heroes side is definitely more populated than Villain.
Im playing this game since launch and play on guardian server, I have like four lvl 50s and one lvl 40. Best pvp in any other mmorpg I have seen, Community was the best, dont worry about population, There is always lots of people around. I prefer City of Heroes as you can run it on lower spec. City of villains is more updated and can be farley laggy on a low spec machine. Im not tired of the game and always come back to it, But i reccomend you get City of Heroes first and give it a try and hopefully you like it
Well in response to the poster above in regards to PvP it depends on what you are looking for. The Devs didnt really balance this game for PvP so this causes some problems and they do not make PvP a priority (they've been quoted in interviews saying a low percent of their populace engages in it). Has some balance problems in regards to villain vs hero. Check PvP General if this topic interests you
Still, the pvp is very fun to do. [edit] Everyone used to say brutes were gimped in pvp (pre-fury fix). So I had fun taking my EM/ELA to RV and killing some heroes giving them something to be wary of!
on topic, yes a lot of people still play the most populated servers are freedom and virtue like others have said
Finding groups is FAR easier in CoH/V than in any MMOG I have played. And I have played a lot of them.
PvP is pretty lame because it depends far less on player skill than in bringing the right team. Most battles are completely predictable if you know what power sets are involved on each side. (There are a lot of trump cards in the deck.)
In general, the city is far better designed on the Heroes side. The game as a whole just seems more interesting there, for me anyway. The Villain game progression is more linear, the Rogue Isles zones all have a certain sameness, and it's just less immersive overall.
But CoH is, at the moment, my favorite MMOG. The community is great, and Cryptic's commitment to continued improvement is impressive. Nearly every major update has brought something new and worthwhile to the game.
yeah the servers may not seem so populated but even during the early day hours my scrapper on freedom get about 3 invites every hour or so looking to do missions or whatever. So yeah finding teammates if thats ur thing wotn be a problem at all. i kept getttign blind invites over and over that i wrote dont send me blind invites i wotn accept them.
Its quite populated, you always get team invites. I first played CoV and there was hardly anyone who played, never got a team! So i switched to CoH its much better!
