PvE aspect of this game.

graesbollgraesboll Member Posts: 1
Hi there.

I've played this game for some months when it came, then I bought WoW (you know the story). What I was wondering is if any raid-style playing is possible in Guild Wars, or just PvP/solo? I recall I did some 5-men, but is there any larger scale combats too? Only available for organised guilds and such? I got pretty much sold on the PvE aspect of WoW ;)

Thanks.

Absolutly No Big Raids, Nothing Compared to Like MC,Ony, And All those In WoW . GW Has Instances , Which Blows, And they're Only 5 Man Or Something. I Quit GW Went On to Vangaurd. Id Just Stick With WoW. Take My Advice, Because Everyone else Will tell you Im Wrong And Stuff. But What The Hell. So Yea Stick With WoW.

Never trust a man that takes the time to capitalize every word.

GW PvE is its own thing. It's almost like a single player game that is meant to be played co-operatively. I say that since you've already purchased GW, you might as well give it a shot. You've already spent all the money you'll ever need to spend on it.

As for large scale stuff, GW is simply not the place to look. GW is built around small parties of 4-8 with the largest scale battles being the GW: Factions only PvP content, called Alliance Battles. In those, you have three groups of 4 players randomly teamed together, then you face another group that is made in the same way. There is also the Hall of Heroes, which is three groups of 8 in a free for all, but that's extremely difficult to even get to.

I recommend enjoying the game that you've already purchased for what it is. It is not WoW on any level.

*sigh* Why do you even have to lie? There are no 5-man instances, and you never played GW in your life. I don't think people need to tell him you're wrong, you already prove it on your own. :|

i cant speak for end content in WOW having never played past lvl 12 but i feel the pve in GW feels like a game, you have an instance that has well thought out mob placements that at later levels provide for some real challenges.  With WOW i found all i did was collect 10 tounges from this lot of beasts and then kill 15 of these beasts etc etc.  or there was the other quest, deliver this to there and take this back to bob.  Also i love things like skill capping and the fact that you can change to a completly different playstyle in a few minutes.

It really seems GW is a game with MMO elements and WOW is an MMO with some gaming elements, (this wasn't intended as flame bait, just my opinion that really carries no weight and shouldn't make anyone but lunatics upset)

I agree with the above poster. To me GW seems to be made for people who enjoy the concept of MMoRPGs but hate how the gameplay is completely about levelling up your toon. In some instances it has been called the true successor of Diablo 2 which is true in many points and a good thing because I enjoyed Diablo 2 more than any normal MMoRPG. Until developers stop using grind curves as a lame excuse for content in their games, GW is going to be No 1 for me.

I tend to agree with this statement.

I'd like to think personally that WoW has more grinding (not to make a stereotype) of the bias associated with wow, but just to emphasis that GW has a decent story in its PvE content, and the PvE content in wow is crap in my personal opinion.  5 man raids...?  you can have 8 member parties at any mid-line mission in the game.  Then there goes into PvP as they outlined.
