I just got done with FFXI, and i had a bad experience because of how party based it was. I was wondering if there was a soloable mmorpg out there. THX!
I dont think it's the purpose of a mmorpg to solo it... Well if you like to...You can solo in RYL as a human SORC atm cause theyre fucking overpowered...

Tell that to the Koreans
But seriously, their way of competition is to see who can level up the fastest, so Korean games are made specifically for soloing needs, and therefore it's a rush to the top. Of course you can party, but most people just solo. Indeed, it get's boring Soloing, which is why I don't play Korean Imports as much anymore.

Not really, because even though we live in a large community in real life you do want time to yourself every now and then. And you want to be able to get stuff done during that time.
Grouping and stuff is fine, but there has to be a choice if you dont want to do it. And you shouldnt get penalised just because you want to play alone for a while.
People play online games because they like to socialize and share their accomplishments with other players. That has nothing to do with whether you like to solo or group.
DAOC is a good game to solo. All classes can solo to some extent. Most can solo rather well. Most camps that have BAF (bring-a-friend) mobs have built-in solo capabilities as the number of mobs that respond to an attack is based on the number of people in a group. One or two people should pull a single; 3-4 people should pull 2; more than 4 will pull a full complement, usually 3-4 mobs, but sometimes more. The exception is if someone heals you during a fight, your next pull will bring a full compliment of mobs because you are now considered a group, even if you're not grouped. You can erase this effect by logging off and back on, or by resting for a period of time.
If you are fighting mobs that call for help only when their health is diminished, as opposed to BAF mobs, the trick is to lure the one you're fighting out of calling range.
Now, there are some things that must be done in a group, like your final epic quest battle, master level and artifact encounters, but if you want to otherwise solo your entire career, you can.
I slightly prefer to be grouped, but I rather be soloing then grouped with folks I dislikes! Also, I need to be self reliant. Finally, soloing can allow some competition(not necessarily in-fighting), unlike been alone home.
The only way to make grouping great is to make the grouping game more appealing then the soloing game, not by killing the soloing game, if I solo, either the grouping game lack, or the players pool to group with seriously lack, enforcing me to group with *morons* will kill my interest in the game(most players are sweeties and fun to meet), period.

Grouping is one of the main reason why many people play mmorpg. Grouping is very fun and it's a chance to make virtual friends and creat a a group of trusting members. Saying all that, soloing is also important. Almost everyone at some point want to solo once in awile. I like grouping, but I also like to solo when I don't have much time to group. Grouping with others sometime will take about 2-3 hours depend on how good the group is. I like to solo for about an hour also, just to kill some time when I don't have enough time to search for a good available group. I do hate FFXI for the lack of solo, boring gamplay, and boring skills sets.
If you are looking for a game to solo most of your time than City of Heroes might be your best bet. It give you a chance to solo most of your time doing missions. You will eventually need to group once in awile to get a couple of lvl higher then you can go back to solo. If you can wait than may be we can see how WoW will turn out.

Most of the Korean Import MMORPG's would be soloable. Check out the game list.
