Any one played this game using GF 7600 go or a laptop?

Hi

My daughter recently did me a favour by dropping some pop on my lapotp and fortunately under the warranty i got a replacement that has a much better graphics  set up than my previous radeon x600 load of cack so now i have a geforce 7600 go so i can play more than world of warcraft now.

However i was wondering how vanguard plays on this or similar as i know its a pretty graphics hungry game.

Any   advice ?

PS should mention the other relevant specs which  is a dual core turion 64 processor with  2 gig ram

Greatness is difficult to appreciate from close up. The great mountain on the horizon is only the ground when you are standing on it.

V:SoH seems to run completely different on two pieces of identical hardware by looking at the forums here, so it's hard to say really.

I ran V:SoH on a core 2 duo 2.4, 2 gig ram, Geforce GO 7800 512 based laptop and, at the default setting of 'balanced', if I was alone in the woods I could get a decent frame rate - probably 20-25 fps... It certainly wasn't 30+ unfortunately.

Around other players or in town the game became a slideshow and to get smooth framerates I had to reduce all of the graphics to nearly thier minimum levels... I could then get 30+ fps, but the game looks *really* bad turned down like that.

My other machine I tried the game on is a fairly uber desktop gaming rig (AMD X2 5000+, 2 gig, 7950 GT OC) and it was only slightly better than the laptop...

Now you'll get posts from folks with 2ghz P4 machines and X300 video cards saying the game runs fine on their machine, so I really don't know what to make of it.

I'd suggest asking around for a 10 day trial key and downloading the 18+ gig game and trying it before plunking down the $50 for a box... Just to be sure it'll work for you.

Rule of laptops is always a notch below desktops in performance.

Thus most avid gamers are into desktops.

So say u got a 7900 laptop you get like a 7600 perforamance if it was a desktop.

That said u should be able to run vanguard at balanced setting with a few tweaks here and there .You might get some slowdown in crowded places though.

Yeah i read too ppl claiming running vanguard fine with x300 but tbh unless they got it set at lowest setting with everything off or minimum i doubt they are running it fine.

I occasionally play V:SOH on a Sony Vaio FE21B with a NVIDIA GeForce Go 7400 and a Intel® Centrino Duo T2300 processor. It's definately playable after a few tweaks, but your mileage may vary of course.

I play on an XPS m1710 laptop with Core Duo, 2g ram, and a 512m 7900 go.  I play on balanced w/sky on and a couple of other niceties.  I'm getting 15-25fps in town and 20-30 in the wild.  Pretty good stuff.  Not much stuttering.
It really depends on how much of an eye-candy hewer you are.  I'm pretty old school, so graphics aren't really insanely necessary for me.  Still you have to at least have high performance with at least 25% grass to make the game playable.  I mean graphics aren't everything, but the graphics have to be at least better than eq1.  lol  Just mess around with the settings until you find an FPS/graphical quality balance you're ok with.

I was playing on a laptop with an Intel centrino T2400, 1 gig of ram, and a geforce go 7600 and the game ran pretty smoothly. I ran it on balanced settings and it was perfectly playable, so don't think you should have too many worries.
