Never really felt pain like this before

EnigmaEnigma Member UncommonPosts: 11,384

Ive had kidney stones two years ago and I thought that was pretty painful.  However, I just met its match.

My wife accidentally shut the back door to our car with my fingers inside.  The way the door shut, it press my fingers backwards and inverted, snapping three fingers (and, boy, did I certainly hear em...like a little chicken leg bone).

Pain became very apparent to me today but the vicadin the hospital gave me made it all WORTH IT

That's not worth Vicodin lol. I'd rather pay a little extra and not have my fingers smashed.

I think I'm the only person in the world that has had vicoden and didn't care for it.  I had my wisdom teeth pulled, and about a half hour after I took the vicoden I went to sleep for about 10 hours...what's so special about a drug that makes me take naps?

Well, if you stay awake you'll feel what's special but if you choose to sleep you'll just sleep tight.

Maybe add some beer/liqour and whatnot to enhance the effect for your own well-being.

My dad smashed his thumb into a door so hard that overtime the swelling pushed his whole thumbnail off and it was nothing but soft skin. It grew back though.

You'll understand if you ever get chronic insomnia. ;) Fighting sleep on pain killers is one of the most entertaining things in the world. You feel so good that you want to stay awake, but sleep sounds equally enjoyable. I love sitting in that limbo, nodding off then gathering the strength to open my eyes again. This usually lasts about 2 hours until I either decide to get up or give in.

And it is the most peaceful sleep you'll ever get, with exception to maybe xanax, and it comes without all the nasty hangovers that sleeping pills give you.

This thread reminded me of the time my ex-husband called me up from the hospital, where he'd been taken from work, and said he'd cut his finger. I got there, and his finger was barely hanging by a small section of flesh. He'd gotten it caught in a printing press. "You said you cut your finger! You didn't say you cut it OFF!" I squeaked at him before the nurses ushered me away. It was a distressing thing to see, for sure.

The plastic surgeon did a pretty good job of rebuilding his finger, and then he was great company for several weeks, sitting on the couch under the influence of heavy-duty painkillers.

well, I only took 2 vicadin because it was just way too much for me.

One pill laid me out on the floor like a deceased sea lion.

The second pill had me thinking about circuses and crossdressed midgets with those klingon batons with the electrified tips that they used during their rights of mature initiation.

People get Vicadin for wisdom teeth? I had 4 impacted wisdom teeth and all they gave me was Tylenol 3.

it's worth it for vicadin?  I'll never understand why think it's fund to drug themselves retarded.  I was on oxycoton during the summer due to an infection on my back, and I couldn't wait to get onto regular fail relievers.  I've got too much to do to waste my time on that crap.

Plus the more you take oxycoton the longer it takes you to crap.

Don't be terrorized! You're more likely to die of a car accident, drowning, fire, or murder! More people die every year from prescription drugs than terrorism LOL!

A week ago today my car lost control on a bridge and went head first into a cement baracade, an extended cap silerado then collided with the passenger side of my car.  All this happend at speeds between 45 and 50 mile an hour.  My car saved my life accually.

7 years ago a Silerado doing 50 mile an hour down the highway lost controll in the rain and ran into the side of my car, forcing me into a foot high curb and back into the truck for a second collision that resulted in the truck driving over the front of my car.

I have nerve dmg throughout my entire rigth arm, when I extend my left one the nerve running through it and into my hand will flare up.  The muscles in my neck will swell and put pressure on the nerves to my face and eyes.  I get migraines that impare my vision and make me vomit.  Oh, and slowly I'm losing the the use of my right arm.  Vicoden just eases some of the pain.

Screw your finger man!  I HURT.

    I win.

Edit: Some intersting info.  Opietes (sp?), the stuff that heroin and narcotic based painkillers are made out of, will attach themselves to pain reseptors.  Prolonged use of things like vicoden, perkaset, oxycodin will make you hurt MORE when you are off them.  This is one of the reason why people who live with long time pain never get over it when they use painkillers for comfort.  You become addicted to these pills long before you know it.  Wich is also why I perfer a more herbal and zen approach to my pain.  smoke and meditate, rise above and beyond the pain.

This story reminded me of the time I ran over my wife's foot...with her parents INSIDE the car!! And some think THEY have Mother-in-law problems. Thank S. Korea it was only with a Hyundai Accent...scared the hell out of her but didn't even cause a bruise...on her.

I never understood the need some people have to try to "out-do" another person.

Sorry to hear about your bad luck, but, I'm not sure what the point of your post is? I'm not sure why you'd even attempt to compare severe, almost fatal car accidents to someone getting their finger caught in a door.

Unless you're being sarcastic, which, if you are, disregard my post.

Heh, worst I've ever had happened in the summer of '02. I was in the BSA then and most of our troop was going down to New Mexico to a place called Philmont. On the way we stopped off for a short white water rafting event. I forgot to put sunscreen on my legs and ended up getting bad second degree sunburns all over my knees while paddling in the raft. Every single movement of those joints was pure agony, and so we arrived at Philmont and got ready for our ten day hiking trip covering 120 miles of mountainous terrain...  There were no available painkillers, and the burns didn't adequately heal untill the second to last day we were there.

For anyone that doesn't know 2nd degree is the stage where blisters form

For anyone interested, the wieght of my pack was 62.5 pounds with no water.

No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main. any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind, and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee.

Your last sentence cracked me up, though you did it unintentionally. Anyway, you are the only person I know that has ever complained about a legal script to Oxycontin. If it's any consolation, I would have paid $.50/milligram for them. You'd end up making $32 or so per pill that way on top of your out of pocket. All of this would be done legally of course, with an arbitrator and a board of medical doctors. I wouldn't want to break any RoC.
