Performance help on laptop

Hey, My main rig runs Daoc perfectly with everything turned up, but my laptop (1.4 ghz on board graphics 512 ram) runs it a little sluggish (even with everthing turned off/down, classic textures(also char models) and I know a laptop isnt the perfect rig to play an mmo on, but I was wondering if anyone had any tweaks that might help the performance a little. or anyone that uses a similar laptop that has the same issues and found a way to improve the performance:).

Thanks.

To help you, someone would need more info...What brand, CPU chipset, shared a/V chipset, etc

There are many tweaks for laptops listed on the NWN2 site - I know I had to get the latest drivers [always a good idea! Only downside is you need to know the manufacturer/chipset used] and run a spoof program to make NWN2 think I had a dx9 card even though I had plenty of video RAM [it requires 128M and I have 256M but an older chipset]

I googled laptop tweaks and got quite a few hits; I'd suggest that you try that, too.

One last suggestion: there is a free program, Belarc Advisor, that will tell you what drivers, chipsets, etc you have if you don't already know.

    Good luck

If the ToA client still works you can use that.  Other than that you need to upgrade.  Minimum specs are 1.8 gig and 512mb ram with a real video card and not an intel on board chipset.  Run ToA, get some more ram are really the only things you can do to help things out.

i only have the epic edition client sadly. It works quite ok now but A little performance gain is always welcome, specially in cities the performance leaves somethings to wish for.

so are there any general tweaks that could bring a bit of performance gain? I looked on google but didnt find much else than updating my drivers(which I did).

this isn't exactly a tweak, but if you can afford extra 512 ram, it would be of some help for you

I meant that you should buy one 1 gig stick of ram, that costs even more, like 70-80€ in here . But you can sell your present memory and get some money from it too
